Development of an Integrated DB Management System for GIS-Based Client/Server Data Sharing in Climate and Environment Fields (GIS기반의 기후·환경 분야 자료 공유를 위한 Client/Server 방식의 통합DB 관리시스템 개발)

  • To identify major causes of the global environment changes arising from extreme and unusual weather patterns occurring these days, and to foresee future environmental changes, it is highly important to shed light on the correlation between climate changes and global environment system. To investigate the correlation between climate changes and global environment system, it calls for establishing an integrated climate-environment DB for analyzing comparatively the data on climatic changes and global environment system. In the preceding studies, we researched an XML-based integrated climate-environment DB and developed a management system for the DB. However, the existing integrated climate-environment DB, designed and installed only for individual PCs, does not allow multiple users 'simultaneous access. Accordingly, it fails to systematically update and sharing data which is being generated continuingly. Hence, this study aims to develop an easy-to-use GIS-based integrated DB management system by improving the existing integrated climate-environment DB through the adoption of the client/server model. For this, this study collected and analyzed climate and environment data prior to designing and building a DBMS-based integrated DB. In addition, in order for multidisciplinary researchers to easily get access and apply the integrated DB, this study designed and developed a GIS-based integrated DB management system using a client/server model which facilitates connections with multiple PCs. The GIS-based integrated climate-environment DB management system makes it easier to efficiently manage and locate scattered climate-environment data. It is also expected that the DB system will bring the effects in saving time and cost by avoiding the overlapping generation of data in the areas of integrated climate-environment research.

  • Speech DB is basically required factor when we are study for phonetics, speech recognition and speech synthesis and so on. The quantity and quality of speech DB decide the efficiency of system that we develop. therefore. speech DB has an extremely important factor, Recently, development of the various telephone service technique such as voice portal. it is actual condition where the necessity of collection of telephone speech DB. The existing IVR application telephone speech DB collection system used C/C++ language or the exclusive development tool. Thus it is the actual condition where the recycle of each application service for resources is difficult and have a problem of many labors and time necessity. But. VoiceXML is a language having tag form ipredicated in XML. which has easy and simple grammar system. Therefore, if we make a few efforts we could draw up easily. it has a merit reducing labors and time, Also, VoiceXML has many advantages of various telephone speech DB gathering because of changing contents of DB. In this paper, we introduce telephone speech DB gathering system which is the mast important factor for development of speech information processing technique.

  • Quite a while ago, Organizations which have slope DB system was running slope of management in several. Frequently, Slope failure was happened by abnormal weather and limit of valuation system at the managed slope. Analysis of other organization slope DB systems is very important that slope DB system maintains same regions on geology. In Korea, slope DB system was running at KEC(Korea Expressway Corporation), Korail(Korea Railroad), and KIGAM(Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources). We research theirs DB constructing. For reviewed slope DB system of other country, we searched NLIC(Natural Landslide Information Center)'s DB system in U.S.A., GEO's LPM(landslide Prevention Measures) program in Hongkong, DPRI' ILC(International Consortium on Landslides) program in Japan, and AGSO(Australian Geological Survey Organization)'s NGVUC program in Australia.

  • Defects on apartment which is one of the major residential types in Korea have produced unexpected inconveniences to owners of apartments. If construction companies paid more careful attention to defect information management, a lot of flaws could be prevented. In this situation, this study attempted to seek improved defect information DB management system. First, research on defect information DB management system of large construction firms was conducted to confirm necessities of improved system. Following survey showed problems of current defect information DB management system and the need of improvement. The study came up with remedies expected to contribute to preventing faults.

  • Local government has constructed GIS DB for efficient business achievement and effective management of complex city facilities and has been developing and utilizing application systems, such as Underground Facility Management System Road Management System and so on. However, Facility Management System is providing functions for business, but not for GIS DB's maintenance. City facilities GIS DB managed by GIS technical expert collects basic figure and attribute information through survey and field investigation and is constructed via complex process, such as structurize editing etc. So it has been concerned that the update and confidence of CIS DB can be lower if a business man who does not have enough experiences about Facility Management System operates it by himself. Therefore, functions that enable business users to operate Facility Management System easily should be provided.

  • This work presents OLP system made independently in HSD for sub-assembly welding robot system set already and assembly welding robot system developed lately on the low speed diesel engines.   • This research attempts to investigate the way of establishing a systematic and consistent review results by utilizing DB system of broadcasting content, which has been operated by Korea Communications Standards Commission. The current problems of DB system was analyzed and compared with review system of other contents regulating organizations to seek better alternatives. The results show that related information are recorded in review DB of other organizations in detail, so that committee members can utilize DB system in making consistent and objective judgment. In addition, other contents regulating organizations open the review results to the public and enhance the accessibility, so that people can make use of the DB. It is necessary to improve review DB in a systematic and efficient way for broadcasters and contents productions to accept and consent the review results.

  • The purpose of this study is to discuss the theoretical and practical strategies for the quality management of a union database built in a distributed system. To the end, this study introduces the quality control methods employed for the OCLC union catalog, which has been built in a distributed system and also known as the most typical union DB. The main discussion is about the quality issue of KORDIC's SATURN DB, the most typical union DB in South Korea. The final recommendation includes the management strategies and practical guidelines for the efficient quality control of a union DB built in a distributed system.

  • In the RFID system, bulk tag information is stored into the back-end database as plaintext format not ciphertext. In this case, the tags's private informations can be easily compromised by an external hacker or an insider attacker. If the private informations of tags disclosed by the attackers, it can occur serious privacy invasion problem. Recently the database(DB) security is an important issue to prevent the above DB compromised attack. However, DB security for RFID systeme has not been considered yet. If we use the DB security technique into the RFID system, the above described privacy invasion' problem can be easily prevented. Based on this motivation, this paper proposes a secure and efficient back-end database security and authentication(S-DB) scheme with XOR-based encryption/decryption algorithm. In the proposed scheme, all tag's private information is encrypted and stored by using the DB secret key to protect the DB compromised attack. As a result, the proposed S-DB scheme 'can provide stronger security and more efficiency for the secure RFID system environment.

  • The estuarine area of the ecological environment had been seriously damaged by reckless developments during the past half century. The demand for management in estuarine area increased but the efficient management system did not exist. Therefore the aim of this study is to develop a GIS-based integrated DB management system by integrating the ecological environmental data of each division in estuarine area. To achieve this, the system used integrated DB. It is classified into a surveyed monitoring DB in 2010 at estuarine area of Yeongsan and GIS DB to express the spatial data. The integrated DB management system was developed using VisualBasic.NET languages and Arcobjects component for Map-based spatial analysis. Also, to improve the utilization of data, the composition of GUI(Graphical User Interface) through user needs analysis, the expression of monitoring DB, the priority of layer and the function for modular unit were defined. Ultimately the system was developed based on the defined items. GIS-based integrated DB management system can support to understand the ecological environment in estuarine area of Yeongsan river. Also it will provide the users with effective sharing and environmental management of the data. In the future study, comprehensive diagnosis for ecological environment in estuarine area and the reliable prediction need to be made by connecting modeling system.
