Purpose - Understanding how service convenience drives shopping performance is imperative for retailers such as department and large discount stores. Retailers have to enhance shopping productivity by reducing the costs of shopping, as convenience triggers customers' perceived shopping value, leading to customer satisfaction, and ultimately patronage behavior. Consumers, generally considering time as a scarce resource, are more sensitive to the time costs of tasks in regard to shopping trip, differently from forming perceptions of convenience in time orientation. Therefore, this study attempts to examine the moderating effects of consumers' time orientation on the relationships among service convenience of retailers and shopping performances such as shopping value and service performances. Research design, data, and methodology - The department and discount store chains were chosen as the point of analysis in this study. Data were collected from a survey of real-life consumers and all respondents were screened to ensure only those who had visited in the department and discount store chains within past six month prior to the day of data collection. Out of 600 self-reported surveys that were distributed, a total of 530 responses were returned and after excluding 20 incomplete responses, the final sample size was 510. The three hypotheses were proposed and tested in this study. The one hypothesis was on the moderating effects of time orientation for the effects of service convenience on shopping value (hedonic and utilitarian shopping value). The other two hypotheses were on the comparisons between high and low time-oriented customers with the effects in shopping value from service performance. Hierarchical moderated regression analysis was used to test the hypotheses. Results - The results suggest that the effect of service convenience on utilitarian shopping value and the positive effect of utilitarian shopping value on customer satisfaction are greater in low time orientation than high time orientation customers. Conversely, when customers are highly oriented toward time, the effects of hedonic shopping value on customer satisfaction and revisit intention are greater than for customers who are lowly oriented toward time. Conclusions - This study has two-fold significance. First, this study contributes to the consumer behavior and services marketing literature by incorporating customers' time orientation into the service convenience-shopping performance. Although the effect of service convenience on shopping performance might differ from customers' perceptions concerning shopping, there has been little investigation or comparison between customers' perception on time. This study is a first attempt to consider how the effects of service convenience on shopping value and service performance vary with differing levels of customers' time orientation. This study advances prior studies by showing that the service convenience-shopping value and service convenience-service performance relationships vary across different combinations of the customer's time orientation. The findings of this study suggest that the retailers need to enhance the experiential aspects of the stores for their high time-oriented customers. Conversely, for the low time-oriented customers, the retailers should boost the visual distinctiveness and ease of store navigation.
This research aims to investigate the structural relationship among service quality, service value, satisfaction, relation quality and re-use intention and to establish the conceptual framework for the relationship between customer and service supplier. This research employs LISREL 8.30 for an empirical approach. With consumers in beauty shops supplying intangible and autonomous-oriented services, it was found that (1) perceived service quality was positively related to service value, satisfaction, relation quality and re-use intention, (2) service value encouraged satisfaction and relation quality, (3) satisfaction and relation quality showed relationship with re-use intention while no relationship between service value and re-use intention was tested, (4) re-use intention presented relatively strong relationship with relation quality geared from interaction between customer and service supplier than with customer satisfaction. Some implications of these results are discussed. Among others, it is noted that the small and customized firms must put their attention on relationship marketing.
The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of LOHAS images of Japanese restaurants on customers' menu selection and satisfaction to provide useful information on proposing detailed marketing directions by deriving the importance and satisfaction factors of LOHAS images and to suggest practical and effective measures for using LOHAS images to improve menus at Japanese restaurants. The results of the study are as follows. First, as a result of examining hypothesis 1, "LOHAS images will influence essential factors," it was found that healthy ingredient, family-oriented, eco-friendly, sustainability, and energy-saving factors were influential. With greater family-oriented, sustainability, healthy ingredient, and eco-friendly factors in LOHAS image, interests in essential factors increased. Second, family-oriented, energy-saving, social-oriented, and sustainability factors in LOHAS image had a significantly positive impact on the environmental factors of menu. Third, eco-friendly, sustainability, family-oriented, energy-saving, healthy preparation, and healthy ingredient factors in LOHAS image had a significantly positive impact on customer satisfaction. Fourth, essential factors in the selection attributes of Japanese restaurant menu had a significantly positive impact on customer satisfaction. Fifth, environmental factors in Japanese restaurants had a significantly positive impact on customer satisfaction. The significance and limitation of this study are: first, Japanese restaurants would be able to build a better image with customers by providing menu items that are family-oriented, sustainable, and energy-saving. Second, it would be necessary to study how LOHAS factors influence customers' general purchase decisions and psychological factors.
The notion of customer orientation is now importantly considered in the context of banking industries. Despite customer-oriented organizational cultures, there are few studies addressing the relationship between customer orientation and its outcomes. In particular, this study aims at testing the effect of customer orientation as a key marketing effort designed by a bank. This is because interest rate sensitivity is critical for evaluating banking services after raising the base rate. In so doing, first, this study investigates the relationships among customer orientation, interest rate sensitivity, and customer loyalty. Second, this paper examines how the moderating effects of both deposit interest and loan interest rates influence the linkages of customer orientation-interest rate sensitivity and customer orientation-customer loyalty. To test the proposed model, research data are collected from 304 subjects who use banking services(e.g., Shin-Han, Kookmin, the First Bank, Hana, and Woori banks). Each construct was measured by published items and the psychometric properties of the three constructs, excluding two constructs of the moderators, were evaluated by employing the method of confirmatory factor analysis via the use of AMOS. The model fit was also evaluated using the CFI, TLI, and RMSEA fit indices that are recommended based on their relative stability and insensitivity to sample size. The findings show that the relationship between customer orientation and customer loyalty is significant, whereas the relationships between customer orientation and interest rate sensitivity and between interest rate sensitivity and customer loyalty are not supported. Although customer orientation is highly evaluated, customers' interest rate sensitivity that results in the comparison of interest rates plays an important role in reducing the effect of customer orientation. As a consequence, interest rate sensitivity does not influence customer loyalty. First of all, one of interesting results in this study is that the moderating effect of loan interest rate is quite different from deposit interest rate. In the case of deposit interest rate, the linkages both customer orientation-interest rate sensitivity and customer orientation-customer loyalty are insignificant. In the case of loan interest rate, however, the two proposed linkages are supported. As our proposed relationships are still in its infancy in the context of banking industry, our study contributes to enhance scholars' knowledge of bank services and provides insights for practitioners when their marketing strategies, particularly both deposit and interest rates, have to be established. Finally, this research also illuminates the need for further research that considers the influence of customer orientation on consumer's decision-making and bank profits. More specifically, the results are encouraging and will lead us to further investigate this key outcome of the banking deposit/interest rates.
In order to maximize customer satisfaction and provide differentiated customer-oriented marketing strategies, it is important to understand the essence of consumer behavior and characteristics of their market segmentation. Therefore, this study explored the relationships among five different food-related lifestyle (i.e., health, fashion, taste, economy and safety oriented), positive emotion, and satisfaction. An analysis of 338 samples drawn from college students who visited coffeehouse at least once in the previous months was performed. The results revealed that, taste, economy, and safety oriented lifestyle significantly affected positive emotion, and positive emotion significantly affected satisfaction. The findings highlight the significant role of coffeehouse customer food-related lifestyle toward positive emotion in the formation of satisfaction, and therefore generate theoretical and practical implications for the coffeehouse industry.

Purpose: Pop-up stores have emerged in the retail industry in recent years, offering consumers a new shopping experience for a limited time and location, and are used for a variety of purposes, including driving purchase behavior. In particular, they have become an important marketing tool among Gen MZ consumers who are quick to acquire information and sensitive to trends. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the impact of pop-up store characteristics on the purchasing behavior of MZ consumers. Research design, data and methodology: Based on a qualitative research approach, the study analyzed successful pop-up stores in Korea to closely examine how the limited operating period and experience-oriented marketing strategy of pop-up stores affect the perceptual attitudes and purchase decision process of Generation MZ. Results: The results of the case study revealed that selling limited edition items, maximizing customer experience factors, and differentiated concepts are the main factors that positively influence the purchase behavior of Gen MZ consumers. These factors contribute to the enhanced purchasing behavior of Gen MZ, making pop-up stores an effective marketing strategy. Conclusions: Pop-up stores are more than just a sales space, but an important communication channel that can strengthen the emotional connection with Gen MZ and effectively communicate brand values. This study provides useful insights for brands and companies to develop marketing strategies for MZ.

Until now, product mostly has revealed physical quantities created by the standpoint of engineers. Consumers, however, perceive and evaluate products on the non-physical characteristics, such as feelings, emotions, and experiences in different social and cultural situations. Especially, for the household appliances fur instance air-conditioner or refrigerator, the sound is heavily related to the satisfaction of a customer who is a real user of the product and is very important factor to decide purchasing as well as visual design. Therefore, in this research, the general tendency of consumer's psychology was investigated for the appliances. And also, in order to obtain clear guidelines for sound manipulation, the characteristics of the sound of air-conditioning systems and refrigerators were compared with others. Since it is important to overcome the discrepancy between engineering and marketing, the relevance of sound manipulation must be documented from the consumer's perspective. That is the reason why we conducted a consumer and marketing oriented study.

The problem of discovering association rules is an emerging research area, whose goal is to extract significant patterns or interesting rules from large databases and several algorithms for mining association rules have been applied to item-oriented sales transaction databases. Data warehouses and OLAP engines are expected to be widely available. OLAP and data mining are complementary; both are important parts of exploiting data. Our study shows that data cube is an efficient structure for mining association rules. OLAP databases are expected to be a major platform for data mining in the future. In this paper, we present an efficient and effective algorithm for mining association rules using data cube. The algorithm can be applicable to enhance the power of competitiveness of business organizations by providing rapid decision support and efficient database marketing through customer segmentation.

This study provides an efficient marketing strategy for the cosmetic market by analyzing the effect of consumer desire on buying motive, brand satisfaction, brand attachment, and brand loyalty. The research conducted a survey using convenience sampling for adult women (from 20 years to 60 years) who purchased cosmetic items within 6 months. A total of 463 samples were used for the final analysis. Data analysis consisted of descriptive statistics, Cronbach's alpha, a confirmatory factor analysis, and a structural equation modeling analysis. Customer cosmetic consumption need had six factors: exhibition need, safety need, need to look younger and to pursue beauty, need to go along with others, eco-friendly need, and pleasure need. The buying motive had four factors: others-oriented motive, motive to keep skin healthy, economic motive, and motive to change products. The causality model showed that customer consumption need influenced buying motive, brand satisfaction, brand attachment, and brand loyalty. There were also significant effects on buying motive for brand satisfaction, brand attachment, and brand loyalty. In addition, there were indirect effects on the relationship between customer consumption need and brand loyalty. The pursuit for pleasure had a significant indirect effect on brand loyalty.
