  • A new genus Goodingius is proposed to incorporate Hemicyclops adhaerens(Williams), H. arenicolae Gooding, H. elongatus Wilson and H. subadhaerens Gooding, all of which bear the six-segmented female urosome, three mandibular elements (or three elements plus one rudimentary setule), five setae on the first antennular segment, and no inner coxal seta of leg 4. The genus Giardella Canu, a sister taxon of Goodingius, is redefined as possessing eight elements on the third exopodal segment of leg 3, only a single inner seta on the second endopodal segment of leg 4, four spines on the third endopodal segment of leg 4. To the genus Giardella, Hemicyclops caissarum Kihara and Rocha and H. carinifer Humes are assigned, in addition to Giardella ricoensis n. sp., Giardella callianassae Canu, and G. thompsoni A. Scott. Keys to the species of both genera are provided.

  • The family Corycaeidae in the neighbouring seas of Korea was taxonomically studied based on the zooplankton samples collected in August, 1986. In this study, nine species belonging to two genera and three subgenera of the Corycaeidae were identified and described with illustrations; Corycaeus (Corycaeus) speciosus, G.(C.) crassiusculus, C. (Ditrichocorycaeus) affinis, C.(D.) andrewsi, C.(D.) erythraeus, C.(Onychocorycaeus) pacificus, c.(O.) catus, C.(O.) agilis, and Farranula gibbula. The distribution patterns of these species showed that C.(D.) affinis appeared to be and indicator species of the coastal waters, and C.(C.) speciosus, C.(C.) crassiusculus, c.(O.) catus, C.(D.) andrewsi, and Farranula gibbula appeared to be indicator species of the warm-oceanic waters.

  • A taxonomic study on the genus Mesocyclops has been accomplished as one of the serial researches on the freshwater cyclopoid cope pods in South Korea. As a result, five species are recognized: M. leuckarti (Claus), M. pehpeiensis Hu, M. dissimilis Defaye and Kawabata, M. woutersi Van de Verde, and M. mariae Guo. Of these, M. dissimilis, M. woutersi, and M. mariae are new to Korean fauna. Morphological details of each species and the intraspecific variabilities are commented. A key to the species of genus Mesocyclops known from Korea is provided.

  • Bonnierilla namhaesius n, sp, is described based on the specimens recovered from the ascidians, Halocynthia roretzi Von Drasche in Namhae Islands, Korea, This is distinguished from congeners by having a combination of characters : setal formula 3, 17+1 hook, 9+1 aesthete, 5, 3, 2, 2+1 aesthete, 7+1 aesthete respectively on eight segments of antennule, II, 5 on distal segment of the second leg to fourth leg exopod, and 2, 3, I on distal margin of caudal ramus. This is the second record of the male, and first record of the copepodid in the genus Bonnierilla.
