  • This paper proposes a robust control system with the disturbance observer for BLDC servo system. The overall control system is composed of the speed controller which is implemented with PI controller and the disturbance observer with free parameters. The BLDC servo system can improve the closed loop characteristics without affecting the command input response. The characteristics of the closed loop system is improved by suppressing disturbance effectively with the disturbance observer. Measurement noise is also considered by adjusting bandwidth of free parameters. We can overcome the drawbacks of the conventional PI controller. Finally, the performance of the controller is analyzed theoretically and some simulation results are presented to demonstrate the better performance than the conventional PI controllers.

  • Direct drive servovalve(DDV) is a kind of one-stage valve since the rotary motion of DC motor is directly transferred to the linear motion of valve spool through the link. Since the structure of DDV is simple, it is less expensive, more reliable and offers reduced internal leakage and reduced sensitivity to fluid contamination. However, the flow force effect on the spool motion is significant such that it induces large steady-state error in a step response. If the proportional control gain is increased to reduce the steady-state error, the system becomes unstable. In order to satisfy the system design requirements, the classical controller is designed using the analytical Bode method.

  • In this paper, for fuzzy control of linear servo system using the moving coil type linear DC motor, we propose a new fuzzy control method using parameter tuning for membership functions. A proposed fuzzy control method tunes parameters of membership function to have an appropriate control input signal for system when error exceeds predefined value and makes an inference using conventional fuzzy control rules when error reduces to a predefined value. To verify usefulness of a proposed fuzzy control method, making simulation and experiment, we compare with characteristics for conventional fuzzy control method.

  • In this paper the application of variable structure control with sliding modes for improving the dynamic response and eliminating chattering of DC servo motor drive is presented. Sliding mode control is an effective means to keep a system insensitive to parameter variation and disturbances. In this method the control structure is changed discontinuously to farce the system dynamic to follow a predetermined trajectory. However the discontinuous change in control structure causes the controller input to chatter and gives non-zero steady state error. To overcome this problem, the discontinuous sign function is replaced by a proper continuous function, and presented through experiment.

  • A microprocessor-based incremental servo system with a variable structure is presented. New system properties are obtained by composing a desired trajectory from the parts of trajectories of different structures. It is implemented with Z-80A microprocessor to control a dc motor, and fast response without overshoot and good steady-state accuracy can be easily obtained.

  • In this paper , the author proposed FLVSC (Fuzzy Logic Variable Structure Controller),of which control rules are extracted from the concepts of VSC(Variable Structure Control). FLC(Fuzzy Logic Controller) based on linguistic rules has the advantages of not needing of some exact mathematical model for plant to be controlled. The proposed method has the characteristics which are viewed in conventional VSC, e.g. insensitivity to a class of disturbances, parameter variations and uncertainties in sliding mode. In addition, the method has the properties of FLC-noise rejection capability etc. The computer simulations have been carried out for position control of DC servo motor to show the usefulness of the proposed method and the effects of disturbances and parameter variations are considered.

  • In this paper, a class of neural-network controllers with two inputs of error and error change, is applied to the position control of D.C. servo system. The proposed controller is learned by error back-propagating error information to compensate the weighting value using its previous derivatives and to decrease exponentially a series of self learning coefficients. Through the simulations and implementations, the effectiveness and superiority to the conventional fuzzy controller is proved.
