Effects of Cu Wire's Shape on the Plating Property of Sn-Pb Solder for Photovoltaic Ribbons

  • We studied the plating properties of Sn-Pb solder according to the shape of the Cu wire's cross-section for photovoltaic ribbon. The thickness of the Sn-Pb layer largely decreased to 29% on a curved Cu surface, compared to a flat Cu surface. This phenomenon is caused by the geometrical decrease in the contact angle of the liquid Sn-Pb solder and an increase in the surface energy of the solid/vapor on the curved Cu surface. We suggest a new ribbon's design where the Cu wire's cross-section is a semi-ellipse. These semi-ellipse ribbons can decrease the use of Sn-Pb solder to 64% and increase the photovoltaic efficiency, by reducing the contact area between the ribbon and cell, to 84%. We also see an improvement of reflectivity in the curved surface.

Practical Surface Sculpting Method for the Fabrication of Predefined Curved Structures using Focused Ion Beam

  • Surface erosion using focused ion beam irradiation is the most promising technology for the realization of micro/nanofabrication. However, accurate fabrication of predefined structures is still challenging. This article introduces a single step surface driving method to fabricated predefined curved structures. The previously reported multi step surface driving method (MSDM) has been modified so that a single ion dose profile can be used instead of multiple ion dose profiles. Experimental realization of the method is presented with the fabrication of predefined curved surfaces as well as reference to surface propagation theory. For the purpose of verification, simulations are performed on the basis of a sound mathematical model.

곡판 가공의 인라인 완성도 평가에 관한 연구(I) (A Study on the In-line Assessment of Completion for Fabrication of Curved Plates(I))

  • In the line heating for the plate forming of a ship's hull, an in line assessment of completion is necessary for an automated production system. In the current curved plate forming process, a fabricated plate is compared to a template that is made in the mold loft and is used for the determination of the heating line for the next step. In this paper, a new method is presented for the in line assessment of completion for curved plate forming. This method uses a 3-D scanner. For the registration of the scanned data for a surface and the target surface, the ICP (Iterative Closest Points) method was adopted. A computer program was developed to carry out the registration, check for similarities, visualize the surface, and control the results. This program was applied to a sample curved plate forming process.

곡면을 포함하는 형상의 영상을 이용한 모델링 (Image-Based Approach for Modeling 3D Shapes with Curved Surfaces)

  • 본 논문에서는 NURBS(Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines)로 표현된 3차원 곡면을 복원하기 위한 영상 기반 곡면 모델링 기법을 제안한다. 카메라 보정이 수행된 복수의 영상으로부터 사용자가 대응곡선을 지정하면 카메라의 정보를 이용하여 대응 곡선의 3차원 복원을 수행한다. 사용자 인터페이스에 의해 각 영상에서 곡선을 지정하기 위하여 본 논문에서는 NURBS 곡선을 이용하였으며 bilinear surface, ruled surface, generalized cylinder, surface of revolution등의 기본 곡면뿐 아니라 skinned surface, swept surface, boundary patch등의 고급 곡면 생성을 지원하여 다양한 모양의 곡면 물체를 모델링 할 수 있다. 또한 영상을 기반으로 view-dependent 텍스처 생성방법을 지원하여 좀더 사실적인 곡면의 복원을 수행한다. 생성된 3차원 곡선 또는 곡면은 VRML과 같은 표준 형식으로 출력하여 재사용할 수 있다.

평지붕 설치 태양광시스템의 표면형태 조사·분석 (Investigation and Analysis on the Surface Morphology of Roof-Top Photovoltaic System)

  • Domestic photovoltaic system for roof-top is installed towards the south at an angle of 20 to 35 degrees and the shape of PV array is divided into two kinds; a plane shape and a curved shape. This paper aims to understand an actual condition of PV facility and strengths and weaknesses of support structure production and installation and to consider the best PV surface shape by analyzing theoretical logics of these two surface shapes and architectural perspective-based realistic case studies. This study targeted 98 facilities including common houses, public institutions and education institutions. In common houses, all of 59 PV facilities have a plane surface. In public institutions, 7 of 15 PV facilities have a curved array surface and 8 PV facilities have a plane surface. In education institutions, also, 14 of 24 PV facilities have a plane array surface and 10 PV facilities have a curved surface. Most of 98 facilities have a flat roof supporting shape. However, it was found that the curved shape wasn't positive for PV generation due to the change of radial density and it was at least 10 % more expensive to produce its structure. Also, domestic general large single-plate PV facilities have problems of harmony with buildings and wind load. Therefore, it is considered that for fixed-type roof-top PV, a plane PV array shape is good for optimum generation and economic efficiency and a parallel array structure on the roof surface is favorable to wind load and snow load without being a hindrance to the building facade.

3차원 성형곡면 구현을 위한 가변금형의 펀치 및 제어시스템 설계 (Design of Flexible Die Punch and Control System for Three-dimensional Curved Forming Surface)

  • A flexible die, which is composed of a number of punches with adjusted heights to form a three-dimensional curved surface, is a crucial part of a flexible forming technology. In this study, the punch and control system of the flexible die were designed. The flexible die is divided into three modules, namely, punch, control and joint, and the corresponding modules were developed. The punch module materializes a three-dimensional forming surface by the control module, which is composed of an AC servo motor set and a linear guide. The joint module is necessary for the sequential motion between the servo motor set and the punch module. A sequential motion algorithm for the AC servo motor set, that uses the data of the punch relative heights, was also proposed. Finally, a flexible stretch forming test was carried out using the presently designed flexible die.

도전성 탄성공구를 이용한 금형연마 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Characteristics of Die Finishing Using Conductive Elastic Tool)

  • The finishing process for dies and molds is an important process because it has influence on final quality of products. And it is difficult to automatize finishing process so that the process has depended on expert's skill until now. However, recently a study on development of die automatic finishing machine has been progressed, and actually this machine is applied to fabrication of die. But the research about tooling system is not enough and finishing tool must have high machining efficiency and adaptability of curved surface. So, this study investigated the application of conductive elastic tool which is composed of metal-resin bonded pellet and elastic backing material. The metal-resin bonded pellet is used to finish the surface by conventional mechanical grinding or electro-chemial grinding method. And elastic backing material is used to follow the curved surface. So conductive elastic tool has long lifetime, uniform removal rate and adaptability of curved surface.

머시닝센터 장착형 곡면금형 연마용 로봇 시스템 개발에 관한 연구 (A study on the development of polishing robot system attached to machining center for curved surface die)

  • Polishing work for a curved surface die demands simple and repetitive operations and requires much time while it also demands high precision. Therefore it is operated by skilled worker in handiwork. But workers avoid polishing work gradually because of the poor environments such as dust and noise. In order to reduce the polishing time and to alleviate the problem of shortage of skilled workers, researches for automation of polishing have been pursued in the developed countries such as Japan. In this research we develop a polishing robot with 2 degrees of freedom motion and pneumatic system, and attach it to machining center with 3 degrees of freedom to form an automatic polishing system which keeps the polishing tool vertically on the surface of die and maintains constant pneumatic pressure. The developed polishing robot is controlled by real time sliding mode control using DSP(digital signal processor). A synchronization between machining center and polishing robot is accomplished by using M code of machining center. A performance experiment for polishing work is executed by the developed polishing robot.

Therefore it is operated by skilled worker in handiwork. Howener workers avoid polishing work gradually because of the poor environments such as dust and noise. In order to reduce the polishing time and to alleviate the problem of shortage of skilled workers, researches for automation of polishing have been pursued in the developed countries. On snap-buckling of FG-CNTR curved nanobeams considering surface effects

  • The aim of this paper is to analyze the nonlinear bending of functionally graded (FG) curved nanobeams reinforced by carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in thermal environment. Chen-Yao's surface elastic theory and geometric nonlinearity are also considered. The nanobeams are subjected to uniform loadings and placed on three-parameter substrates. The Euler-Lagrange equations are employed to deduce the equations of equilibrium. Then, the asymptotic solutions and boundary value problems are analytically determined by utilizing the two-step perturbation technique. Finally, the effects of the surface parameters, geometric factors, foundation stiffness, volume fraction, thermal effects and layout type of CNTs on the nonlinear bending of the nanobeams are discussed.
