This paper proposes a method for fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control of DC-link voltage sensor for two-stage three-phase grid-connected PV inverters. Generally, the front-end DC-DC boost converter tracks the maximum power point (MPP) of PV array and the rear-end DC-AC inverter is used to generate a sinusoidal output current and keep the DC-link voltage constant. In this system, a sensor is essential for power conversion. A sensor fault is detected when there is an error between the sensed and estimated values, which are obtained from a DC-link voltage sensorless algorithm. Fault-tolerant control is achieved by using the estimated values. A deadbeat current controller is used to meet the dynamic characteristic of the proposed algorithm. The proposed algorithm is validated by simulation and experiment results.
As global warming accelerates, eco-friendly electric cars are being developed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and power conversion inverters are used to drive motors. Among inverter components, DC-link capacitor is heated by high current usage, which causes problems such as performance and life-saving of inverter. Although metal cases with good thermal performance have been used to solve this problem, it is difficult to apply them in practice due to insulation problems with other parts. In this paper, the Heat-Generation influence factor of DC-link capacitor is analyzed. Variables on heat-generation are set at 3 levels for film width, inductance, and film thickness. Box-Behnken to 13 tests using the design and minimal deviations, e.g. through the experiment three times by each level. The surface of the film k type by attaching the sensor current is measured temperature. Capacitance was set to a minimum level of 200 ㎌ and had a frequency of 16 kHz with Worst case, ambient temperature of 85℃ and a ripple current of 50 Ams was applied. The temperature at the measurement point was collected in the data logger after sampling at 1 minute intervals for 2 hours after saturation with the ambient temperature. This experiment confirmed that setup factors are correlated with heat-generation.
In order to improved the three phase GTO CSI of high efficiency IM drive with low loss commutation and snubber energy, we studied the energy recovery circuit to recover stored energy in clamping capacitor, dc link inductor and snubber capacitor, used an induction motor as the load of inverter. Specially, we investigated how dc input power is increased or decreased according to size of dc link inductor. The validity of this system is proved through experiment.

The industrial products to use single phase inverter are raised the necessity of power quality improvement, such as AC Motor Driver, Lighting, Renewable energy power converter. Also, it is increasing that applied the single phase multilevel inverter for high quality power at renewable energy power converter. Especially, the photovoltaic multilevel inverters have at least more than two DC_Link and more than one DC/DC Converter. This paper proposes a triple output DC/DC Converter with one switch for photovoltaic multilevel inverter. The proposed converter has advantages of low cost and volume because it has one switch. The operation principle of the converter is analyzed and verified. A prototype is implemented to verify of the proposed converter.

This paper proposes a seamless MPPT operation mode transfer method of photovoltaic system. The photovoltaic system consists of a DC-DC boost converter, a DC-Link, and a 3-level neutral point clamp (NPC) type inverter. The PV voltage fluctuates due to the output characteristics of the solar pane1 depending on the irradiation amount and the temperature. The photovoltaic system requires seamless MPPT mode transfer method that the discontinuity does not occur in order to supply the stable power to system without affecting the fluctuation of the PV voltage. MPPT operation is divided into two modes by the voltage reference. Under the condition that the PV voltage is below 650V, the DC-DC boost converter performs MPPT through duty control based on perturb & observe (P&O) method, and the inverter conducts DC-link voltage and grid current controls in synchronous reference frame. On the other hand, when the PV voltage exceeds above 650V, inverter performs MPPT in accordance with the variation of DC-link voltage control while the converter stops operating. Two MPPT operation modes is smoothly transferred through the proposed method that DC-link voltage or grid current commands are appropriately adjusted from the certain criteria. The feasibility of the MPPT operation mode transfer method is verified using a 10kW solar photovoltaic system, experimental results have good performances that the fluctuation of PV current is reduced to 100%.
This paper proposes a novel scheme which can compensate the common-mode voltage (CMV) for five-level active neutralpoint clamped (5L-ANPC) inverters, which is based on modifying the space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) and adding an auxiliary leg to the inverter. For the modified SVPWM, only the 55 voltage vectors producing low CMV values among the 125 possible voltage vectors are utilized, which varies over the three voltage levels of $-V_{dc}/12$, 0 V, and $V_{dc}/12$. In addition, the compensating voltage, which is injected into the 5L-ANPC inverter system to cancel the remaining CVM through a common-mode transformer (CMT) is generated by the additional NPC leg. By the proposed method, the CMV of the inverter is fully eliminated, while the utilization of the DC-link voltage is not decreased at all. Furthermore, all of the DC-link and flying capacitor voltages of the inverter are well controlled. Simulation and experimental results have verified the validity of the proposed scheme.

A pulse width modulation-voltage source inverter (PWM-VSI) is used for variable speed permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives. The PWM-VSI fed PMSM has two major disadvantages. Firstly, the PWM-VSI DC-link voltage limits the magnitude of the PMSM terminal voltage. As a result, the motor speed is restricted. Secondly, in a low speed range, the PWM-VSI modulation index declines. This is caused by a high DC-link voltage and a low terminal voltage ratio. As a result, the distortion of the voltage command and the stator current are increased. This paper proposes an optimal pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) control which can adjust the inverter DC-link voltage by using a buck-boost DC-DC converter. At a low speed range, the proposed system can reduce the distortion of the voltage command, which improves the stator current waveform. Also, the allowable speed range is extended. In order to verify the proposed method, experimental results are provided to confirm the simulation results.
In this paper we present a Capacitor Charging Power Supply (CCPS) using a series-resonant three-level inverter topology to improve voltage regulation and use semiconductor switches having low blocking voltage capability such as MOSFETs. This inverter can be operated with two modes, Full Power Mode (FPM) and Half Power Mode (HPM). In FPM inverter supplies the high frequency step up transformer with full DC-link voltage and in HPM with half DC-link voltage. HPM switching method will be adopted when CCPS output voltage reaches the preset target value and operates in refresh mode-charge is maintained on the capacitor. In this topology each semiconductor devices blocks a half of the DC-link voltage[2]. A 15kW, 30kV CCPS has been built and will be tested for an electric precipitator application. The CCPS operates from an input voltage of 500VDC and has a variable output voltage between 10 to 30kV and 1kHz repetition rate at 44nF capacitive load [3]. A resonant frequency of 67.9kHz was selected and a voltage regulation of $0.83\%$ has been achieved through the use of half power mode without using the forced cut off the switch current [1]. The theory of operation, circuit topology and test results are given.

A novel resonant pulse control technique which generates high-quality sinusoidal output voltage from a resonant dc link inverter is presented for UPS applicatons. The proposed control technique limits resonant voltae overshoot without any passive or active clamp circuit, resulting in resonant pulses iwth uniform amplitude and high efficiency. The output voltage is controlled by the third order contorller iwth an inner loop of th efilter inductor current and the feedforward controller. Analysis and design of the proposed control technique are illustrated and verified on a 5kVA experimental unit.

This paper proposes an inverter for the grid-connected photovoltaic system based on the transformer-less inverter. This system consists of a high frequency DC-DC converter, high frequency transformer, diode bridge rectifiers, a DC filter, a low frequency inverter, and an AC filter. The 20kHz switched high frequency converter is used to generate bipolar PWM pulse, and the high frequency transformer transforms its voltage twice, which is subsequently rectified by diode bridge rectifiers for a full-wave rectified 60 Hz sine wave power output. Even though the high frequency link system needs more power semiconductors, a reduced size, light weight, and saved parts cost make this system more comparative than other power conditioning systems due to elimination of 60Hz transformer.
