Measurement of Tree Growth Characteristics and Acoustics Emission Signals by Partial Discharge in XLPE (XLPE의 부분방전에 의한 트리진전 특성과 음향방출신호 측정)

  • In this paper, when void of XLPE was existed, electrical tree was growth in branch-type, and it was growth in bush-type when void of XLPE was not existed. Moreover, charge magnitude of partial discharge by deterioration time of XLPE sample was about proportion to output voltage of AE signals. When void was existed, charge magnitude of partial discharge, the output voltage Vp-p value of AE signals were increased with increasing deterioration time. However, when void were not existed, charge magnitude of partial discharge, the output voltage Vp-p value of AE signals were increased in fast deterioration time, but it were decreasing at after in middle deterioration time. Frequency spectrum response of AE signal was about 100-250[kHz].

  • Studies on the electrical treeing deterioration and dielectric breakdown phenomena in the polymeric insulator of polyethylene and epoxy resin were carried out. Block type samples with needle-plane electrode geometry were electrically stressed and the tree pattern from the needle tip was observed. In LDPE the density of electrical tree was very high and its pattern was bush type. For the case of XLPE, branched tree was observed. As temperature and SN content increased, the dielectric breakdown voltage decreased and the treeing phenomena became more complicated. Fan type cracks were observed around the conducting tree path in the brittle DGEBA/MDA system.

  • Grease deterioration of mineral oil type grease was investigated using sealed deep groove ball bearings (6203) and bearing life test rig. The bearing test was performed under 3,000 rpm and 245 N radial load at 120。C. Grease taken ken tested bearings was checked in using certain evaluation methods, for example, oxidation induction time (OIT), FT-IR peak intensity, leakage .ate, bleeding .ate, total acid number. (TAN) and bearing noise increase. Within these test conditions, OIT, TAN, bleeding rate were changed gradually in accordance with bearing operating time and showed useful indices for deterioration of grease.

  • The results of a series of ten W-shaped test specimens subjected to monotonic, quasi-static cyclic loading and fatigue type of loading in the form of constant amplitude tests are presented. The objectives were to assess and compare the rotation capacity and energy absorption of monotonically and cyclically loaded beams, and for the latter specimens to document the deterioration in the form of low cycle fatigue due to local buckling. In addition, strength and energy dissipation deterioration and damage models have been developed for the steel beam section under consideration. Finally, a generalized model which uses plate slenderness values and lateral slenderness is proposed for predicting rate in strength deterioration per reversal and cumulated damage after a given number of reversals.

  • This paper is aimed to develop the circuit of a coil-type oil sensor packaged to the automotive engine oil monitoring the deterioration in the driving condition and let a driver notify the optimized time for the exchange of engine oil. By applying the principle which the deterioration of automotive engine oil can be expressed to the dielectric constant, the capacitance bridge circuit and the integrator circuit are designed and packaged to a coil-typed engine oil. In this study. the range of operating temperature of engine oil is experimentally recommended within 55$^{\circ}C$ for the stability of a sensor designed. It is concluded that the characteristics of output voltage converted from the dielectric constant are linearly distributed.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the proto type sensor installed inside an oil filter in order to detect oil deterioration level. The sensor is made up with two concentric cylinders with constant gap in between and a filter element inside the central area. The size will be designed as similar as real oil filters. The sensor will be tested on a test rig, which is circulating engine oil, with the same size of an oil filter adapting housing as real engines'. It will be measured the capacitance of a sample engine oil, then be able to be gotten the dielectric constant. The changes in the dielectric constant could be correlated with the engine oil deterioration level if the sensor development would be completed. In this paper, it will be shown the test results carrying out under variable temperature conditions at atmosphere pressure.

A Durability Assessment on Complex Deterioration of Concrete with Ground Granulated Blast-Furnace Slag Replacement (복합열화 환경하에서의 고로슬래그미분말 사용 콘크리트의 내구성능 평가)

  • This paper presents the experimental results of frost durability characteristics including freezing-thawing and de-icing salt scaling of the concrete for gutter of the road and marine structure. Mixtures were proportioned with the three level of water-binder ratio(W/B) and three binder compositions corresponding to Type I cement with 0%, 30% and 50% GGBS(Ground granulated blast furnace slag) replacement. Also, two different solutions of calcium chloride were used to evaluate their effect on the frost durability resistance. Specially, in case of complex of freezing and thawing with salt and carbonation, the deterioration of concrete surface is evaluated. Test results showed that the BFS30 and BFS50 mixture exhibited higher durability and lower mass loss values than those made with OPC mix and the use of GGBS can be used effectively in terms of economy and frost durability of the concrete to be in complex deterioration. Therefore, the resistance to complex deterioration with freezing-thawing was strongly influenced by the strength and the type of cement.

  • In the track geometry such as rails, sleepers, ballasts and fastener, track deterioration occurs by repetitive train weight and the high-speed railway takes a trend faster than normal. Track deterioration of over threshold value harms ride comfort and furthermore affect in trains safety seriously. An organic and systematic track maintenance system is very important because a trend of the track deterioration effects on track life-cycle and running safety. Also costs of the railway track permanent way and its maintenance are extremely large, forming a significant part of the total infrastructure expenditure. Therefor reasonable and efficient track maintenance has to be planed on a budget. It is required to carry out not only corrective maintenance but preventive maintenance for the track maintenance. In order to perform maintenance jobs in the boundary of the machines and resources given regarding the type and amount jobs, it is necessary to determine feasible or optimal scheduling considering the priority. In this study, the system organization and required functions for the development of track maintenance system supported track deterioration prediction and optimal scheduling are proposed.

Effect of Temperature on the Deterioration of Graphite-Based Negative Electrodes during the Prolonged Cycling of Li-ion Batteries

  • In this paper, we report the effects of temperature on the deterioration of graphite-based negative electrodes during the longterm cycling of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). After cycling 75 Ah pouch-type LIB full cells at temperatures of 45℃ (45-Cell) and 25℃ (25-Cell) until their end of life, we expected to observe changes in the negative electrode according to the temperature. The thickness of the negative electrode of the cell was greater after cycling; that of the electrode of 45-Cell (144 ㎛) was greater than that of the electrode of 25-Cell (109 ㎛). Cross-sectional scanning electron microscopy analysis confirmed that by-products caused this increase in the thickness of the negative electrode. The by-products that formed on the surface of the negative electrode during cycling increased the surface resistance and decreased the electrical conductivity. Voltage profiles showed that the negative electrode of 25-Cell exhibited an 84.7% retention of the initial capacity, whereas that of 45-Cell showed only a 70.3% retention. The results of this study are expected to be relevant to future analyses of the deterioration characteristics of the negative electrode and battery deterioration mechanisms, and are also expected to provide basic data for advanced battery design.

  • There are two methods to make a distinction of deterioration of high-speed railway track. One is that an administrator checks for each attribute value of track induction data represented in graph and determines whether maintenance is needed or not. The other is that an administrator checks for monthly trend of attribute value of the corresponding section and determines whether maintenance is needed or not. But these methods have a weak point that it takes longer times to make decisions as the amount of track induction data increases. As a field of artificial intelligence, the method that a computer makes a distinction of deterioration of high-speed railway track automatically is based on machine learning. Types of machine learning algorism are classified into four type: supervised learning, unsupervised learning, semi-supervised learning, and reinforcement learning. This research uses supervised learning that analogizes a separating function form training data. The method suggested in this research uses SVM classifier which is a main type of supervised learning and shows higher efficiency binary classification problem. and it grasps the difference between two groups of data and makes a distinction of deterioration of high-speed railway track.
