  • The content based on image retrieval makes use of features of information within image such as color, texture and share for Retrieval data. we present a novel approach for improving retrieval accuracy based on DCT Filter-Bank. First, we perform DCT on a given image, and generate a Filter-Bank using the DCT coefficients for each color channel. In this step, DC and the limited number of AC coefficients are used. Next, a feature vector is obtained from the histogram of the quantized DC coefficients. Then, AC coefficients in the Filter-Bank are separated into three main groups indicating horizontal, vertical, and diagonal edge directions, respectively, according to their spatial-frequency properties. Each directional group creates its histogram after employing Otsu binarization technique. Finally, we project each histogram on the horizontal and vertical axes, and generate a feature vector for each group. The computed DC and AC feature vectors bins are concatenated, and it is used in the similarity checking procedure. We experimented using 1,000 databases, and as a result, this approach outperformed the old retrieval method which used color information.

  • In this letter, the distributions of direct current (DC) coefficients for P-frames in H.264/AVC are analyzed, and the distortion model of the Gaussian source under the quantization of the dead-zone plus-uniform threshold quantization with uniform reconstruction quantizer is derived. Experimental results show that the DC coefficients of P-frames are best approximated by the Laplacian distribution and the Gaussian distribution at small quantization step sizes and at large quantization step sizes, respectively.

  • Video data is usually stored in a compressed format in order to reduce the storage space. For efficient browsing, searching, and retrieval of compressed video sequences, size-reduced images (or DC images which are formed with block DC coefficients) are generally preferred to avoid unnecessary computational complexity. In this paper, we propose a DC image extraction scheme appropriate for scene analysis and efficient browsing of compressed video sequences. The proposed algorithm utilizes predicted low frequency AC coefficients to achieve better approximation and to reduce the error drift. Due to the AC prediction based on a quadratic surface model, the proposed scheme requires no additional memory compared with the previous zero-order or first-order approximation scheme. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme achieves better subjective and objective quality with minor additional operations.

  • In this paper, we proposed a fast detection method of copy-move forgery image based on low frequency coefficients of the DCT coefficients. We proposed a new matching criterion of copy-moved forgery image detection (MCD) using discrete cosine transform. For each $8{\times}8$ pixel block, the DCT transform is calculated. Our algorithm uses low frequency four (DC, 3 AC coefficient) and six coefficients (DC, 5 AC coefficients) of DCT per $8{\times}8$ pixel block. Our algorithm worked block matching for DCT coefficients of the $8{\times}8$ pixel block is slid by one pixel along the image from the upper left corner to the lower right corner. Our algorithm can reduce computational complexity more than conventional copy moved forgery detection algorithms.

  • This paper proposes a pulse width modulation (PWM)-based sliding mode controller (SMC) for a full-bridge DC-DC converter that can eliminate static output voltage error. Hysteretic SMC in DC-DC converter does not have a fixed switching frequency, and applying hysteretic SMC to full-bridge converters is difficult. Fixed-frequency SMC, which is also called PWM-based SMC, based on equivalent control overcomes these shortcomings. However, the controller order reduction in equivalent control in PWM-based SMC causes static output voltage error. To resolve this issue, an integral item is added to the PWM-based SMC. Sliding mode coefficients are designed by applying a standard second-order system to the sliding mode surface. The effect of adding an integral item on the controller is analyzed, and an integral coefficient design method is proposed. Experiment results on a three-level full-bridge DC-DC converter verify the control scheme and design method proposed in this paper.

  • In this paper, an efficient hardware architecture is proposed for inverse transform and inverse quantization of H.264/AVC decoder. The previous inverse transform and quantization architecture has a different AC and DC coefficients decoding order. In the proposed architecture, IQ is achieved after IT regardless of the DC or AC coefficients. A common operation unit is also proposed to reduce the computational complexity of inverse quantization. Since division operation is included in the previous architecture, it will generate errors if the processing order is changed. In order to solve the problem, the division operation is achieved after IT to prevent errors in the proposed architecture. The architecture is implemented with 3-stage pipeline and a parallel vertical and horizontal IDCT is also implemented to reduce the operation cycle. As a result of analyzing the proposed ITIQ architecture operation cycle for one macroblock, the proposed one has improved by 45% than the previous one.

  • In this paper, we designed the RF-DC converter used in wireless power transmission system and studied how to design the RF-DC converter of high conversion efficiency. The RF-DC converter operate at 2.45GHz and the diode is connected with series. The RF-DC converter uses shorted stub for DC loop and matching. We can divide the RF-DC converter circuit into four blocks. The reflection coefficients between the blocks were optimized for the maximum conversion efficiency at 0 dBm input power and $1300{\Omega}$ load impedance. The final design of the RF-DC converter has a 52 percent conversion efficiency.

  • An adaptive correlation noise model (CNM) construction algorithm is proposed in this paper to increase the efficiency of parity bits for correcting errors of the side information in transform domain Wyner-Ziv (WZ) video coding. The proposed algorithm introduces two techniques to improve the accuracy of the CNM. First, it calculates the mean of direct current (DC) coefficients of the original WZ frame at the encoder and uses it to assist the decoder to calculate the CNM parameters. Second, by considering the statistical property of the transform domain correlation noise and the motion characteristic of the frame, the algorithm adaptively models the DC coefficients of the correlation noise with the Gaussian distribution for the low motion frames and the Laplacian distribution for the high motion frames, respectively. With these techniques, the proposed algorithm is able to make a more accurate approximation to the real distribution of the correlation noise at the expense of a very slight increment to the coding complexity. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can improve the average peak signal-to-noise ratio of the decoded WZ frames by 0.5 dB to 1.5 dB.

  • In this paper, we propose the method using PCA(principal component analysis) algorithm when proposed algorithm performs multimedia information indexing. After we extract DC coefficients of DCT from MPEG video stream which is an international standard of moving picture compression coding, we apply PCA algorithm to image made of DC coefficients and extract the feature of each DC image. Using extracted features, we generate codebook and perform multimedia information indexing. The proposed algorithm Is very fast when indexing and can generate optimized codebook because of using statistical feature of data

  • In this paper, we propose an improved distributed multi-view video coding method that is robust to illumination changes among different views. The use of view dependency is not effective for multi-view video because each view has different intrinsic and extrinsic camera parameters. In this paper, a modified distributed multi-view coding method is presented that applies illumination compensation when generating side information. The proposed encoder codes DC values of discrete cosine transform (DCT) coefficients separately by entropy coding. The proposed decoder can generate more accurate side information by using the transmitted DC coefficients to compensate for illumination changes. Furthermore, AC coefficients are coded with conventional entropy or channel coders depending on the frequency band. We found that the proposed algorithm is about 0.1~0.5 dB better than conventional algorithms.
