3GPP LTE FDD/TDD 듀얼 모드 하향링크 수신기에서 초기 셀 탐색을 위한 CP 검출 기반의 SSS 검출 기법 (A CP Detection Based SSS Detection Method for Initial Cell Search in 3GPP LTE FDD/TDD Dual Mode Downlink Receiver)

  • 본 논문에서는 3GPP LTE (3rd Generation Partnership Project Long Term Evolution) FDD/TDD (Frequency Division Duplex/Time Division Duplex) 듀얼 모드 하향 링크 수신기의 초기 셀 탐색을 위한 CP (Cyclic Prefix) 검출 기반의 SSS (Secondary Synchronization Signal) 검출 기법을 제안한다. 일반적으로 SSS 검출은 CP 타입을 고려하여 두 번의 SSS 검출을 수행하는 블라인드 검출 구조의 coherent 검출 방식이 고려되나, coherent 검출 방식은 PSS (Primary Synchronization Signal)에서의 채널 정보를 이용하기 때문에 고속환경에서 채널 보상 오류로 인해 성능이 열화되며 이러한 채널 보상의 오류는 PSS와 SSS가 세 심볼 떨어져 있는 TDD 모드 프레임 구조에서 더욱 가중된다. 또한 블라인드 SSS 검출 방식은 연산량의 증가로 인해 구현의 복잡도가 증가하는 단점이 존재한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 고속 이동체 환경에서 FDD 모드뿐만 아니라 TDD 모드에서도 안정적인 SSS 검출성능을 보장할 수 있고, SSS 검출 이전에 CP 검출을 수행함으로써 블라인드 검출 구조보다 연산량을 감소시킬 수 있는 CP 타입 선 결정 검출 구조의 non-coherent SSS 검출 기법을 제안한다. 다양한 환경에서 제안된 SSS 검출 기법의 성능 분석을 통해 제안된 방식이 3GPP LTE FDD/TDD 듀얼 모드 하향 링크 수신기에서 안정적인 검출 성능을 보장함을 입증하였다.

Hybrid Synchronization Scheme for Multi-Carrier Communication Systems

  • In this paper, we develop a symbol/frame time and carrier frequency synchronization scheme for multi-carrier signaling in wireless mobile channels. The proposed scheme achieves simultaneous time synchronization and carrier frequency offset estimation. Simulation results show that the frequency offset of multiple sub-carrier spacings can be estimated and that performance is improved with robustness regardless of the cyclic prefix length.

  • In this paper, the performance of OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) and FMT(Filtered Multi-tone) Systems is compared under jamming environment. Two systems are multi-carrier systems to improve data rates. Through the comparison of two systems under jamming environment, the characteristics and strong/weak points of each system are analyzed.

  • In this Paper, it has a proposal of the RFID(RFID : Radio Frequency Identification) system for high-speed recognition between the tag attached a mobile object moving high-speed and the static reader. It used 13.56MHz frequency at ISM band, and designed a reader in order to recognize a mobile object moving high-speed. It will be expected that RFID system enables a smooth railway signal control applying in railway system through the cyclic loop antenna.

  • The knock in a spark ignition engine has been investigated to avoid the damage to the engine and unpleasant feeling caused by the pressure waves propagating across the combustion chamber. Knock intensity and knock onset angle were used as physical parameters to quantify the knock characteristics. The knock intensity is defined as a peak to peak value of the bank pass filtered combustion pressure signal and the knock onset angle is determined as the crank angle at which this signal exceeded the threshold level on each cycle. The cyclic variation of knock in four valve single cylinder engine was investigated with these two parameters. The location of autoignition was also examined by ion probes in the cylinder head gasket and squish region in the combustion chamber. For this measurement, a single cylinder engine was modified to accept the pressure transducer, 18 ion probes in the squish region and 8 ion probes in the specially designed PCB (Printed \ulcornerCircuit Board) cylinder head gasket.

  • Radio data system is a next-generation broadcasting system of digital information communication which multiplexes the digital data into the FM stereo signal in VHF/FM band and provides important and convenient service features. And radio data are composed of groups which are divided into 4 blocks with information word and check word. In this paper, radio data receiver is developed which recovers and process radio data to provide services. Then we confirm that 7dB SNR is required to be 10S0-5TBER of demodulation. Deconding process of shortened-cyclic-decoder has been simulated by computer. Also, the time-compression (by 16 times) method has been adopted for the RDS features post-processing. Via the error probability calculation, simulation and experimentation, the developed receiver system is proved to satisfy the system specification of EBU and implemented by general logic gates and analog circuits.

Joint synchronization and parameter estimation in OFDM signaling

  • Challenges in cognitive radio and tactical communications include recognizing anonymously received signals and estimating parameters in a blind or semi-blind manner. In this paper, we examine this issue for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signaling. There are several parameters in OFDM signaling, and the blind receiver must extract and consider the synchronization issue. We assume that the blind receiver is aware of modulation type, OFDM, and not aware of chip duration and the length of cyclic prefix. First, we present new criteria based on kurtosis to estimate these parameters and compare their performance at different levels of additive white Gaussian noise with methods based on correlation, kurtosis, maximum likelihood, and matched filter. Then, we perform synchronization and estimate the start time based on these criteria and several new criteria in two steps: fine and coarse synchronization. Finally, in a more practical setup, we present the idea of jointly estimating the mentioned parameters and the signal start time as coarse synchronization. We compare different criteria and show that one of the proposed criteria has the highest efficiency.

말초 신경 신호 기록의 효율성 개선을 위한 전도성 폴리머가 적용된 생체삽입형 커프형 신경전극 (Implantable Nerve Cuff Electrode with Conductive Polymer for Improving Recording Signal Quality at Peripheral Nerve)

  • This study demonstrates a polyimide nerve cuff electrode with a conductive polymer for improving recording signal quality at peripheral nerve. The nerve cuff electrodes with platinum (Pt), iridium oxide (IrOx), and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene): p-toluene sulfonate (PEDOT:pTS) were fabricated and investigated their electrical characteristics for improving recorded nerve signal quality. The fabricated nerve cuff electrodes with Pt, IrOx, and PEDOT:pTS were characterized their impedance and CDC by using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry. The impedance of PEDOT:pTS measured at 1 kHz was $257{\Omega}$, which was extremely lower than the value of the nerve cuff electrodes with IrOx ($15897{\Omega}$) and Pt ($952{\Omega}$), respectively. Furthermore, the charge delivery capacity (CDC) of the nerve cuff electrode with PEDOT:pTS was dramatically increased to 62 times than the nerve cuff electrode with IrOx. In ex-vivo test using extracted sciatic nerve of spaque-dawley rat (SD rat), the PEDOT:pTS group exhibited higher signal-to-interference ratio than IrOx group. These results indicated that the nerve cuff electrode with PEDOT:pTS is promising for effective implantable nerve signal recording.

  • 신호 공간 다이버시티 기술은 차세대 모바일 방송의 핵심 전송 기술로 주목받고 있는 기술 중 하나이다. 기존의 DVB-T2에 사용되는 Cyclic Q-delay 방식을 MIMO 시스템에 사용할 경우에는 심볼 간 상호 의존성이 증가하여 수신기 복잡도가 크게 증가하는 반면, 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서 제안된 '성분 맞교환(Component-Swapping)' 기술을 적용할 경우 상호 의존성이 제한되어 수신기 복잡도가 크게 줄어든다. 본 논문에서는 DVB-T2 16K LDPC 부호를 적용한 경우에 제안된 '성분 맞교환' 기술을 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통해서 분석하고, 기존 기술 대비 BER 성능 및 복잡도 면에서 이득을 가짐을 확인하였다.

  • Despite attractive advantages such as good time-frequency localization and improved spectral efficiency, filter bank multicarrier with offset quadrature amplitude modulation (FBMC/OQAM) suffers from multipath fading. In highly frequency-selective channels, the effect of multipath interference can significantly distort the FBMC/OQAM signal due to the absence of cyclic prefix. To resolve the problem of the multipath interference in FBMC/OQAM, this paper proposes applying an antenna array that provides well shaped beam pattern for each multipath. To evaluate the performance of the proposed array system, various computer simulations have been conducted. The accuracy of direction of arrival estimation is demonstrated through spatial spectrum for a different number of antennas in a sub-array. The performance improvement is presented in terms of bit error rate. We found that the proposed array system mitigate the multipath interferences in Extended Typical Urban model with 12 antennas in a sub-array. Moreover, as the number of antennas in a sub-array increases, the system provides a signal-to-noise ratio gain.
