  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to examine the association of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in Korean populations with functional polymorphisms of six genes dopamine receptors (Ser311/Cys311 polymorphism, Taq1 A polymorphism, and Taq1 B polymorphism in DRD2, BalI polymorphism in DRD3, and promoter -521 C/T polymorphism and exon III 48 bp repeat polymorphism in DRD4) and one gene in dopamine transporter (DAT1). Methods : Participants were 58 children with ADHD and 110 control children. The genotypes were determined by PCR. Results : There was a statistically significant difference in genotype frequency of -521 C/T polymorphism within the promoter region of the DRD4 between two groups. Furthermore, in the male group, both genotype and allele frequencies showed statistically significant differences. Conclusion : Findings of the study indicate that -521 C/T polymorphism in promoter region of DRD4 appears to be a possible candidate gene for ADHD in Korean population.

  • Study on the HDDr Characteristics of Nd16Fe76-xB8Zrx (x=0-2.0) Alloys and the Magnetic Properties of the HDDR Materials Nd16Fe76-xB8Zrx (where x=0-2.0) have been studied to see the effect of Zr addition on HDDR characteristics. A particular emphasis was place upon the anisotropy of the HDDR material. Anisotropy of the HDDR powder material has been evaluated by comparing the remanence values of the aligned sample measured along the aligning direction and the direction perpendicular to it. The HDDR characteristics of the alloys were investigated by means of DAT and TPA. Magnetic chracterisation of the HDDR processed materials was performed using a VSM and a TMA. The magnetic domain structure of the HDDR materials was examined by means of polarised microscope using a solid HDDR processed material. It has veen found that small addition (0.1 at %) of Zr to Nd-Fe-B-type alloy retards thedisproportionatio kinetics of the hydrogenated material. Desorption characteristic of the disproportionated materials has been found not to be affected significantly by the Zr addition. The Zr addition has been found to facilitate size of the powder. As the particle size decreases, the intrinsic coercivity decreases radically, and this is explained in terms of structural damage and/or oxidation caused during mechanical milling. Antioxidant Compounds Isolated from the Roots of Phlomis umbrosa Turcz.

  • Two triterpenoids, arjunolic acid (1), belleric acid (2), five phenylethanoids, martynoside (3), orobanchoside (4), 3,4-dihydroxyphenethylalcohol-6-O-caffeoyl-${\beta}$-$\text\tiny{D}$-glucoside (5), leucosceptoside B (6), lunariifolioside (7), four phenolic acids, ferulic acid (8), syringic acid (9), vanillic acid (10), 4-hydroxybenzoic acid (11), and one lignan, (+)-syringaresinol-${\beta}$-$\text\tiny{D}$-glucoside (12), were isolated from the roots of P. umbrosa. All isolated compounds were explored for their antioxidant potential in the DPPH and ABTS assays. In DPPH assay, compound 5 showed high antioxidant capacity. Compounds 3, 4, 6, and 7 displayed considerable antioxidant activities. In addition, compounds 5-7 exhibited potential antioxidant capacities in the ABTS assay.

Development and Validation of HPLC-PDA Method and Pattern Recognition Analyses Using Eight Marker Compounds for the Quality Control Between the Seeds of Cuscuta chinensis Lam. and Cuscuta japonica Choisy

  • Cuscuta chinensis Lam. and Cuscuta japonica Choisy are parasitic plants. C. chinensis seeds were traditionally used for treatment of kidney and liver deficiencies. C. japonica seeds were used as tonic medicine to improve liver function and strengthen kidneys, treatment of high blood pressure, chronic diarrhea, and sore eyes. Cuscutae Semen are seeds of only C. chinensis in Korean Herbal Pharmacopoeia (K.H.P.). The developed HPLC-PDA method easily, accurately, and sensitively quantified using eight marker compounds [hyperoside (1), astragalin, (2), quercetin (3), kaempferol (4), chlorogenic acid (5), 3,4-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid (6), 1,5-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid (7), and 4,5-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid (8)]. In addition, the method may be used to distinguish seeds between C. chinensis Lam. and C. japonica Choisy. Furthermore, the result from the current study was applied to clarify samples between steam processed and unprocessed samples of C. chinensis by pattern analysis.

치매노인의 통증사정에 대한 자가보고 도구의 타당도, 신뢰도 및 효율성 검증 (Validity, Reliability and Efficiency of Pain Self-report Scale in Elderly with Dementia)

  • Purpose: The aim on this study was to establish the validity, reliability and efficiency of a Pain Self-Report Scale for elderly with dementia and compare these results with an observational pain rating scale. Methods: Study subjects were 136 elderly with dementia who were residents in a nursing home, geriatric hospital, or day care center. The subject's pain was measured by five self-report scales and observational scale. DS-DAT (discomfort scale-dementia of the Alzheimer's type) was used for pain behavior observational measure. Cognitive state was assessed using the MMSE (Mini-Mental State Examination). Results: Observational rating correlated moderately with self-report (r=.225~.585, p<.05) and tended to underestimate pain intensity. Test-retest reliability was high for all five self-report scales, and the correlation between these scales was very strong (r=.735~.856, p<.05). Comprehension rate of VDS (verbal descriptor scale) was 88.3%, and NRS (numeric rating scale) 69.9%, FPS (face pain scale) 66.9%, HVAS (horizontal visual analog scale) and VVAS (vertical visual analog scale) 65.4%. Conclusion: Nurses should not apply observational scales routinely in demented patients as many of these are capable of reporting their own pain. Self-report, the highest standard of pain measurement can be reliably performed in a large proportion of demented elderly.

안개제거의 깊이 맵 추정을 위한 비선형 모델 (Nonlinear model for estimating depth map of haze removal)

  • 안개가 낀 악조건의 날씨에서는 가시성이 저하되어 카메라로 포착한 정보들을 정확히 인식하기 어렵다. 안개 낀 날씨에서도 사물인식, 차선 인식 등 카메라 기반의 기기들이 정상 동작할 수 있도록 안개제거 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 안개 영상에서 밝기와 채도의 차이가 영상의 깊이에 따라 비선형적으로 증가한다는 분석을 통해 깊이 맵 추정을 위한 비선형 모델을 제시한다. 비선형 모델의 안개 제거 방법은 여러 가지 안개제거 방법과의 정량적 수치평가(MSE, SSIM, TMQI)를 통해 동등 이상의 결과를 보여줌으로써 우수한 성능을 자랑한다.

  • 안개가 낀 악조건의 날씨에서도 자율주행 및 지능형 CCTV가 정상적으로 동작하기 위해 안개 제거 기술이 필수적이다. 안개 제거 기술에서도 특히 대기강도 추정 방법이 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 불필요한 연산량을 줄이고 여러 가지 입력 영상에서도 효과적으로 대기강도를 추정할 수 있는 패치 기반 대기강도 추정 알고리즘과 하드웨어 구조를 제안한다. 알고리즘은 대중적으로 널리 사용되는 쿼드트리 방식과 비교했으며, 하드웨어 설계는 국제 표준 4K 영상에 실시간 대응할 수 있는 구조로써 XILINX사의 xc7z045-ffg900 목표 보드를 사용하여 FPGA 검증을 했다.

Factors Affecting Intention to Purchase Green Products in Vietnam

  • The study aims to assess factors affecting intention to purchase green products in Vietnam. The study employs samples from customers who have actually experienced green consumption in Vietnam. The samples were collected by convenient sampling methods. The survey obtained 206 responses with full information. The survey was conducted from October 2019 to January 2020. The measurement scale was a 5-point scale with 1- completely disagree and 5- strongly agree. This study employs factor analysis and structural equation modelling analysis. The results showed that the social and environment sustainability awareness have positive effects on altruism of customers who are interested in green consumption. Altruism also has the same direction on green purchase intention. Besides, the attitude toward buying green and health consciousness affects green purchase intention. At the same time, the altruism and attitude towards buying green products also influence positively on green purchase intention. Besides, the health consciousness positively affects attitude towards buying green products. The results show that the health consciousness has a negative impact on intention to purchase green products. The findings suggest that it is necessary to raise customers' health consciousness, customers' altruism from disseminating knowledge about environmental protection as well as society to enhance the green consumption in Vietnam.

The Relationship between Brand Authenticity, Brand Equity and Customer Satisfaction

  • This study examines the relationship between brand authenticity, brand equity, and customer satisfaction. A total of 263 participants participated in this study. Participants rated a set of three brands: Apple, Starbuck, and Nike. Each participant rated the extent to which the items described his or her authenticity with the brands listed, the equity of the brands listed, and feelings of satisfaction toward the brands. This study employs confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling. The results indicate that 1) brand authenticity positively relates to brand equity, and 2) brand authenticity effects to customer satisfaction. The findings suggest that marketers can use the brand authenticity for assessment, planning, and tracking purposes to understand the authenticity of their brands for their customers. Products of authenticity brand are better liked, viewed as higher quality, offer greater value and are more likely to be purchased than less authenticity brand. They can command a significant price premium. The findings provide useful support and evidence for brand management, as well as companies in other developing countries, to engage more in brand practices as a core element of their strategic and brand management. This means that managers should work to increase perceptions of authenticity for their offerings.

Impact of Service Quality and Perceived Value on Customer Satisfaction and Behavioral Intentions: Evidence from Convenience Stores in Vietnam

  • This research investigates the relationship among product quality, service quality, perceived value, customer satisfaction, and behavior intentions. Validated measurements were identified from a literature review. The measurement model and the conceptual model depicting hypothesized relationships were evaluated based on responses from 220 customers using confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling. The testing results show that, for the direct path, product quality has a significant, positive influence on customer satisfaction, and behavioral intentions. Also, perceived value directly influences customer satisfaction and behavioral intentions and satisfaction is an antecedent of behavioral intentions. For the indirect path, service quality has a significant, positive influence on behavioral intentions through the customer satisfaction. The major finding of this study suggest that service quality easily attract more customers, especially the young consumers. About the sale personnel, communication skills, knowledge and ways of treatment to customers are crucial to retailers to gain competitive advantage over competitors. Therefore, it should have clear and consistent processes, procedures with criteria that create the best condition for organization and individual to open this kind of retailing store. Furthermore, product quality improvement is essential; all products must have clear originality; and diversifying products and services is also the way to appeal more consumers.
