Transient Performance of a Hybrid Electric Vehicle with Multiple Input DC-DC Converter

  • Electric vehicles (EV) demands for greater acceleration, performance and vehicle range in pure electric vehicles plus mandated requirements to further reduce emissions in hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) increase the appeal for combined on-board energy storage systems and generators. And the power electronics plays an important role in providing an interface between fuel cells (FC) and loads. This paper deals with a multiple input DC-DC power converter devoted to combine the power flowing of multi-source on energy systems. The multi-source is composed of (i) FC system as a prime power demands, (ii) super capacitor banks as energy storage devices for high and intense power demands, (iii) superconducting magnetic energy storage system (SMES), (iv) multiple input DC-DC power converter and (v) a three phase inverter-fed permanent magnet synchronous motor as a drive. In this system, It is used super capacitor banks and superconducting magnetic energy replaces from the battery system. The modeling and transient performance simulation is effective for reducing transient influence caused by sudden charge of effective load. The main purpose of power electronic converters is to convert the DC power output from the fuel cell and other to a suitable AC voltage, which can be connected to electric loads directly (PMSM). The fuel cell and other output is connected to the DC-DC converter, which regulates the DC link voltage.

  • This paper presents the design and implementation of 1 kW prototype DC-DC power converter with bridge voltage-doubler suitable for small scale PEM fuel cell system and its associated control scheme. The operation principle of this converter is described using some operating waveforms and the switching mode equivalent circuits based on simulation results and a detailed circuit operation analysis and soft-switching conditions.

  • Fuel Cell (FC) has slow response characteristic for load variation. During a load step, the inverter cannot pull more power from the fuel cell than is currently available so supplemental power must be provide by some sort of energy storage elements. In this paper, hi-directional do-dc converter for FC generation system is proposed to improve load response characteristic. The hi-directional converter interfaces the low voltage battery to the inverter dc link of FC generation system. The converter is based on a active full bridge in the primary side and on a half bridge in the secondary of a high frequency isolation transformer. The complete operating principles and simulation results in presented.

  • Recently, the three phase AC to DC boost converter has become one of the most widely used power converters as DC power source in the industry applications. In this paepr, a three phase PWM AC toDC boost converter that operates with unity power factor and sinusodial input currents is presented. The current control of the converter is based onthe predicted current control strategy with fixed switching frequency and the input current tracks the reference cuent within one sampling time interval. Therefore, by using this control strategy low ripples in the output voltage, low harmonics in the input current and fast dynamic responses are achieved with a small capacitance in the DC link.

  • This paper presents a DC/DC LLC resonant converter with wide input/output voltage gain characteristics and its control method for efficiency improvement. For a wide input/output voltage gain characteristics without designing small transformer magnetization inductance, the proposed converter changes the topology into three modes of operation according to the main switch switching pattern. In each operating mode, variable LINK voltage modulation and frequency modulation were performed to control output voltage and improve operating efficiency. A prototype of a 5-kW DC/DC LLC resonant converter was built and tested to verify the validity and applicability of the proposed converter.

  • Filament power supply (FPS) for neutral beam injection (NBI) consists of an insulation type is a device that heats the interior of Tokamak. The input/output specifications of FPS are 3-phase AC 200[Vpeak] and DC16V/300A respectively. A conventional FPS is composed of a 3-phase diode rectifier with DC-link, a H-bridge DC/DC converter, a high frequency transformer, a secondary rectifier and a LC-filter. In this paper, to improve the efficiency of PSFB DC/DC converter it is substituted IGBT devices instead of diode rectifier in secondary side. The proposed method is verified by computer simulation and experiment result.

  • AC 배전 시스템에서 부하 기기의 국제 규제는 IEC 61000-3-12로 명확히 규제되어 있다. 이 규제는 지정된 조건으로 해당 부하 기기에서 발생할 수 있는 입력전류의 고조파 성분 허용 기준을 명시한다. 언급한 규제가 하이브리드 배전 시스템의 AC 부하에 적용되었을 때, 부하의 허용된 고조파 성분에 의한 DC 링크의 전류 리플과 전압 리플을 분석하였다. 부하 조건은 3상 평형 비선형 기기이다. 부하 전류와 DC 링크 전류, 전압 리플 및 실효값의 관계를 모든 주파수 영역에서 수식으로 보였으며, 3상 정류기 시뮬레이션을 통해 검증하였다.

  • In recent, complex SVPWM (Space Vector PWM) algorithm can be easily implemented by high performance microprocessor and DSP. Various SVPWM techniques are widely studied due to the advantages of low harmonic distortion and high use ratio of D.C. link voltage. Most of various studies for improving of VS-PWM inverter performance are concentrated about switching pattern and zero pulse pattern split algorithms. However, dc link voltage that is determined at rated load and speed conditions is not proper in the low speed and under rated load. In this paper, analysis of current ripple with digitally implemented SVPWM inverter is introduced according to link voltage. The optimal link voltage in the designed inverter system and load condition is provided in order to suppress output voltage error and current ripple. As remaining the effective voltage vector interval per sampling period sufficiently, additional voltage error and current ripple are suppressed. The proposed algorithm is verified through digital simulation and experimental results.

  • In this paper, a space vector concept is generalized for PWM(pulse-width modulated) inverters and PWM rectifiers with current link and voltage link respectively. Through representing three-phase variables as a space vector, we propose space vector modulations for PWM voltage and current source inverters, and PWM rectifiers with current link and voltage link. For these types, switching states of the switches are systematically analyzed from tables. It is shown in three-phase PWM rectifiers that power factor of the line current and output dc voltage can be controlled arbitrarily. The PWM rectifier with current link is also given as an example system.

  • 본 논문은 플래너 버스바가 적용된 BLDC 전동기 드라이브 시스템에서, 직류단 캐패시터 전단 전류를 이용한 BLDC 전동기의 상전류 추정 알고리즘을 제안한다. 플래너 버스바는 기생 인덕턴스의 크기를 최소화하여 스위칭 시 스파크에 의한 소자 파손을 방지하고, EMC (ElectroMagnetic Compatibility) 특성을 향상시킨다. 하지만 플래너 버스바의 장점을 극대화하기 위해서는 직류단 캐패시터의 전단에 전류 센서를 설치할 수밖에 없는 구조적 제약이 따른다. 직류단 캐패시터 전단에 설치된 전류 센서는 캐패시터에 흐르는 전류와 인버터 입력전류의 합을 측정하게 된다. 따라서 직류단 캐패시터 전단 전류로부터 인버터의 입력전류를 정확하게 추출하는 것이 BLDC 전동기의 전류 제어를 위해서는 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 BLDC 전동기의 온/오프 구간 동안의 등가 회로를 분석하여 캐패시터 전단 전류로부터 인버터 입력전류를 추정하는 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안된 알고리즘은 실험을 통해 그 타당성을 검증하였다.
