Soil samples were screened for actinomycete strains capable of producing phospholipase D, and a strain, Streptomyces sp. YU100, showing a high transphosphatidylation activity was isolated. This strain secreted phospholipase D in a culture broth after 12 h of cultivation, and its productivity continued to increase for 36 h of fermentation. In addition, its transphosphatidylation rate of phosphatidylcholine to phosphatidylserine was almost $68\%$ within 1 h. The morphological and chemotaxonomical characteristics showed that this strain could be classified as a number of the Streptomycetaceae family, particularly due to the spiral form of its spore chain consisting of 60-70 smooth spores $(0.75{\times}1.0{\mu}m$) on an aerial mycelium, FA-2c type of fatty acid profile in the cell wall, and LL-DAP component in the cell wall peptidoglycan. A phylogenetic analysis of the 16S rDNA provided a clue that the strain YU100 was actually a member of the genus Streptomyces, because the determined sequence exhibited a higher homology with Streptomyes sp. ASB27, S. peucetius JCM9920, and S. griseus ATCC10137. A dendrogram based on the 16S rDNA sequences also showed a phylogenetic relationship between the strain YU100 and these strains. However, the strain YU100 has not yet been assigned to a particular species, because of absence of any other classified species with a high matching score.

Since the intake air of gas turbine engine of marine purpose contains water particles, inertial separator for separating the air and water particles are provided. Saw type and wave type separator are now used to separate inflow water particle from the gas. In this paper, the design parameters of saw type separator are studied by numerical simulations. Using the commercial CFD program, Star-CCM+, Lagrangian-Eulerian method was used to perform the analysis of two phase flow of the mist in the air. This method solves Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes equations in Eulerian framework for the continuous phase, while solves equation of motion for individual particles in Lagrangian framework. Lagrangian multiphase method was applied to monitor the particles of different sizes and shapes and to verify collision between particles by chasing particles. Water particles were injected through injectors located at the inlet of the separator and escape mode was used which assumes that the particles attached on the surface of inertial separator were removed from the simulation, effectively escaping the solution domain. Through the numerical computations with the inlet condition of constant water particle size in the wetness fraction of 85%, efficiency of eliminating the water particle and the pressure drop between the inlet and outlet were examined.

The stochiometric mix of evaporating materials for the $CuInS_2$ single crystal thin films was prepared from horizontal furnance. Using extrapolation method of X-ray diffraction patterns for the $CuInS_2$ polycrystal, it was found tetragonal structure whose lattice constant $a_0$ and $c_0$ were $5.524\;{\AA}$ and $11.142\;{\AA}$, respectively. To obtain the single crystal thin films, $CuInS_2$ mixed crystal was deposited on throughly etched semi-insulator GaAs(100) substrate by the hot wall epitaxy (HWE) system. The source and substrate temperature were 640 t and 430 t, respectively and the thickness of the single crystal thin films was $2{\mu}m$. Hall effect on this sample was measured by the method of van dot Pauw and studied on carrier density and temperature dependence of mobility. The carrier density and mobility deduced from Hall data are $9.64{\times}10^{22}/m^3,\;2.95{\times}10^{-2}\;m^2/V{\cdot}s$ at 293 K, respectively The optical energy gaps were found to be 1.53 eV at room temperature. From the photocurrent spectrum by illumination of perpendicular light on the c - axis of the thin film, we have found that the values of spin orbit coupling splitting ${\Delta}So$ and the crystal field splitting ${\Delta}Cr$ were 0.0211 eV and 0.0045 eV at 10 K, respectively. From PL peaks measured at 10K, 807.7nm (1.5350ev) mean Ex peak of the free exciton emission, also 810.3nm (1.5301eV) expresses $I_2$ peak of donor-bound exciton emission and 815.6nm (1.5201eV) emerges $I_1$ peak of acceptor-bound exciton emission. In addition, the peak observed at 862.0nm (1.4383eV) was analyzed to be PL peak due to donor-acceptor pair(DAP).
This paper analyzed the topics dealing with three-dimensional figures in most recently revised mathematics textbooks on the basis of the national mathematics curriculum announced in 2007. First, the overall content was analyzed with regard to how textbooks were aligned to the curriculum as well as how the main elements including the definitions of specific solid figures were introduced and developed in different units across grades. Second, the instructional methods of three-dimensional figures were analyzed, which specifically revealed the lack of inquiry phase before introducing cones and pyramids. Third, the instructional methods to foster students' spatial sense with solid figures were analyzed, which showed the increased focus on the prediction and representation of figures. It is expected that the issues and suggestions from this study are informative revising curricular materials and applying them to the classroom.
About 300 actinomycetes were isolated from two forest and one sea-shore soil and tested for inhibitory effects on mycelial growth of six plant pathogenic fungi Magnaporthe grisea, Alternaria mali, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, Phytophthora capsici, Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cucumerinum, and Rhizoctonia solani. Among 300 actinomycetes tested, only 16 actinomycetes showed the antifungal activity against the test fungi. Isolate NH 50 was selected for production and purification of antifungal antibiotic substances. Actinomycete isolate NH 50 displayed the broad antifungal spectra against 11 plant pathogenic fungi. To identify actinomycete isolate NH 50, cultural characteristics on various agar media, diaminopimelic acid type, and morphological characteristics by scanning electron microscopy were examined. As a result, actinomycete isolate NH 50 was classified as a rare actinomycete that had LL-DAP type and did not produce spores. After incubation of isolate NH 50 in yeast extract-malt extract-dextrose broth, antifungal compound NH-B1 that inhibited mycelial growth of some plant pathogenic fungi was purified from the methanol eluates of XAD-16 resins by a series of purification procedures, i.e., silica gel flash chromatography, C18 flash chromatography, Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography, silica gel medium pressure liquid chromatography (MPLC), C18 MPLC, and high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC). UV spectrum and 1HNMR spectrum of antifungal compound NH-B1 dissolved in methanol were examined. The antibiotic NH-B1 showed the major peaks at 230 and 271.2nm. Based on the data of 1H-NMR spectrum, NH-B1 was confirmed to be an extremely complex polymer of sugars called polysaccharides. The antibiotic NH-B1 showed strong antifungal activity against Alternaria solani and Cercospora kikuchi, but weak activity against M. grisea.

Recently, iron aluminides based on Fe3Al and FeAl are ordered intermetallic alloys that offer good oxidation resistance, excellent sulfidation resistance, and potentially lower cost than many high-temperature structural materials. They have better strength, elasticity to weight ratio and high temperature strength, therefore, they can be cosidered as candidate heat resistance structural materials for automobiles, ships, airplanes and spaceships applications. The changes in the mechanical properties and fracture behavior were investigated for Fe-30at.%Al-5at.%Cr alloys when Ti, Hf and Zr were added respectively. For mechanical properties such as Rockwell hardness and yield strength at room temperature, those were decreased in the case of Fe-30at.%Al-5at.%Cr alloy then increased in the case of 5at.% and 10at.% addition of Ti alone. However, Rockwell hardness and yield strength decreased again at 15%Ti then increased dramatically due to the precipitation hardening of the second phase on the specimen at 20%Ti. For fracture modes, cleavage fracture showed in the case of Fe-30at.%Al and Fe-30at.%Al-5at.%Cr alloys. As the amount of Ti addition changed cleavage to transgranular fracture and to quasi-cleavage fracture at 20%Ti. When Hf, Zr and Hf+Zr were added respectively, transgranular, cleavage and quasi-cleavage fracture were coexisted.
The main aim of the present study is to investigate the effects of several processing parameters on the characteristics of Fe-Al alloy preform manufactured by reactive sintering process. The processing parameters include preform composition of 25, 40, 50, 60 and 75at.%Al, compacting pressure of 10, 20 and $30kg/cm^2$, and mean Al particle size of 29, 66 and $187{\mu}m$. Mean Fe particle size was $39{\mu}m$. The density of preform processed under same compacting pressure was not affected by changing Al composition. The preform with Al compositions of 25, 40, 50 and 60at.% Al swelled after reactive sintering process, thus having lower density than the green compacts. The preform with Al compositions of 75at.%Al, however, shrinked after reactive sintering process, thus having higher density than the green compacts. Ignition temperature increased with increasing compacting pressure, and increased with increasing Al composition at the fixed compacting pressure. And adiabatic temperature decreased with increasing compacting pressure at the fixed Al composition, and increased with increasing Al composition at the fixed compacting pressure. The size of compound particles increased with increasing Al composition. Especially, The size of compound particles increased largely in the case of 75at.%Al. It was observed that 50at.%Al preform have three dimentional network structure having a homogeneous and fine decreasing Al particle size.
Some alloying elements such as Cr, B, Ti and Si were added individually or as a mixture to Fe-30 at.%Al alloys. The alloys were melted using an arc furnace and then heat-treated for homogenization at 1000$^{\circ}C$ for 7 days and followed by rolling at 1000$^{\circ}C$. The alloying elements on rolling characteristics were investigated by the microstructures and fracture mode before and after rolling. The microstructures before rolling showed that all of the alloys had equiaxed grains. On the other hand, the microstructures of rolling plane as well as its perpendicular plane became elongated after rolling. The alloys such as Fe-30Al, Fe-30Al-3Ti, Fe-30Al-0.5B, Fe-30Al-5Cr and Fe-30Al-3Ti-0.5B revealed better rolling behaviour from the point that intergranular and cleavage fractures were not fundamentally occurred. But the addition of 5Ti or 3Si to Fe-Al alloys had detrimental effects. The Ti-added alloy system such as Fe-30Al-5Ti, Fe-30Al-5Ti-5Cr, Fe-30Al-3Ti-5Cr and Fe-30Al-5Ti-0.5B were cracked through grain and showed cleavage fracture. The Si-added alloy system such as Fe-30Al-5Si, Fe-27Al-3Si and Fe-27Al-5Cr-3Si were cracked along the grain boundary and showed intergranular fracture. $DO_3{\leftrightarrow}B_2$ transition temperature of Fe-30at.%Al alloy was 520$^{\circ}C$, whereas the addition of 3Ti and 3Ti+0.5B comparably increased the temperature to 797 and 773$^{\circ}C$, respectively.
In the absence of exogeneous nitrogen supply, evaluation of a symbiosis effectiveness of Bradyrhizobium japonicum USDA 110 in a supernodulating soybean mutant, SS2-2, its wild type, Sinpaldalkong 2, and control genotype, Jangyeobkong, was conducted in this study. Nodules in SS2-2 were initially white and similar to its wild type, Sinpaldalkong 2. At the late stage, the wild type nodules became dark pinkish by maturation, by contrast, mature nodules in SS2-2 remained light green to pinkish, indicating a lack of leghemoglobin. Tap root length was short in nodulated symbiotic SS2-2 than that of its wild type and the control genotype. Nodulated root length and nodule density on root length were significantly increased by B. japonicum inoculation, but no significant increase was observed on root length and percentage of nodulation to total root length. Regardless of Bradyrhizobium inoculation, SS2-2 showed higher nodule dry weight and higher acetylene reduction activity (ARA) when compared with its wild type and the control genotype. Inoculation of B. japonicum leaded the increase of ARA in 47 days after planting (DAP), in part because of nodule development. Supernodulating mutant, SS2-2, less responded to B. japonicum induction in terms of nitrogen fixation and nodulation characteristics than its wild type. Thus, interaction of supernodulating soybean mutant with Bradyrhizobium had less symbiotically associated response than normal nodulating soybean.

Twenty analogs of $[Orn^6,D-Ala^9]{\alpha}-factor$ were synthesized and assayed for their biological activities: seven analogs of $[Orn^6,X^9]{\alpha}-factor$, seven analogs of $[X^6,D-Ala^9]{\alpha}-factor$, five analogs of $[X^5,X^6,D-Ala^9]{\alpha}-factor$, and native ${\alpha}-factor$ (X = amino acids). Their biological activities (halo, gene induction, and affinity) were measured using S. cerevisiae Y7925 and LM102 and compared with those of native ${\alpha}-factor$ (100%). G protein-coupled receptor was expressed in strain LM102 containing pESC-LEU-STE2 vector. $[Dap^6,D-Ala^9]{\alpha}-factor$ with weak halo activity (10%) showed the highest receptor affinity (> 230%) and the highest gene induction activity (167%). $[Arg^6,D-Ala^9]{\alpha}-factor$ showed the highest halo activity (2,000%). The number of active binding sites per cell (about 20,000 for strain LM102) was determined using a newly-designed fluorescence-based detector, $[Arg^6,D-Ala^9]{\alpha}-factor-Edan$, with high sensitivity (12,500-fold higher than the absorption-based detector $[Orn^6]{\alpha}-factor-[Cys]_3$).
