In this paper, the nonlinear cylindrical bending of simply supported, functionally graded nanocomposite plates reinforced by single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs), is studied. The plates are subjected to uniform pressure loading in thermal environments and their geometric nonlinearity is introduced in the strain-displacement equations based on Von-Karman assumptions. The material properties of SWCNTs are assumed to be temperature-dependent and are obtained from molecular dynamics simulations. The material properties of functionally graded carbon nanotube-reinforced composites (FG-CNTCRs) are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction, and are estimated through a micromechanical model. The governing equations are reduced to linear differential equation with nonlinear boundary conditions yielding a simple solution procedure. Numerical results are presented to show the effect of the material distribution on the deflections and stresses.

The Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) has recently made potential improvements in face verification applications. In fact, different models based on the CNN have attained commendable progress in the classification rate using a massive amount of data in an uncontrolled environment. However, the enormous computation costs and the considerable use of storage causes a noticeable problem during training. To address these challenges, we focus on relevant data trained within the CNN model by integrating a lifting method for a better tradeoff between the data size and the computational efficiency. Our approach is characterized by the advantage that it does not need any additional space to store the features. Indeed, it makes the model much faster during the training and classification steps. The experimental results on Labeled Faces in the Wild and YouTube Faces datasets confirm that the proposed CNN framework improves performance in terms of precision. Obviously, our model deliberately designs to achieve significant speedup and reduce computational complexity in deep CNNs without any accuracy loss. Compared to the existing architectures, the proposed model achieves competitive results in face recognition tasks
Production of iodine-131 by neutron activation of tellurium in tellurium dioxide ($TeO_2$) material requires a target that meets the safety requirements. In a radiopharmaceutical production unit, a new lid for a can was designed, which permits tight sealing of the target by using tungsten inert gaswelding. The leakage rate of all prepared targets was assessed using a helium mass spectrometer. The accepted leakage rate is ${\leq}10^{-4}mbr.L/s$, according to the approved safety report related to iodine-131 production in the TRIGA Mark II research reactor (TRIGA: Training, Research, Isotopes, General Atomics). To confirm the resistance of the new design to the irradiation conditions in the TRIGA Mark II research reactor's central thimble, a study of heat effect on the sealed targets for 7 hours in an oven was conducted and the leakage rates were evaluated. The results show that the tightness of the targets is ensured up to $600^{\circ}C$ with the appearance of deformations on lids beyond $450^{\circ}C$. The study of heat transfer through the target was conducted by adopting a one-dimensional approximation, under consideration of the three transfer modes-convection, conduction, and radiation. The quantities of heat generated by gamma and neutron heating were calculated by a validated computational model for the neutronic simulation of the TRIGA Mark II research reactor using the Monte Carlo N-Particle transport code. Using the heat transfer equations according to the three modes of heat transfer, the thermal study of I-131 production by irradiation of the target in the central thimble showed that the temperatures of materials do not exceed the corresponding melting points. To validate this new design, several targets have been irradiated in the central thimble according to a preplanned irradiation program, going from4 hours of irradiation at a power level of 0.5MWup to 35 hours (7 h/d for 5 days a week) at 1.5MW. The results showthat the irradiated targets are tight because no iodine-131 was released in the atmosphere of the reactor building and in the reactor cooling water of the primary circuit.

Conceptual Modeling is the process of abstracting a model from a real or proposed system. It is probably the most important aspect of a simulation study. Relate works show that the elementary developers devoted little time to understanding how the systems actually worked, namely they didn't build appropriate conceptual model. Thus, the result of simulation is inconsistent because it depends on developer's competence. Although many researchers suggested various techniques enabling developer to build conceptual model, there were several limitations. In this study, to overcome the limitations of existing techniques, we proposed COMBINE-DES (COnceptual Model BuildINg framEwork using ontology for Discrete Event Simulation). The COM-BINE-DES supports expediting the conceptual modeling with Solution ontology generated by Domain ontology and Simulation ontology. Moreover, it provides consistent simulation result regardless of repeated modeling.

Unsteady three-dimensional reacting flowfield generated by transverse hydrogen injection into a supersonic mainstream is numerically investigated using DES and finite-rate chemistry model. Comparisons are made with experimental results to investigate the turbulent reacting flow physics. The numerical OH distribution describes well the experimental OH-PLIF result, while the numerical ignition delay time shows some disparity due to the restricted available experimental data. The intermittency phenomena are identified by the comparative analysis between RANS and DES. Those effects are also quantified by the temperature distributions along streamlines and superimposed OH mass fraction along with time.

In this paper, size dependent bending and free flexural vibration behaviors of functionally graded (FG) nanobeams are investigated using a nonlocal quasi-3D theory in which both shear deformation and thickness stretching effects are introduced. The nonlocal elastic behavior is described by the differential constitutive model of Eringen, which enables the present model to become effective in the analysis and design of nanostructures. The present theory incorporates the length scale parameter (nonlocal parameter) which can capture the small scale effect, and furthermore accounts for both shear deformation and thickness stretching effects by virtue of a hyperbolic variation of all displacements through the thickness without using shear correction factor. The material properties of FG nanobeams are assumed to vary through the thickness according to a power law. The neutral surface position for such FG nanobeams is determined and the present theory based on exact neutral surface position is employed here. The governing equations are derived using the principal of minimum total potential energy. The effects of nonlocal parameter, aspect ratio and various material compositions on the static and dynamic responses of the FG nanobeam are discussed in detail. A detailed numerical study is carried out to examine the effect of material gradient index, the nonlocal parameter, the beam aspect ratio on the global response of the FG nanobeam. These findings are important in mechanical design considerations of devices that use carbon nanotubes.
In this paper, a novel higher-order shear deformation theory (HSDT) is proposed for the analysis of the hygro-thermo-mechanical behavior of functionally graded (FG) plates resting on elastic foundations. The developed model uses a novel kinematic by considering undetermined integral terms and only four variables are used in this model. The governing equations are deduced based on the principle of virtual work and the number of unknown functions involved is reduced to only four, which is less than the first shear deformation theory (FSDT) and others HSDTs. The Navier-type exact solutions for static analysis of simply supported FG plates subjected to hygro-thermo-mechanical loads are presented. The accuracy and efficiency of the present model is validated by comparing it with various available solutions in the literature. The influences of material properties, temperature, moisture, plate aspect ratio, side-to-thickness ratios and elastic coefficients parameters on deflections and stresses of FG plates are also investigated.

Simulation model of outdoor block movement of shipyard is implemented in this paper. The load of the outdoor workshops in a shipyard influences a mid-term planning and scheduling of the shipyard. Since the load analysis is expected in advance before confirming the planning and scheduling, a discrete event simulation (DES) may be a good solution. The accuracy of DES is up to the accurate modeling of Products, Processes, and Resources (PPR) included in a system. PPR in the outdoor system are clearly defined and the simulation model for the outdoor logistics is implemented by modeling the selective PPR with the help of a DES tool which is programmable by users. The simulation model is verified by comparing the results with the real shipyard data. The outputs through the simulation are discussed.
A multiscale finite element method is applied to the Spalart-Allmaras turbulence model based detached-eddy simulation (DES). The multiscale arises from a decomposition of the scalar field into coarse (resolved) and fine (unresolved) scales. It corrects the lack of stability of the standard Galerkin formulation by modeling the scales that cannot be resolved by a given spatial discretization. The stabilization terms appear naturally and the resulting formulation provides effective stabilization in turbulent computations, where reaction-dominated effects strongly influence near-wall predictions. The multiscale DES is applied in the context of high-Reynolds flow over the Commonwealth Advisory Aeronautical Council (CAARC) standard tall building model, for both uniform and turbulent inflows. Time-averaged pressure coefficients on the exterior walls are compared with experiments and it is demonstrated that DES is able to resolve the turbulent features of the flow and accurately predict the surface pressure distributions under atmospheric boundary layer flows.

The present paper proposes some new computational methods and results in the framework of flow computation through congested domains seen as porous media, as it can be found in the core of a Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR). The flow is thus mostly governed by the distribution of pressure losses, both through the porous structures, such as fuel assemblies, and in the thin fluid layers between them. The purpose of the present paper is to consider the question of the interaction of a flow and a rod bundle from an analytical point of view gathering all the contributions through a set of equations as simple and representative as possible. It aims at demonstrating a sound understanding of the relevant phenomena governing the flow establishment in the geometry of interest instead of relying mainly on a posteriori observations obtained both experimentally and numerically. Comparison with two set of experimental results showed good agreement. The model proposed being analytical it appears easily implementable for studies needing an expression of fluid forces in a rod array as for fuel assembly bowing issue. It would be interesting to test the reliability of the model on other geometry with different P/R ratios.
