Introducing an Integrated Library Information Service with Learning Management System: Library on Blackboard from Murray State University Libraries (미국 대학도서관의 수업지원 시스템과 연계한 맞춤형 정보검색 서비스에 대한 고찰 - 머레이 주립 대학(MSU)의 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study presents a model of the integrated online library service with LMS (Learning Management System). The new library service is called 'Library on Blackboard' which was developed and implemented by Murray State University Libraries in Murray, Kentucky, USA. This user-centered service with applied information technology has the potential to enhance the quality of the library performance in university libraries. The introduction of the Learning Management System in South Korea has a potential to enhance the education environment and promote new library services. With the emergence of new information technologies and growing popularity in online classes and distance education programs, the importance and usage of Learning Management Systems in higher education has increased.

  • Recently, the expert call center solution has become the center of interest, since finance and tele-marketing system, which is focused on a communication industry, have been increasing, Specially, the call center market is growing up with a supporting Caller-ID for a cellular phone in Korea, In the present, although large size companies are developing expensive solutions and instruments to service only for the big companies, there little solutions for SOHO markets, Therefore, in this paper we have shown a design and an implementation of a CTI system which is capable of in/outbound call processing by using CTI, and providing stable services by linking the customer's DB. And these functionalities have become possible by integrating functions of PBX and the computer control of the PBX. First, we have constructed call flows and analyzed packets for the standard communication through the PBX in call. Then, we have designed and implemented a middleware which linked a call between a client and a customer. Finally, we have constructed a database module for applying the CRM technology to the management of customer's contents.

Design and Development of Carbon Emission Monitoring System in Sejong City, Korea (세종시 탄소배출 모니터링시스템(CEMS)의 설계)

  • Many kinds of carbon emission monitoring systems or integrated systems have been developed so far. However, despite of the development of related techniques, they tend to be lack of statistic processing functions for feedback and policy-making data for users. In this study, a new CEMS (Carbon Emission Monitoring System) has been suggested and implemented in Sejong City, Korea. This system adapted automatic remote reading system from the site management agency as data hub to collect the electricity, gas and water usage of each household. The CEMS is consisted of 6 parts; carbon emission measurement, carbon emission standard setup and management, statistic analysis and the incentives. CEMS is distinguished with other systems for its UIs for users and the administrators. Also, data sharing with urban information system(UIS) of local government to produce information for users and policy-makers. This system makes it possible to investigate the change of energy consumption patterns, especially depending on the family structure and the housing characteristics. Furthermore, analyzing their correlation with carbon emission, it is expected to provide basic data used to establish urban environmental policies.

A Case Study on Archival Seeking Behavior of Korean History Teachers in High Schools: Focused on the Local Communities of History Teachers (고등학교 역사교사의 기록물 이용행태 사례 연구 - 지역 역사교사모임을 중심으로 -)

  • This study is to investigate archival use behavior of history teachers in high schools. The study conducted 3 times interviews with high school history teachers and carried out a survey on recognition of archives, archival use, archival seeking behavior, and harrier factors for archival use to 30 teachers from the 2 local communities of history teachers. According to the survey, history teachers have used archives for raising the historical understanding by students in their classes. But the tight curriculums of history and the lack of time to search archives were barrier factors for teachers to use archives in their classes. The teachers who participated in this survey suggested that integrated DBs of archives in Korea and source books with commentaries need to promote use of archives in history classes.

  • In recent years, medical procedures have become more complex, while financial pressures for shortened hospital stays and increased efficiency in patient care have increased. As a result, several shortcomings of present film-based systems for managing medical images have become apparent. Maintaining film space is labor intensive and consumes valuable space. Because only single copies of radiological examinations exist, they are prone to being lost or misplaced, thereby consuming additional valuable time and expense. In this paper, Any-PACS for image archiving, transmission, and viewing offers a solution to these problems. Proposed Any-PACS consists of mainly four parts such as Web Module, Client-Server Module, Internal Module, Acquisition Module. In addition, Any-PACS system includes DICOM Converter that Non-DICOM file format converts standard file format. In Client-Server Module case, Proposed system is combined both SCU(Service Class Use: Client) part and SCP(Service Class provider: Server)part therefore this system provides the high resolution image processing techniques based on windows platform. Because general PACS system is too expensive for Medium and Small hospitals to install and operate the full-PACS. Also, we constructed Web Module for database connection through the WWW.

  • Recently, there are various attempts to construct a u-City and a smart city. A Spatial information as the city-based infrastructure has been recognized as an essential element. In many cases GIS data being lack of compatibility due to the various format, it is difficult to provide public web services and link the data between government organizations. In this study, we developed a interconnection Server based on OGC standardization to support interoperability in a heterogeneous distributed environment. we hope the interconnection server that will be utilized as u-City platform and response platform for volcanic disaster through the test in the test-bed.

제조기업 현장 데이터를 이용한 빅데이터 분석시스템 모델

  • 오늘날 BI(Business Intelligence)시스템 다차원 데이터를 다루는 많은 방법들이 제안되어 TB 이상의 데이터를 다룰 수 있다. 하지만 IT 전문가 및 IT에 대한 투자여력이 충분하지 않은 중소 제조 기업들은 발 맞춰가기 힘들다. 또한 생산관리시스템(MES)을 미 도입한 기업이 대다수이고, 존재하는 현장데이터의 대부분도 수기데이터 또는 Excel 데이터로 보관 되어 있어, 수작업에 의한 데이터 분석과 의사결정을 수행한다. 이로 인해, 불량 요인 파악이나 이상 현상 파악이 불분명하기 때문에 데이터 분석에 어려움을 겪는다. 이에 본 연구에서는 중소제조기업의 경쟁력 강화를 위하여 제조 기업현장에서 사용되는 데이터를 자동으로 수집하여 정제 및 처리하여 저장이 가능하도록 하는 빅 데이터 분석 시스템 모델을 개발하였다. 이 분석 시스템 모델은 ERP, MIS 등에 존재하는 데이터들이 각 시스템의 DB 기능을 활용하여 데이터를 추출하고 정제하여 수집하는 ETL(Extract Transform Loading)과정을 통한다. 현장에서 비정형으로 기록되고 있는 정보들(ex. Excel)은 ODE(Office Data Excavation)모듈을 통해 문서의 패턴을 자동으로 인식하고 정형화된 정보로서 추출, 정제되어 수집된다. 저장된 데이터는 오픈소스 데이터 시각화 라이브러리인 D3.js를 이용하여 다양한 chart들을 통한 강력한 시각효과를 제공함으로써, 정보간의 연관 관계 및 다차원 분석의 기반을 마련하여 의사결정체계를 효과적으로 지원한다. 또한, 높은 가격에 형성되어 있는 빅데이터 솔루션을 대신해 오픈소스 Spago BI를 이용하여 경제적인 빅 데이터 솔루션을 제공한다. 본 연구의 기대효과로는 첫째, 현장 데이터 중심의 효과적인 의사결정 기반을 마련할 수 있다. 둘째, 통합 데이터 기반의 연관/다차원 분석으로 경영 효율성이 향상된다. 마지막으로, 중소 제조기업 환경에 적합한 분석 시스템을 구축함으로써 경쟁력과 생산력을 강화한다.

  • Numerious agencies are trying to install many surveilance systems in their jurisdiction. A mashup,is a page, or application, that uses content from more than one source to create a single new service displayed in a single graphical interface. The main characteristics of a mashup are combination, visualization, and aggregation. It is important to make existing data more useful, for personal and professional use. To be able to permanently access the data of other services, mashups are generally client applications or hosted online. This study is utilizing mash-up technology to provide suitable location scheme for monitoring and surveilance system in order to utilize existing infrastructure and to provide better service to the public.

Interactive emotion-based color image retrieval (대화형 감성기반 칼라영상 검색)

  • Variable contents are extracted and used to improve the correctness of the retrieval in the content-based in age retrieval. This way use the physical feature for the retrieval. In this way of retrieval, the user has to know the basic physical features and spatial relationship of target images that he wants to retrieve. There are some restriction to reflect the user's intend. We need the retrieval system that reflect the user's intend. In this paper, we propose an emotion-based retrieval system. It is different from past emotion based image retrieval in point of view that it uses relevance feedback to estimate the users intend and it is easily combined with past content-based image retrieval system. The features and similarity measures are adopted from MPEG-7 color descriptors which are proper retrieval of large multimedia databases. We use wallpaper images for the experiment. The result shows that the system get successful result.

A Study on New Method for Description of GMD and SMD of KCR4 (KCR4 GMD 및 SMD 기술의 새로운 방안 모색)

  • This study is to find new methods in describing material type as content type and carrier type for the improvement of OPAC retrieval and the embodiment of work and expression of FRBR. It is hard to describe type vocabulary in cataloging because division of content and carrier taxonomy in KCR4 and KORMARC is not distinct. This study is to review the characteristics of material type list in RDA and ISBD(2010), and to examine the various type vocabulary and description methods of videorecording, soundrecording, and cartographic by retrieving KERIS DB. As a result, there is no consistency in applying type vocabulary between KCR4 and KORMARC. Also, libraries use the mix of content and carrier or detailed carrier vocabulary for local use. Therefore, it is need to define the function of GMD as content type, to expand and correct content and carrier vocabulary, and to express both content and carrier type in citation and detailed display. This study will contribute to embody the expression of FRBR.
