Clinical arthritis is typically divided into rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis (OA). Arthritis-induced muscle weakness is a major problem in aged people, leading to a disturbance of balance during the gait cycle and frequent falls. The purposes of the present study were to confirm fiber type-dependent expression of muscle atrophy markers induced by arthritis and to identify the relationship between clinical signs and expression of muscle atrophy markers. Mice were divided into four experimental groups as follows: (1) negative control (normal), (2) positive control (CFA+acetic acid), (3) RA group (CFA+acetic acid+type II collagen), and (4) aging-induced OA group. DBQA/1J mice (8 weeks of age) were injected with collagen (50 ${\mu}g/kg$), and physiological (body weight) and pathological (arthritis score and paw thickness) parameters were measured once per week. The gastrocnemius muscle from animals in each group was removed, and the expression of muscle atrophy markers (MAFbx and MuRF1) and myosin heavy chain isoforms were analyzed by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. No significant change in body weight occurred between control groups and collagen-induced RA mice at week 10. However, bovine type II collagen induced a dramatic increase in clinical score or paw thickness at week 10 (p<0.01). Concomitantly, the expression of the muscle atrophy marker MAFbx was upregulated in the RA and OA groups (p<0.01). A dramatic reduction in myosin heavy chain (MHC)-$I{\beta}$ was seen in the gastrocnemius muscles from RA and OA mice, while only a slight decrease in MHC-IIb was seen. These results suggest that muscle atrophy gene expression occurred in a fiber type-specific manner in both RA- and OA-induced mice. The present study suggests evidence regarding why different therapeutic interventions are required between RA and OA.

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of two lighting programs (continuous lighting (CL) 24L:0D and intermittent lighting (IL) 1L:3D) on the broiler performance, carcass traits, incidence of tibial dyschondroplasia (TD), relative asymmetry (RA), duration of induced tonic immobility (TI), heterophils-lymphocytes ratio (H/L), serum glucose, cholesterol and triglyceride levels. The chicks were randomly divided into 2 treatment groups consisting of 100 chicks per treatment, continuous lighting (CL) 24L:0D or intermittent lighting (IL) 1L:3D. Each treatment consists of 5 replicates of 20 chicks. The experimental period was 6 weeks. Use of IL decreased feed to gain ratio, improved immune response and reduced fearful. Body weight, carcass traits, TD and stress parameters (organ weights, RA, H/L, glucose, cholesterol and triglyceride levels) were not significant in different lighting groups. As a result IL was beneficial for producers and chickens than CL.

In this paper, we propose a new rate-control scheme, called splining, to construct low-rate codes from high-rate codes by splitting rows of the parity-check matrices of LDPC codes, which can construct rate-compatible LDPC codes having good initial transmission performance. Good low-rate codes can be constructed by making the number of distinct check node degrees as small as possible after splitting. The proposed scheme achieves good cycle property, low decoding complexity, and fast convergence speed, especially compared to the puncturing. Especially, rate-compatible repeat accumulate-type LDPC (RA-Type LDPC) code is constructed using splitting, which covers the code rates from 1/3 to 4/5. Through simulation it is shown that this code outperforms other rate-compatible RA-Type LDPC codes for all rates and can be decoded conveniently and efficiently.

Recently interest for air pollution is gradually increasing. However, according to the environmental assessment of air quality, the level of air pollution in the nation is quite serious, and air pollutants measuring facilities are also not enough. In this paper, a secure air pollutants sensor system based low power wireless communication is designed and implemented. The proposed system is composed of three parts: air pollutants measuring sensors module, LoRa-based data transmission module, and monitoring module. In the air pollutants measuring module, the MSP430 board with six big air pollutants measuring sensors are used. The air pollutants sensing data is transmitted to the control server in the monitoring system using LoRa transmission module. The received sensing data is stored in the database of the monitoring system, and visualized in real-time on the map of the sensor locations. The implemented air pollutant sensor system can be used for measuring the level of air quality conveniently in our daily lives.

In this paper, we introduce the D-ratio of a rational map $f:{\mathbb{P}}^n{\dashrightarrow}{\mathbb{P}}^n$, defined over ${\bar{\mathbb{Q}}}$, whose indeterminacy locus is contained in a hyperplane H on ${\mathbb{P}}^n$. The D-ratio r(f; ${\bar{V}}$) characterizes endomorphisms and provides a useful height inequality on ${\mathbb{P}}^n({\bar{\mathbb{Q}}}){\backslash}H$. We also provide a dynamical application: preperiodic points of dynamical systems of small D-ratio are of bounded height.

In this report, we present in-orbit radiometric performance prediction for the Amon-Ra (Albedo Monitor and Radiometer) energy channel instrument. The Integrated Ray Tracing (IRT) computational technique uses the ray sets arriving at the Amon-Ra instrument aperture orbiting around the L1 halo orbit. Using this, the variation of flux arriving at the energy channel detector was obtained when the Amon-Ra instrument including the energy channel design observes the Sun and Earth alternately. The flux detectability was verified at the energy channel detector (LME-500-A, InfraTecTM). The detector time response and RMS signal voltage were then derived from the simulated flux variation results. The computation results demonstrate that the designed energy channel optical system satisfies the in-orbit detectability requirement. The technical details of energy channel instrument design, IRT model construction, radiative transfer simulation and output signal computation results are presented together with future development plan.

LGP (Light Guiding Plate) of LCD-BLU (Liquid Crystal Display - Back Light Unit) is one of the major components that affect the product quality of LCD. The optical patterns of LGP(2.2") molds are fabricated by three different methods, namely, (1) laser ablation, (2) chemical etching and (3) LiGA-reflow, respectively. The characteristics of surface patterns and roughnesses of molds and injection molded parts were compared to evaluate the optical characteristics. The optical patterns of injection molded LGP with mold fabricated by LiGA - reflow method showed the best geometric structure. The surface roughness (Ra) of LGP#s with molds fabricated by (1) laser ablation: $Ra={\sim}31nm$, (2) chemical etching: $Ra={\sim}22nm$, and (3) LiGA-reflow: $Ra={\sim}4nm$.

Combining basal insulin therapy with a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA) has clear clinical advantages, and is supported by the latest EASD/ADA position statement (1). IDegLira is a once-daily combination of the basal insulin, degludec, and the GLP-1RA, liraglutide, in one pen. The DUAL phase 3 clinical trial program provides important evidence about the efficacy and safety of IDegLira in three different populations of patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D): insulin naïve subjects uncontrolled on oral antidiabetic drugs (OADs), subjects uncontrolled on OAD(s) and a GLP-1 RA, and subjects uncontrolled on OAD(s) and basal insulin. Treatment with IDegLira reduced mean HbA1c to below the EASD/ADA treatment target of 7.0% in all five trials. The mean reduction of HbA1c from baseline ranged from 1.3% and 1.9%. IDegLira resulted in weight loss for subjects uncontrolled on basal insulin, was weight neutral for subjects on OADs and weight gain was minimal (2 kg) for subjects previously treated with a GLP-1 RA. Rates of hypoglycaemia were low across all the trials, particularly considering the level of glycaemic control achieved.
