  • We propose a general framework for studying resource allocation problem and the tradeoff between spectral efficiency (SE) and energy efficiency (EE) for downlink traffic in power domain-non-orthogonal multiple access (PD-NOMA) and device to device (D2D) based heterogeneous cloud radio access networks (H-CRANs) under imperfect channel state information (CSI). The aim is jointly optimize radio remote head (RRH) selection, spectrum allocation and power control, which is formulated as a multi-objective optimization (MOO) problem that can be solved with weighted Tchebycheff method. We propose a low-complexity algorithm to solve user association, spectrum allocation and power coordination separately. We first compute the CSI for RRHs. Then we study allocating the cell users (CUs) and D2D groups to different subchannels by constructing a bipartite graph and Hungrarian algorithm. To solve the power control and EE-SE tradeoff problems, we decompose the target function into two subproblems. Then, we utilize successive convex program approach to lower the computational complexity. Moreover, we use Lagrangian method and KKT conditions to find the global optimum with low complexity, and get a fast convergence by subgradient method. Numerical simulation results demonstrate that by using PD-NOMA technique and H-CRAN with D2D communications, the system gets good EE-SE tradeoff performance.

  • CT/MRI images were frequently taken to evaluate the anatomic structure and disease status, and to plan the treatment modality for oral and maxillofacial surgery. However, surgeons have many difficulties in reading and understanding 2D images without long time experiences. This study presents the method of 3D reconstruction with fine CT slices and its clinical application. We applied this method a clinical patient with oral and maxillofacial trauma and produced 3D reconstructed model which shows the fracture line in panfacial area and bone defect.

  • An experiment was conducted to compare the traditional weigh-suckle-weigh method and the $D_2O$ dilution technique to estimate milk consumption of suckling piglets. Milk consumption of 50 individual piglets was estimated on four consecutive days by the $D_2O$ dilution method and for approximately 8 hours on both the second and fourth day by the traditional WSW method. The average milk intake of piglets estimated by the $D_2O$ dilution method was 45.0 g/hr and there were no significant differences between the four measurement period. The traditional weigh-suckle-weigh method provided a significantly lower estimate of milk consumption (36.8 g/hr). However correction for weight losses associated with milk suckling and weighing would increase the weigh-suckle-weigh estimate to a level similar to that determined by the $D_2O$ dilution method.

  • In this paper, an adequate B-H curve extrapolation method is proposed and its reliability is verified through experiments. A method is developed to estimate the magnetic saturation induction from the density of the lamination core and electrical resistivity. The magnetic saturation induction of electrical steels measured using a vibration sample magnetometer are compared with the analytical results to validate the accuracy of the proposed estimation method. It is found that the predicted error in the magnetic saturation induction of the electrical steels are approximately 1.2% when the proposed method is used. The performance of interior permanent magnet synchronous motors that applies the proposed method are evaluated via 2D nonlinear finite element analysis and through experiments. Based on the obtained results, the extrapolated B-H curves from the estimated saturation induction can be used for various analyses in saturation region.

  • This study evaluates how much D/H and enclosed effects are closely related with each other centering around the spaces of cities in Japan. The partial ranks of the degree of angle in D/H and of the enclosure of the real spaces which the experimenter feels are measured through the method of partial rank correlation analysis on the sane objects. The result shows that all 42 samples(0.49), 25 interior space samples(0.63), and 17 exterior samples(0.59) are analysed to be less correlated. Seen above, there is limit to explaining modern spaces with the degree of angle in D/H. The result reveals that the space structure of modem cities consists of a lot more complex elements, so it is not suitable to evaluate the spaces of cities with the past theories of D/H and enclosed effect. Therefore, to evaluate the enclosed effect, a new evaluation model and a study of influential elements of city spaces and enclosed effect should be developed.

  • This paper considers a robust observer-based H/sub ∞/ controller design method for singular systems with parameter uncertainties using an LMI condition. The sufficient condition for the existence of controller and the controller design method are presented by a perfect LMI condition in terms of all variables using singular value decomposition, Schur complement, and change of variables. Therefore, one of the main advantages is that a robust observer-based H/sub ∞/ controller can be established by solving one LMI condition compared with existing results. Numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller design method.

  • The equilibrium geometrical structures of silver atom clusters at their electronic ground states have been theo-retically determined by using the nonrelativistic semiempirical INDO/1 method. The clusters investigated are Agn, Agn+, and Agn- (n = 7 , 8, 9). In order to find the most stable structure, i.e., the global minimum in energy hypersurface, geometry optimization and energy calculation processes have been repeatedly performed for all the possible graphical models by changing the bond parameters (resonance integral values). The heptamers are pentagonal bipyramidal-Ag7(D5h), Ag7+ (D5h), Ag7- (D5h); the octamers are pentagonal bipyramidal with one atom capped-Ag8(D2d), Ag8+ (Cs), Ag8- (D2d); the nonamers are pentagonal bipyramidal with two atoms capped -Ag9(C2v), Ag9+ (C2v), Ag9- (C2v). Our structures are in good agreement with those by ab initio calculations ex-cept for the anionic Ag9- cluster. And it is noted that the INDO/1 method can accurately predict the Ag cluster geometries when a proper set of bond parameters is used.

  • This paper introduced an alternative method called USCP (Unpenetrated Sand Compaction Pile). In USCP, the toe of the sand pile does not reach to the lower supporting layer. Hence it is possible to reduce the amount of sand required. However, the degree of improvement could not be the same as SCP. Effective soil improvement, nevertheless, might be possible by combining both methods. In this paper, an improved method that cross over both SCP and USCP was discussed. And in order to verify applicability to a clay layer, consolidation behaviors with different conditions were analyzed and compared using FEM(Finite Element Method) based on the elasto-viscosity theory. From the results, it is concluded for the characteristic of settlement of USCP that the lower degree of replacement and the smaller ratio of penetration($H_d/H$), the larger is the settlement of the lower part of the clay layer comparing to the layer with no improvement. It is also concluded that the ratios of allotment of stress (m) calculated from the final settlements with 30% of degree of replacement are $1.8{\sim}3.3$ for $H_d/H=lOO%,\;1.8{\sim}4.0\;for\;H_d/H=75%,\;and\;1.8{\sim}3.8\;for\;H_d/H=50%$. Besides, the ratio of allotment of stress decreased as the degree of replacement decreased.

  • We considered the tunneling effect on the rate constants calculated from transition-state theory for the H + $D_2$ and D + $H_2$ reactions. A method for evaluating the important parameter Ec (potential barrier height) was proposed. A tunnel-effect correlation factor (TECF) ${\Gamma}_{t}exp{\theta}_t$ was estimated from experimental data, and compared with the corresponding values obtained from many theoretical methods. According to our results, the tunneling effect cannot be negligible around $800^{\circ}$K where the TECF value is ca. 0.8 whereas the factor approaches to unity at T > $2400^{\circ}$K where the tunneling completely disappears. In addition to the above fact, we also found that the TECF for the D + $H_2$ reaction is greater than that of the H + $D_2$ reaction in agreement with Garrett and Truhlar's result. In contrast to our result, however, Shavitt found that the order is reversed, i.e., TECF for (D + $H_2$) is greater than that for (H + $D_2$). We discussed about the Shavitt's result.

  • Two experiments were conducted to determine the validity of the deuterium oxide ($D_2O$) dilution method to estimate milk intake by pigs. A total of 39 piglets weaned from their dams 24 - 36 hours after birth and trained to drink from artificial nipples, were used for two experiments. Estimates of milk replacer consumption of individual piglets over 1, 3, 5 and 7 days were made by the $D_2O$ dilution method and by dissappearance. Milk intakes estimated by this $D_2O$ dilution method were significantly correlated ($R^2$ = 0.98-0.99) with milk intake measured by disappearance. The average difference between estimates by disappearance and estimates by the $D_2O$ dilution method were -1%, +0.5%, +0.5% and -2.1% for measurement period of 1, 3, 5 and 7 days respectively.
