A Basic Study on the signal Processing and Analysis of ECG (심전도 신호처리 및 분석에 관한 기초연구)

  • In this paper, we would like to discuss the signal processing and the algorithm for ECG analysis. The ECG gives us information about the condition of the heart muscle, because myocardial abnormality or infarction is inscribed on the ECG during myocardial depolarization and repolarization. Analyzing the ECG signal, we can find heart disease, for example, arrhythmia and myocardial infarction, etc. Particularly, detecting arrhythmia is more important, because serious arrhythmia can take away the life from patients within ten minutes. The wavelet transform decomposes the ECG signal into high and low frequency component using wavelet function. Recomposing high frequency bands including QRS complex, we can detect QRS complex and eliminate the noise from the original ECG signal. To recognize the ECG signal pattern, we adopted the curve-fitting partially and statistical method. The ECG signal is divided into small parts based on QRS complex, and then, each part is approximated to the polynomials. Comparing the approximated ECG pattern with some kinds of heart disease ECG pattern, we can detect and classify the kind of heart disease.

  • Knock and misfire, kinds of abnormal combustion, are highly undesirable effect on the internal combustion engine. So, it is important to detect these avnormal combuition and control the ignition timing etc. to avoid these mal-effect factors in real engine system. In this study, the system which detects the knock and the misfire using by spark plug is presented. This system is based on the effect of modulation breakdown voltage(BDV) between the spark gaps. The voltage drop between spark plug electrodes, when an electrical breakdown is initiated, depends on the temperature and pressure in combustion chamber. So, we can detect knock and misfire that produce changes in gas temperature and pressure (consequently, its density) using by BDV signal change which carries information about the character of combustion.

  • An improved inverse perspective mapping (IIPM) is proposed so as to reduce computational expense of recovery of 3D road surface. An experimental system based on IIPM is developed to detect lane parameters for a driver assistant system. A re-organized image is obtained quickly and exactly by IIPM. Efficient preprocessing techniques are used to enhance the information of lane and obstacles. Lane in the preprocessed. image is located with region identification. Lane parameters are estimated effectively. An algorithm to adaptively modify the parameters of IIPM is given. Properties of obstacle on 3D road surface are discussed and used to detect obstacles in the current lane and neighboring lanes. Experimental results show that the new method can extract lane state information effectively.

  • The ability to efficiently and robustly recover accurate 3D terrain models from sets of stereoscopic images is important to many civilian and military applications. To develop an effective and practical terrain modeling system. We propose the methods which detect unreliable elevations in digital elevation maps (DEMs). and fuse several DEMs from multiple sources into an accurate and reliable result. This paper focuses on two key factors for generating robust 3D terrain models. the ability to detect unreliable elevation estimates. and to fuse the reliable elevations into a single optimal terrain model. We apply the correlation score methodology to reconstruct accurate DEM for multi-image and show the method is more effective than the conventional averaging method. The photo-realistic simulator is used for generating four simulated images from ground truth DEM and orthoimage.

  • In this paper, we use a fuzzy algorithm to detect and diagnose the error which is caused by time delay of the computer-controlled system. Generally, a computer-controlled system is composed of computer and process. And they communicate the data each other. In data communication, error occurs by some reasons, such as noise, disturbance, hardware defect, etc. Time delay is one of the reasons. And time delay makes it difficult to distinguish whether the system really has a problem or not. Therefore, we need to detect and diagnose the error from time delay. For difficulty of modeling and ambiguity of classification, we use a fuzzy algorithm. To verify the better performance of the proposed algorithm, we exemplified by some simulation results.

  • In this paper, a method to detect lanes and obstacles from the images captured by a CCD camera fitted in an automobile is proposed, and a new terminology “Moving Window” is defined. Processing the input dynamic images in real time can cause quite a few constraints in terms of hardware. In order to overcome these problems and detect lanes and obstacles in real time using the images, the optimal size of “Moving Window” is determined, based upon road conditions and automobile states. The real time detection is made possible through the technique. For each image frame, the moving window is moved in a predicted direction, the accuracy of which is improved by the Kalman filter estimation. The feasibility of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated through the simulated experiments of freeway driving.

  • In this paper, an optical fiber sensor(OF sensor) utilizing the principal of Sagnac interferometer was proposed to detect the discharge signals. The needle-sphere electrode system in insulating oil generated the signals. The performance of OF sensor was checked by sinusoidal calibration signal generated by PZT actuator at 198KHz. The detected discharge signals consisted of acoustic signal and the electrical noise. The noise signal could be removed by digital low pass filter. It was demonstrated that the OF sensor in this research had a possibility to detect the discharge signals in power apparatus.

  • The most generally implemented method to detect the ground speed of the railway vehicles is to use the rotary type speed sensor attached to wheel axle. The Slip or sliding phenomenon on the railway vehicles occurs frequently caused by the weak viscosity of the wheel. Thus, precisely to control the car, the slip/sliding detection system is required. In this paper we proposed for the speed data management system, which uses rotary type speed sensor. Proposed speed management system can detect the slip/sliding with wheel axle as well as correct the generated speed error during in error time, to provide accurate speed and precise location data. The effectiveness for adapting to the railway system is clarified by the computer simulation.

  • With the development of computer systems, there has been a sharp increase in the threats on these systems including attacks by malicious programs such as virus, vandal, etc. Currently virus vaccines are widely used to thwart these threats, but they have many weaknesses. They cannot guard against unknown threats and sometimes, they also cannot detect the existence of malicious programs before these malicious programs make any destructive results. For lack of an efficient security model, the existing security programs have the problem that they raise many false-positive alarms in spite of normal action. So it becomes very important to develop the improved security program that can make up for the weakness of the existing computer security program and can detect many threats of malicious programs as early as possible. In this paper we describe the design of an improved security model and the implementation of a security program that can filter and handle the threats on computer systems at the kernel level in real time.

Content-based Shot Boundary Detection from MPEG Data using Region Flow and Color Information (영역 흐름 및 칼라 정보를 이용한 MPEG 데이타의 내용 기반 셧 경계 검출)

  • It is an important step in video indexing and retrieval to detect shot boundaries on video data. Some approaches are proposed to detect shot changes by computing color histogram differences or the variances of DCT coefficients. However, these approaches do not consider the content or meaningful features in the image data which are useful in high level video processing. In particular, it is desirable to detect these features from compressed video data because this requires less processing overhead. In this paper, we propose a new method to detect shot boundaries from MPEG data using region flow and color information. First, we reconstruct DC images and compute region flow information and color histogram differences from HSV quantized images. Then, we compute the points at which region flow has discontinuities or color histogram differences are high. Finally, we decide those points as shot boundaries according to our proposed algorithm.
