Nonlinear analysis of stability of rock wedges in the abutments of an arch dam due to seismic loading

  • Investigation of the stability of arch dam abutments is one of the most important aspects in the analysis of this type of dams. To this end, the Bakhtiari dam, a doubly curved arch dam having six wedges at each of its abutments, is selected. The seismic safety of dam abutments is studied through time history analysis using the design-based earthquake (DBE) and maximum credible earthquake (MCE) hazard levels. Londe limit equilibrium method is used to calculate the stability of wedges in abutments. The thrust forces are obtained using ABAQUS, and stability of wedges is calculated using the code written within MATLAB. Effects of foundation flexibility, grout curtain performance, vertical component of earthquake, nonlinear behavior of materials, and geometrical nonlinearity on the safety factor of the abutments are scrutinized. The results show that the grout curtain performance is the main affecting factor on the stability of the abutments, while nonlinear behavior of the materials is the least affecting factor amongst others. Also, it is resulted that increasing number of the contraction joints can improve the seismic stability of dam. A cap is observed on the number of joints, above which the safety factor does not change incredibly.

도로소음원에 대한 방음패널 형상별 반사소음 저감효과 (A Reduction Effect in Noise Reflection by Different Shapes of Soundproofing-panel)

  • 도시화의 가속화와 더불어 도심의 교통량의 증가로 도로소음피해를 최소화하기 위하여 방음벽의 설치 수요가 증가하고 있다. 설치되고 있는 여러 형태의 방음벽 중, 반사형 방음패널의 경우 불투명 방음패널과 달리 시야를 가리지 않으므로 방음시설을 요구하는 거주자들에게 인기를 얻고 있다. 하지만 반사형 방음패널의 경우, 반사음에 의한 2차 피해를 유발시켜 피해를 줄일 수 있는 방음벽 개발의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 반사형 방음패널의 전면형상 및 기하학적 형태를 변화시켜 반사음의 전달을 최소화 시킬 수 있는 형상을 연구하였다. 일반형 반사형 방음패널과 형상별 방음패널의 반사소음 저감 효과를 비교 한 결과, 곡선형 방음패널이 1.5 dB의 소음저감 효과가 있었다. 또한, 반사음의 증가 또는 감소는 형상별 설계인자에 따라 변화하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 방음벽 전면 현상에 따른 반사소음의 저감 기술의 가능성을 보여주는 결과라고 판단된다.

선회주행 시 차체의 비틀림 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Torsional Characteristics of the Car Body Types at Cornering Motion)

  • 탄성변형과 피로손상은 카트의 주행성능에 영향을 미치는 것으로 카트 프레임에 영구변형을 유발할 수 있다. 카트프레임은 현가장치와 다른 장치를 포함하지 않으므로 두 가지 변형에 결정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있는 코너주행 시 동적 거동은 비틀림 변형이 원인이 된다. 선회주행 시 카트의 동적 거동을 분석하기 위해 카트의 GPS추적이 실시간으로 이루어지고 카트 프레임에 작용하는 비틀림 응력값을 측정하였다. 레저카트와 레이싱카트의 재료물성치들은 인장실험을 통해 얻었다. 비틀림 응력집중과 프레임 변형은 얻어진 결과 값을 토대로 프레임의 응력해석을 통하여 파악하였다. 개발된 주행분석장치를 이용하여 레저카트와 레이싱카트를 각 조건별로 실차실험을 수행하였고 이를 통한 코너에서 카트의 주행거동을 살펴보았다. 카트가 곡선주행 시 원심력으로 인해 하중이동이 발생하였으며 카트프레임에 비틀림 응력이 발생하였다. 예를 들어 레저카드의 경우, 40 km/h의 속도로 운전할 때 최대 비틀림 피로한도를 측정한 최대 비틀림응력은 230 MPa이며 비틀림 피로한도계수는 0.65를 나타내었다. 뿐만 아니라 카트의 선회 시 운전요소들을 운전측정시스템을 인스톨한 실측장비에서 측정하였으며 카트의 운전거동은 수직변위에 의해 측정하였다.

주조유동의 정확도 개선을 위한 수치기법 연구 (Numerical Method for Improving the Accuracy of Molten Metal Flow)

  • 주조 유동 해석 분야에서 형상 고정 격자계(body-fitted coordinate; BFC)의 적용은 양질의 해석결과를 얻을 수 있음에도 불구하고 격자 생성의 어려움과 효율성으로 인해 많이 사용되지 않고 있다. 반면에 직교 격자계(Cartesian coordinate)는 상대적으로 격자 생성이 쉽고 빠르기 때문에 주조 공정에서 주로 사용되어 왔으나 이 역시 형상을 제대로 표현하지 못함으로써 발생하는 문제들로 인해 올바른 해석 결과를 얻을 수가 없다. 본 연구에서는 PCT(Partial Cell Treatment)를 기반으로 하는 Cut Cell 방법을 직교 격자계에 적용함으로써 이 격자계의 장점은 유지하면서도 정확한 유동 해석 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. Cut Cell 방법으로 간단한 형상의 테스트와 실제 주조 제품에 대한 적용을 해보았다.

유량지속곡선을 이용한 수문특성별 한강수계 총량관리 단위유역의 오염기여도 추정 (Estimation of Pollution Contribution TMDL Unit Watershed in Han-River according to hydrological characteristic using Flow Duration Curve)

  • After the Total Maximum Daily Loads(TMDLs) was applied, it became beyond the limit of concentration management. However, it does not adequately reflect the characteristics of various watersheds, and causes problems with local governments because of the standard flow set. Thus, in this study, the Han River system is organized into four groups in estimating the Pollution Contribution by applying the Flow Duration Curve(FDC) created by the daily flow of data from the HSPF. And the method of this study is expected to be valuable as basic data for the TMDLs. As a result, Group I contains the main watersheds with no large hydraulic structures and tributary watersheds. There is no specificity in the FDC and the Pollution Contribution is estimated as rainfall runoff. Group II contains watersheds near the city where the FDC is maintained above a certain level during the Low Flow Conditions and the Pollution Contribution is estimated as the discharge flow of large scale point pollution facilities. Group III contains the main watersheds in which the large hydraulic structures are installed and FDC is curved in the Low Flow Conditions. So the Pollution Contribution is estimated as the water quality of the large hydraulic structures. Group IV contains the upstream in mainstream watersheds in which the large hydraulic structures are installed and the FDC is disabled before the Low Flow Conditions. As the flow is concentrated in the High Flow Conditions, the non-point pollution sources are estimated as the Pollution Contribution.

백화점 매장공간의 성별 탐색 특성과 주시경향에 관한 연구 - 백화점 매장 공간을 대상으로 - (Research on Gender Specification and Their Visual Preferences at Department Store Display Space - Target Department Store Space -)

  • Observation about space is looked steady in an instant, but in continuous movement, one's observation unconsciously stays at different points. In department store, customer actually observes around the store for buying, not focusing on certain point. By studying customer's movement and observation feature, buying desire and interest can be found. For analysis of the different searching-features according to the continuous-observation depending on sex, the study is set up to record movements of customers at women in Department store. The following are the findings. First, Men observed 0.2-0.4 units more in I-II section which are assumed as predominant. The result shows that men can focus on more section (around +0.4%) and longer (around +5.7%) than women do. Second, the same feature of observation depending on sex is that both men and women observe left and right section while keep focusing on middle section. Third, according to the fact that right-focused observation magnificently occurred in the image curved to right, the Space-composition has influenced on the observation of both men and women on the space. Forth, excessive number of display can cause avoidance of observation. Moreover, observation does not stay on the coverage due to wall or post, but is attracted to the brand name. As brand name causes right-focused observation in the image [(8)], brand name can be one of the reasons to attract observation in women apparel store. To sum up, this study is noticeable as it researches about continuous-observation. Furthermore, verifying the result that the composition of space and the placement of products can cause big differences in the observation feature is meaningful outcome.

L-형상 압전체 센서 배열을 이용한 충격 및 손상 탐지 기법 개발 (Impact and Damage Detection Method Utilizing L-Shaped Piezoelectric Sensor Array)

  • 항공기 구조물 표면에 발생하는 외부 충격은 크랙과 같은 손상을 발생시킬 수 있으며 이는 차후 큰 결함을 야기하기 때문에 충격과 손상을 탐지하고 위치를 추정하는 것은 구조 안정성 모니터링에 있어 중요한 부분이다. 본 연구에서는 능동, 수동 센싱기법을 조합한 L-형상 압전체 센서 배열을 사용하여 충격과 손상을 탐지할 수 있는 기법을 개발하였다. 수동 센싱기법으로 1개 센서군 당 3개의 센서를 L-형상으로 배치하여 충격 발생 각도를 추정하고 2개의 센서군을 사용하여 충격위치를 탐지하는 방법을 도입하였다. 이 수동 센싱기법을 유도초음파 기반의 능동 센싱기법에 확대 적용하여 동일한 압전소자로 충격 탐지와 더불어 손상을 탐지할 수 있는 방법을 개발하였다. 이 기법은 방향에 따른 파동의 속도 변화와 같은 구조물에 대한 정보 없이도 위치 추정이 가능하여 비등방성 구조 내에서도 정확한 충격 및 손상 위치 정보를 얻을 수 있다. 개발된 기법을 날개 형태 구조물 및 CFRP 판에 적용하여 실험적으로 정확한 충격 및 손상 위치를 추정할 수 있음을 증명하였다.

인공근육형 LIPCA를 이용한 물고기 모방 로봇의 설계, 제작 및 실험 (Mechanical Design Fabrication and Test of a Biomimetic Fish Robot Using LIPCA as an Artificial Muscle)

  • This paper presents mechanical design, fabrication and test of a biomimetic fish robot actuated by a unimorph piezoceramic actuator, LIPCA(Lightweight Piezo-Composite curved Actuator.) We have designed a linkage mechanism that can convert bending motion of the LIPCA into the caudal fin movement. This linkage system consists of a rack-pinion system and four-bar linkage. Four types of artificial caudal fins that resemble caudal fin shapes of ostraciiform subcarangiform, carangiform, and thunniform fish, respectively, are attached to the posterior part of the robotic fish. The swimming test under 300 $V_{pp}$ input with 0.6 Hz to 1.2 Hz frequency was conducted to investigate effect of tail beat frequency and shape of caudal fin on the swimming speed of the robotic fish. At the frequency of 0.9 Hz, the maximum swimming speeds of 1.632 cm/s, 1.776 cm/s, 1.612 cm/s and 1.51 cm/s were reached for fish robots with ostraciiform, subcarangiform carangiform and thunniform caudal fins, respectively. The Strouhal number, which means the ratio between unsteady force and inertia force, or a measure of thrust efficiency, was calculated in order to examine thrust performance of the present biomimetic fish robot. The calculated Strouhal numbers show that the present robotic fish does not fall into the performance range of a fast swimming robot.

인체의 복곡면과 직물 변형 특성을 이용한 의복압 예측법의 개선 (Prediction of the Clothing Pressure Using the Radii of Double Curvature and Transformation of a Fabric)

  • Clothing pressure has close relation with clothing comfort and depends on the pattern and properties of textile fabrics. Choosing a suitable clothing pressure is an essential factor for designing functional clothing such as the foundation for reshaping of a body contour or medical items for bum patient, and etc. However, it is hard to measure pressure values at the curved surface of a human body correctly. Recently, an air pack type pressure sensor, which has relatively excellent performance has been used to measure clothing pressure, however, it is still inconvenient to apply because it is a contact- type sensor. Therefore, in this paper, we suggest an indirect method that can measure clothing pressure without touching the subject by improving the equation of Kirk and Ibrahim (1966). However, confusions have been occurred when someone use the equation since the definition of parameters are somewhat vague. Furthermore, the estimated clothing pressure obtained by the previous method are quite different from the real values because this method does not consider the 3D effect of a human body and property changes of a transformed fabric. In this paper, the direction of principal stress and the radius of curvature in the principal direction were searched in the 3D image of the deformed girdle to get more accurate clothing pressure. The estimated clothing pressure was verified by comparing the result of the air pack type pressure sensor. It was found that the accuracy of the pressure estimation was improved by considering the 3D curvature of human body and the directional characteristics of textile fabrics.

Aminolysis of 2,4-Dinitrophenyl 2-Furoate and 2-Thiophenecarboxylate: Effect of Modification of Nonleaving Group from Furoyl to Thiophenecarbonyl on Reactivity and Mechanism

  • Second-order rate constants have been determined spectrophotometrically for reactions of 2,4-dinitrophenyl 2- thiophenecarboxylate (2) with a series of alicyclic secondary amines in 80 mol % $H_2O$/20 mol % DMSO at 25.0 ${\pm}$ 0.1 ${^{\circ}C}$. The Brønsted-type plot exhibits a downward curvature, i.e., the slope decreases from 0.74 to 0.34 as the amine basicity increases. The $pK_a$ at the center of the Brønsted curvature, defined as $pK_a^o$, has been determined to be 9.1. Comparison of the Brønsted-type plot for the reactions of 2 with that for the corresponding reactions of 2,4-dinitrophenyl 2-furoate (1) suggests that reactions of 1 and 2 proceed through a common mechanism, although 2 is less reactive than 1. The curved Brønsted-type plot has been interpreted as a change in RDS of a stepwise mechanism. The replacement of the O atom in the furoyl ring by an S atom (1 $\rightarrow$ 2) does not alter the reaction mechanism but causes a decrease in reactivity. Dissection of the apparent second-order rate constants into the microscopic rate constants has revealed that the $k_2/k_{-1}$ ratio is not influenced upon changing the nonleaving group from furoyl to thiophenecarbonyl. However, $k_1$ has been calculated to be smaller for the reactions of 2 than for the corresponding reactions of 1, indicating that the C=O bond in the thiophenecarboxylate 2 is less electrophilic than that in the furoate 1. The smaller k1 for the reactions of 2 is fully responsible for the fact that 2 is less reactive than 1.
