직류급전 시스템의 Autonomous Operation을 위한 교류연계장치와 에너지 저장의 Droop Control (A Droop Control for the Autonomous Operation of DC Distribution System using Grid-tied Converter and Energy Storage)

  • This paper describes a droop control method for the autonomous operation of DC distribution system using distributed generations and energy storage. The method suppress the circulating current, and each unit could be controlled autonomously without communication system. Detailed model of wind power generation, photo-voltaic generation, fuel-cell generation and battery was implemented with the user-defined model of PSCAD/EMTDC software that is coded with C-language. The simulation and experimental results confirms that the proposed DC distribution system make it feasible to provide power to the load stably and verify effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • In recent years, many researches for DC power distributed system (PDS) are being preformed and the importance of the DC PDS is more and more emphasized. Furthermore, in the railway system, the DC PDS is used in subway station lighting, facilities, etc. In the DC PDS, DC bus voltage instability may be occurred by the operation of multiple parallel loads such as pulsed power load, motor drive system, and constant power loads. Thus, good quality and high reliability for electric power are required and voltage bus conditioner (VBC) may be used the DC PDS. The VBC is a DC/DC converter for mitigation of the bus transients. In this paper, adaptive controller is designed. The simulation results by PSIM are presented for validating the proposed control algorithm.

직류배전용 가변속 디젤발전기 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of a Variable Speed Diesel Generator for DC Distribution)

  • 본 연구에서는 국내외적으로 환경문제 및 에너지절감의 일환으로 직류배전시스템을 선박에 적용하려는 연구 및 실증이 활발히 수행되고 있으며, 발전기를 직류배전시스템에 적용하기 위해서는 가변속 엔진을 적용하여 저부하 영역에서 발전기의 엔진 회전수를 줄여 연료소모량을 절감할 수 있는 방안이 제시되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 디젤발전기를 이용하여 발전기 컨트롤러, 가버너, AVR을 이용하여 직류배전용 가변속발전기를 구성하였으며, 발전기의 시스템 구성 방법, 가변속 발전에 따른 전력품질 시험(전압 및 주파수 변동특성, 부하변동 특성)을 통해 가변속 발전기의 전력특성을 분석 하였다. 가변속 발전기의 전압(250 ~ 440 VAC) 및 주파수(34 ~ 60 Hz)는 정격의 60 ~ 100 %로 구성하였으며, 엔진은 1100 ~ 1800 rpm 범위에서 운전되도록 설정 하였다. 부하변동에 따라 발전기의 엔진속도를 변경시켜서 발전기 출력의 전압, 전류, 주파수가 전력량에 따라 안정적으로 변동되는 것을 확인하였다.

Development of Fault Detector for Series Arc Fault in Low Voltage DC Distribution System using Wavelet Singular Value Decomposition and State Diagram

  • It is well known that series arc faults in Low Voltage DC (LVDC) distribution system occur at unintended points of discontinuity within an electrical circuit. These faults can make circuit breakers not respond timely due to low fault current. It, therefore, is needed to detect the series fault for protecting circuits from electrical fires. This paper proposes a novel scheme to detect the series arc fault using Wavelet Singular Value Decomposition (WSVD) and state diagram. In this paper, the fault detector developed is designed by using three criterion factors based on the RMS value of Singular value of Approximation (SA), Sum of the absolute value of Detail (SD), and state diagram. LVDC distribution system including AC/DC and DC/DC converter is modeled to verify the proposed scheme using ElectroMagnetic Transient Program (EMTP) software. EMTP/MODELS is also utilized to implement the series arc model and WSVD. Simulation results according to various conditions clearly show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

  • DC system is still unexploited in public distribution systems. As the weight of cost efficiency and reliability requirements of distribution networks are expected to increase in the future, with the utilization of distributed generation, there will be demand for novel distribution techniques. The utilization of the Low Voltage DC (LVDC) distribution system opens new possibilities for network development. This paper presents analysis of steady state and transient state according to the number of pole in LVDC distribution system.

  • In recent years, as the demand for distributed power has increased, the need for microgrids connected to grid power and renewable power generation sources has emerged. In the case of DC microgrids, reactive power does not occur, and power conversion losses are reduced compared to AC when connecting to the load and power grid[2]. With the revitalization of the DC distribution network industry, various studies and demonstrations of DC microgrids have been carried out. In the case of the recent unit distribution, its stability and effectiveness have been verified through empirical and research analysis. However, there is a lack of empirical tests to prevent chain accidents for the protection of the power grid circuits and the misoperation of the distributed power system caused by individual accidents when connecting various distributed power sources and power grids. In this paper, the operation plan of a stable multi-circuit DC distribution connection for the demonstration site was verified through the protection cooperation and operation algorithm for the stable linkage management of the DC distribution network composed of such a multi-circuit.

  • This study introduces a model predictive control method for controlling a cascaded flying capacitor multilevel rectifier used as an AC-DC rectifier of a solid-state transformer for DC distribution systems. The proposed method reduces the number of states that need to be considered in model predictive control by separately controlling input current, output DC link voltage, and flying capacitor voltage. Thus, calculation time is shortened to facilitate the level expansion of the cascaded flying capacitor multilevel rectifier. The selection of weighting factors did not present difficulties because the weighting factors in the cost function of the conventional model predictive control are not used. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through computer simulation using powersim and experiment.

Robust Safety Circuits for DC Powered Home Appliances in Transient State

  • In this paper, for the development of a safe and reliable DC home appliance suitable for DC home power supply system, we classified a number of inherent problems with help of the comparative analysis of existing AC and new DC home appliance. Several new technical problems of DC home appliances are mainly linked to the DC transient state. Among them, this paper concentrates on start-up inrush current problem, uni-polarity problem, and heavy DC load control problem. And to address these problems, we herein present an implementation of robust safety circuits for DC home appliances. Specifically, we investigate several multi-circuit countermeasures and select the best among them through comparative evaluation, based on theoretical, simulational, and experimental results.

  • 손쉬운 제어성, 운용성 등 다양한 이유로 디지털 부하가 급증하고 있고 이와 함께 부하의 소비 패턴은 직류화 되고 있다. 그러나 공급되는 전력은 교류 전원이므로 실질적으로 필요로 하는 부하의 공급 전원인 직류 전원을 만족하기 위하여 교류 전원을 다시 직류로 변환하여 사용하고 있다. 태양광, 풍력, 연료전지 등 신재생 에너지원의 경우 직류 발전을 하는 발전원으로 교류로 변환을 통해 계통에 유입되고 다시 직류로 변환되어 부하에 공급하게 되는 다단 변환을 하게 되어 손실은 지속적으로 증가하게 된다. 에너지원의 효율적인 사용을 위한 직류 기반의 배전 시스템이 필요로 하나, 부하뿐만 아니라 보호 기능을 구현하기 위한 직류 배선용 차단기의 개발이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 영구 자석을 이용한 아크 소호 기술과 하이브리드 아크 소호 기술을 이용한 직류 아크 소호 기술에 대한 연구를 통하여 안정적인 직류 배전 시스템 운용을 위한 계통 및 기기 보호가 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

  • 본 논문에서는 최근 DC 전력케이블에서 큰 이슈가 되고 있는 공간전하(space charge) 문제와 관련하여 공간전하의 비파괴 측정법 중 하나인 펄스정전응력법(PEA method)에 대한 이론적 고찰을 수행하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 직류전압 하에서 고분자 유전체 내에서 공간전하분포를 측정할 수 있는 시스템을 개발하였다. 또한, 보정(deconvolution) 처리를 통해 왜곡된 공간전하 신호에 대한 개선을 실시함으로써 신호의 정확도를 개선하였다.
