ASL estimation of public building is based on how appropriate the maximum age of the asset is derived based on the age record of the asset in the statistical data owned by public institutions. This is because we get a 'constrained' ASL by that number. And it is especially true because other studies have assumed that the building is an Iowa curve R3. Also, in this study, the survival rate is 1% as the threshold value at which the survival curve and the predictable life curve almost coincide. Rather than a theoretical basis, in the national statistical survey, the value of residual assets was recognized from the net value of 10% of the acquisition value when the average service life has elapsed, and 1% when doubling the average service life has elapsed. It is based on the setting mentioned above. The biggest constraint in fitting statistical data to the Iowa curve is that the maximum ASL is selected at R3 150%, and the 'constrained' ASL is calculated by the proportional expression on the assumption that the Iowa curve is followed. In like manner constraints were considered. First, the R3 disposal curve for the RCC(reinforced cement concrete) building was prepared according to the discarding method in the 2000 work, and it was jointly worked on with the National Statistical Office to secure the maximum amount of vintage data, but the lacking of sample size must be acknowledged. Even after that, the National Statistical Office and the Bank of Korea have been working on estimating the Iowa curve for each asset class in the I-O table. Another limitation is that the asset classification uses the broad classification of buildings as a subcategory. Second, if there were such assets with a lifespan of 115 years that were acquired in 1905 and disposed of in 2020, these discarded data would be omitted from this ASL calculation. Third, it is difficult to estimate the correct Iowa curve based on the stub-curve even if there is disposal data because Korea has a relatively shorter construction history, accumulated economic wealth since the 1980's. In other words, "constrained" ASL is an under-estimation of its ASL. Considering the fact that Korea was an economically developing country in the past and during rapid economic development, environmental factors such as asset accumulation and economic ability should be considered. Korea has a short period of accumulation of economic wealth, and the history of 'proper' architectures faithful to building regulations and principles is short and as a result, buildings 'not built properly' and 'proper' architectures are mixed. In this study, ASL of RCC public building was estimated at 70 years.
We propose an effective methodology using electromechanical impedance characteristics for estimating the remaining tensile force of tendons and simultaneously detecting damages of the anchorage blocks. Once one piezoelectric patch is attached on the anchor head and the other is bonded on the bearing plate, impedance responses are measured through these two patches under varying tensile force conditions. Then statistical indices are calculated from the impedances, and two types of relationship curves between the tensile force and the statistical index (TE Curve) and between statistical indices of two patches (SR Curve) are established. Those are considered as database for monitoring both the tendon and the anchorage system. If damage exists on the bearing plate, the statistical index of patch on the bearing plate would be out of bounds of the SR curve and damage can be detected. A change in the statistical index by damage is calibrated with the SR curve, and the tensile force can be estimated with the corrected index and the TE Curve. For validation of the developed methodology, experimental studies are performed on the scaled model of an anchorage system that is simplified only with 3 solid wedges, a 3-hole anchor head, and a bearing plate. Then, the methodology is applied to a real scale anchorage system that has 19 strands, wedges, an anchor head, a bearing plate, and a steel duct. It is observed that the proposed scheme gives quite accurate estimation of the remaining tensile forces. Therefore, this methodology has great potential for practical use to evaluate the remaining tensile forces and damage status in the post-tensioned structural members.
An effective estimation method of equivalent circuit parameters of three-phase induction motor by using FEM is presented in this paper. Arbitrary three torque-speed points at asynchronous speed on the torque-speed curve are required by using time-stepping FEM, then the equivalent circuit parameters of IM can be calculated rapidly with presented method. After obtaining the equivalent circuit parameters, the general analysis method based on equivalent circuit can be used to get entire torque-speed curve very quickly. Although the purely numerical method such as FEM also can estimate torque-speed curve directly and accurately, however, usually this process is time consuming.

In dual phase steel composed of martensite and ferrite which are different in deformation behavior, the quantitative estimation of fracture toughness is investigated by the R-curve method and the stretched zone method of JSME Sool. In the homogeneous material J$_{IC}$ value measured by the R-curve method and the stretched zone method are almost equivalent each other, but in the inhomogeneous material J$_{IC}$ value by the stretched zone method is overestimated than that by the R-curve method. Such a overestimation for the J$_{IC}$ is due to the continuous plastic blunting of ferrite after the stretched zone width in martensite reached critical value which overmeasures the critical stretched zone width.width.
This paper presents a practical method for estimation of average temperature in the permanent magnet (PM) of electric machine by using finite element analysis (FEA) and dynamo load experiment. First of all, the temperature effect of PM to the torque has been employed by FEA in order to evaluate the Temperature-Torque characteristic curve. The 1st order polynomial equation which is torque attenuation coefficient is derived by the FEA result of the Temperature-Torque curve. Next, torque saturation test with constant current condition is performed by dynamo load experiment. Then, the temperature trend can be estimated by adding the initial starting temperature using the torque attenuation coefficient and torque saturation curve. Lastly, estimated temperature is validated by infrared thermometer which measures temperature of PM surface. The comparison between the estimated result and experimental result gives a good agreement within a deviation of maximum $8^{\circ}C$.

In order to obtain the optimal estimation method of fracture toughness of dual phase steel in which martensitic phase encapsulated islands of ferritic phase, the stretched zone (SZ) method and the R-curve method of the JSME S 001 was discussed. The results obtained are as follows. (1) The $J_{IC}$ values estimated by the SZ method are overestimated as compared with those by the R-curve method. (2) The $J_{IC}$ by the R-curve method decreases with the increase of the ferrite grain size and the martensite hardness. (3) The overestimation of $J_{IC}$ by the SZ method is due to the continuous plastic blunting of ferrite after the formation of stable crack which affects the critical stretched zone width.
This paper presents an efficient algorithm to estimate the maximum load level for heavily loaded power systems with the load-generation variation vector obtained by ELD (Economic Load Dispatch) and/or short term load forecasting while utilizing the elliptic pattern of the P-e curve. It is well known the power flow equation in the rectangular coordinate is fully quadratic. However, the coupling between e and f makes it difficult to take advantage of this quadratic characteristic. In this paper, a simple technique is proposed to reflect the e-f coupling effects on the estimation of maximum loadability with theoretical analysis. An efficient estimation algorithm has been developed with the use of the elliptic properties of the P-e curve. The proposed algorithm is tested on IEEE 14 bus system, New England 39 bus system and IEEE 118 bus system, which shows that the maximum load level can be efficiently estimated with remarkable improvement in accuracy.
$CO_2$ uptake of vegetation is one of the important variables in order to estimate photosynthetic activity, plant growth and carbon budget estimations. The objective of this research was to develop a new estimation method of $CO_2$ uptake of vegetation based on airborne hyperspectral remote sensing measurements in combination with a photosynthetic rate curve model. In this study, a compact airborne spectrographic imager (CASI) was used to obtain image over a field that had been set up to study the $CO_2$ uptake of corn on August 7, 2002. Also, a field survey was conducted concurrently with the CASI overpass. As a field survey, chlorophyll a content, photosynthetic rate curve, Leaf area, dry biomass and light condition were measured. The developed estimation method for $CO_2$ uptake consists of three major parts: a linear mixture model, an enhanced big leaf model and a photosynthetic rate curve model. The Accuracy of this scheme indicates that $CO_2$ uptake of vegetation could be estimated by using airborne hyperspectral remote sensing data in combination with a physiological model.
The estimates of both runoff depth and peak runoff by the basin runoff curve numbers, which are CN-II for antecedent moisture condition- II and CN -III for antecedent moisture condition-III, obtained from hydrological soil-cover complexes of 26 watersheds are investigated by making use of the observed curve numbers, which are median curve number and optimum curve number, computed from 250 rainfall-runoff records. For gaged basins the median curve numbers are recommended for the estimation of both runoff depth and peak runoff. For ungaged basin, found is that for the estimate of runoff depth CN-II is adequate and for peak runoff CN-II is suitable. Also investigated is the variation of the runoff curves during storms. By the variable runoff curve numbers, the prediction of runoff depth and peak runoff can be improved slightly.

Based on the curve segment grouping, an efficient recognition of round objects form partially occuluded round boundaries is proposed. Curve segments are extracted from an image using a criterion based on the intra-segment curvature and local contrast. During the curve segment extraction the boundaries of pratially occluding and occuluded objects are segmented to different curve segments. The extracted segments of constant intra-segment curvature are grouped to different curve segments. The extracted segments of constant intra-segment curvature are grouped nto a round boundary by the proposed grouping algorithm using inter-segment curvature which gives the relatinships among the curve segments of the same round boundary. The 1st and the 2nd order moments are used for the parameter estimation of the best fitted ellipse with round boundary, and then recognition is perfomed based on the estimated parameters. The proposed scheme processes in segment unit and is more efficient in computational complexity and memory requirements those that of the conventional scheme which processed in pixel units. Experimental results show that the proposed technique is very efficient in recognizing the round object sfrom the real images with apples and pumpkins.
