This study was conducted in order to develop a Chinese cabbage harvester attachable to tractors. For designing Chinese cabbage harvester in which laboratory and field tests were conducted with to determine feasible values design factors. To adopt the various sizer of C-cabbages, U-type soft rubber band was attached to the chain conveyor with an angle. Required torque of the conveyor axle was about 206-210kgf$.$cm. And the required peripheral speed of the disk cutter was 6.54m/s or more to have a clean session in root cutting. Three different harvest method were tested. The best harvesting method with minimum pulling force and damage was disk cutting flying just above the soil surface were the cut chinese cabbages are transferring to the holding conveyor attached soft rubber lug in prompt. Theoretical speed ratio of the tractor travel and feed of a chain conveyor was 1:1.2 with the attaching angle of 30 degree and 1:1.1 with the angle of 20 degree. Actual field experiment showed the speed ratio of 1:1.5 was the best because of the slip effect.
Rotary disc ultrafiltration module(RDM) was developed for the separation of oil emulsions. This module was devised to reduce the gel polarization phenomenon by alecoupling the operation pressure and the surface velocity of solution in ultrafiltration(UF) processes. Two-shaft engaged disc type RDM having 20 rotary disc membcanes(UOP, USA) was operated under 85kPa vacuum at $25^{\circ}$C. The pressure drop due to slip flow in the two-shaft RDM was found to be proportional to $(2.5{\omega}r)^{2}$. The pure water flux of two-shaft RDM decreased by 9.95% at the angular velocity of 41.89rad/s compared to the decrease of 3.01% for one-shaft RDM at the same velocity. When the angular velocity was changed from 31.42rad/s to 2.62rad/s, the flux decline for 1% cutting oil in two-shaft RDM was 30.16% that is similar to that of one-shaft RDM. Disc gap of 3mm and 7mm did not show any significant differences in the flux for 1% cutting oil solution. A modified model for two-shaft RDM showed good agreement with the experimental results for the cutting oil solution.

Punching tools like an electrodes are made by milling or etching or EDM. These methods had time consuming, low efficiency and air pollution. So, we have developed a shearing device which counter punching method for burrless cutting of micro wire. Using the straightened SUS304 wire with $200{\mu}m$ diameter, we confirmed the tendency of the shear plane for punch tools. It was impossible to completely remove the bun in the shearing process. In order to minimize the burr size and fine shear plane, we have accomplished the various experiment conditions such as the U-groove, the effect of the counter punch, shear angle and clearance. The results of the experiments show that indentation, slip plane and bent shape were related to the shear angle and clearance.

In this paper, a cause of a shock of an industrial chop saw is identified by experimental method and the shock is reduced by structural modifications. For the shock identification, vibration signals are measured by an accelerometer when the chop saw operates. Through some experiments, it is found that the shock is occurred by a slip between a spindle and a wheelwasher of the chop saw. To reduce the shock, One method is to lower the mass moment of inertia of the wheelwasher and the angular rotating acceleration of it. Another method is to broaden a contact area between the wheelwasher and the spindle. After designing and analyzing the wheelwasher and the spindle mechanically, a prototype of them is built. With the manufactured prototype, the performances and design requirements of them are experimentally verified by the response measurements.

Quaternary faults found around the Ulsan Fault System can be divided into 4 types based on the fault outcrop features : Type I fault cuts basements and Quaternary deposits of which remain on both hangwall and footwall. Type II fault is developed only in Quaternary deposit. Type III fault has inclined unconformity after Quaternary faulting. Type IV fault is common type around the Ulsan fault system and has horizontal unconformity surface after cutting earlier Quaternary deposit. After erosion, later Quaternary deposit overlays on both old deposit and basement. The Ulsan Fault System consists of three segments at large scale from north to south based on the lineament rank and shape, Quaternary fault location, and slip rate. The segment boundaries are identified by the existence of the two intervals which show no lineaments and Quaternary faults. But, if detail fault parameters could be obtained and used in segmentation, it can be divided into more than three segments.

In the southeastern part of the Korean Peninsula, huge fault valleys, including the Yangsan and Ulsan faults, are recognized. These NNE-SSW trending lineaments are called as a whole Yangsan Fault System. However, this fault system is relatively poorly studied except the Yangsan and Ulsan faults. This study deduced the paleostress history based on the mutual cross-cutting relationships between geologic structures developed in the granite body near the Ilgwang fault, which is compared with previous studies. In the study area, four lineaments parallel to the Ilgwang fault are recognized, and three of them show evidences of faulting. In each lineament, both slip-senses of left-lateral and right-lateral are recognized. It indicates that these faults consistently underwent multiple deformations of inversion along the faults. The inferred paleostress directions based on the mutual cross-cutting relationships of the geological structures are as follows: 1) Tensile fractures developed in the late Cretaceous under the ENE-WSW direction of compressive stress, 2) NW-SE trending maximum horizontal principal stress generated conjugate strike-slip faults, and 3) selective reactivations of some structures were derived under the compression by the NE-SW trending principal stress.
Response of the pipeline crossing fault is considered as the large strain problem. Proper estimation of the pipeline response plays important role in mitigation studies. In this study, an advanced continuum modeling including material non-linearity in large strain deformations, hardening/softening soil behavior and soil-pipeline interaction is applied. Through the application of a fully nonlinear analysis based on an explicit finite difference method, the mechanics of the pipeline behavior and its interaction with soil under large strains is presented in more detail. To make the results useful in oil and gas engineering works, a continuous pipeline of two steel grades buried in two clayey soil types with four different crossing angles of 30°, 45°, 70° and 90° with respect to the pipeline axis have been considered. The results are presented as the fault movement corresponding to different damage limit states. It was seen that the maximum affected pipeline length is about 20 meters for the studied conditions. Also, the affected length around the fault cutting plane is asymmetric with about 35% and 65% at the fault moving and stationary block, respectively. Local buckling is the dominant damage state for greater crossing angle of 90° with the fault displacement varying from 0.4 m to 0.55 m. While the tensile strain limit is the main damage state at the crossing angles of 70° and 45°, the cross-sectional flattening limit becomes the main damage state at the smaller 30° crossing angles. Compared to the stiff clayey soil, the fault movement resulting 3% tensile strain limit reach up to 40% in soft clayey soil. Also, it was seen that the effect of the pipeline internal pressure reaches up to about 40% compared to non-pressurized condition for some cases.

A thermal power plant is the first CFBC (Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustion) power plant consisting of 2 boilers-1 turbine. The optimal height of a stack needs to be approximately 156 meters in the case of this thermal power plant; however, the thermal power plant sites satisfy a function and reduce the construction cost by using mountains in the sites after cutting the ground and locating an integrated office and chimney at an altitude of 70 meters thereby lowering the height of the stack to 86 meters. In addition, the integrated office, which has a combined stack style with a unique design, is constructed by connecting with 2 stacks and disposing the office and an observatory in the space between them. Therefore, this study examined the design concept that fulfils the structural, functional, and aesthetic factors, harmoniously by joining the integrated office and the stack, which are disparate, and investigated special construction methods (Slip Form, Steel Inner Flue & Lift-up) through which heterogeneous architectures are structurally, functionally, and aesthetically constructed.

The mechanical limited slip differential (LSD) in vehicles is being replaced by the electromagnetic LSD because of its fast response and better active control characteristics. The coil housing made of STS 304 is one of the most important parts in the solenoid assembly of the electromagnetic LSD. High geometrical accuracy is a prerequisite for the manufacture of such coil housings, but precision machining is difficult because of the use of STS 304 thin plate and the variance in machining variables. The aim of this study is to optimize the mean and variance of the shape accuracy in the coil housing by finding a robust solution for the machining process conditions. The mean and standard deviation of the jaw contact pressure, cutting speed, and feed rate are considered to be the major parameters for minimizing the geometrical mean and variance. The response surface model based on the second-order Taylor series is combined together to minimize the mean and variance of the shape accuracy of the coil housing.
The Pungcheon-myeon, Andong, consists mainly of Precambrian metamorphic rocks, Jurassic igneous rocks, Cretaceous sedimentary rocks (Hasandong, Jinju and Iljik Formations) and Cretaceous igneous rocks (gabbroic rocks, dykes), in which several major faults are developed; Andong fault of ENE trend, which is the boundary fault of the Cretaceous Gyeongsang Basin and the Precambrian-Jurassic basement (Yeongnam Massif), Namhu fault parallel to it, Maebong fault of NNW direction, bow-shaped Gwangdeok fault of ENE direction which is convex toward SSE direction, and Hahoe fault of NNE direction. This paper is researched the geological structures around these major faults by means of the detailed geometric analysis on beddings, joints, faults and drag folds. As a result, a reverse slip faulting of top-to-the SSE movement accompanied with a regional drag folding is recognized from the arrangement of bedding poles measured around the Gwangdeok and Hahoe faults at its northeastern extension, and a zone of Gwangdeok drag fold of 150-300 m width, which is wider at the central and eastern parts of Gwangdeok fault and narrower at its western part and Hahoe fault, is also defined. It indicates that the Hahoe and Gwangdeok faults are a single fault and their movements are coeval unlike the results of earlier reasearchers. And, In this area are recognized two types of faults [(E)NE${\sim}$EW(fault I), WNW${\sim}$NNW (fault II), trending faults] and four types of joints [EW (I), (N)NW (II), NNE (III), NE (IV) trending joints]. These fractures were formed at least through four different events, named as Dn to Dn+3 phases. (1) Dn phase; the formation of joint (I) (Gwangdeok joint) and the intrusion of acidic dykes of EW trend under the compression of EW direction. (2) Dn+1 phase; the formations of joint (II) (Maebong joint), lens-shaped boudinage of acidic dykes, oblique-slip reverse fault (Fault I-Gwangdeok fault) under the compression of (N)NW direction, and the formation of regional zone of Gwangdeok drag fold accompanying the Gwangdeok faulting. (3) Dn+2 phase; those of joint (III), Fault II (Maebong fault) by dextral strike-slip movement of Maebong joint under the compression of NNE direction, and the extension cutting of Dn+1 structures due to the Maebong faulting. (4) Dn+3 phase; the jointing (IV) and the reactivation of Fault II as oblique-slip type with predominant dextral motion which took place under the compression of NE direction. It also suggests that the Maebong fault is not a tear fault deveolped during thrust tectonics of the Andong and Gwangdeok faults but is a post-fault during different tectonic event.
