  • This paper proposes a watermarking scheme for 3D CAD design drawing. In the proposed scheme, we embed binary watermarks into line, arc, and polygon face components that are the basic component of 3D CAD design drawing. The embedding target component can be selected randomly among three components or by the component distribution in drawing. In line components, a watermark bit is embedded into the ratio of the length of a target line and an average length of lines that are connected into a target line. Furthermore, a watermark bit is embedded into a curvature radius on the basis of a center point in a arc component and also is embedded into a ratio of two sides in a polygonal face component. Experimental results verified that the proposed watermarking has the robustness against Format conversion, rotation translation, scaling, cropping, and layer cutting and also SNR of watermarked component is about 39.89-42.50 dB.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and necessity of combined anterior approach [discectomy and fusion] and posterior approach[open-door laminoplasty] in the treatment of cervical spondylotic myelopathy. Methods : The authors reviewed 14 cases in whom combined anterior and posterior approach performed for cervical myelopathy due to simultaneous anterior and posterior pathology such as huge central disc herniation with narrow spinal canal between January 2000 and December 2002. Clinical symptoms were evaluated by Japanese Orthopaedic Association [JOA] score and then the cervical curvature, change of spinal canal to vertebral body[SC/VB] ratio and canal widening were measured and compared to the clinical symptoms. Results : The mean JOA score increased from $10.4{\pm}3.1$ preoperatively to $14.8{\pm}1.2$ at the final follow up with a mean recovery rate 66.4%. In all cases, there were not neurologic deterioration. Mild postoperative complications developed in two cases. One patient had a limitation of range of neck motion and the other one showed kyphotic change. Postoperative radiography showed an improvement of body to canal ratios [average $0.70{\pm}0.08$ before surgery to $1.05{\pm}0.12$ after surgery and mainte nance or recovery of cervical lordosis. Canal widening of antero-posterior diameter and dimension after operation is 6.8mm. $116.61mm^2$. Conclusion : Combined anterior and posterior procedure could be helpful in decompression of the spinal cord and good functional recovery in spondylotic myelopathy patients with combined anterior and posterior pathology such as huge disc herniation accompanying narrow spinal canal.

  • Biomechanical preparation of root canals with accentuated curvature is challenging. New rotatory systems, such as Reciproc, require a shorter period of time to prepare curved canals, and became a viable alternative for endodontic treatment of teeth with root dilaceration. Thus, this study aimed to report a clinical case of endodontic therapy of root with accentuated dilaceration using Reciproc single-file system. Mandibular right second molar was diagnosed as asymptomatic irreversible pulpitis. Pulp chamber access was performed, and glide path was created with #10 K-file (Dentsply Maillefer) and PathFile #13, #16 and #19 (Dentsply Maillefer) up to the temporary working length. The working length measured corresponded to 20 mm in the mesio-buccal and mesio-lingual canals, and 22 mm in the distal canal. The R25 file (VDW GmbH) was used in all the canals for instrumentation and final preparation, followed by filling with Reciproc gutta-percha cones (VDW GmbH) and AH Plus sealer (Dentsply Maillefer), using thermal compaction technique. The case has been receiving follow-up for 6 mon and no painful symptomatology or periapical lesions have been found. Despite the difficulties, the treatment could be performed in a shorter period of time than the conventional methods.

  • Objective : We performed a retrospective analysis of medical records and radiographic images of patients who never underwent spinal treatment including diagnosis. The objective of this study is to explain the biomechanical and physiologic characteristics of cervical alignment related to thoracic inlet angle including T1 slope changes in each individual. Methods : We reviewed the cervical CT radiographs of 80 patients who visited ENT outpatient clinic without any symptom, diagnosis and treatment of cervical spine from January 2011 to September 2012. All targeted people were randomized without any prejudice. We assessed the data-T1 slope, Cobb's angle C2-7, neck tilt, sagittal vertical axis (SVA) C2-7 and thoracic inlet angle by the CT radiographs. Results : The relationships between each value were analyzed and we concluded that Cobb's angle C2-7 gets higher as the T1 slope gets higher, while the SVA C2-7 value decreases. Conclusion : We propose that the T1 slope is background information in deciding how much angle can be made in the cervical spinal angle of surgical lordotic curvature, especially severe cervical deformity.

  • Micellization range and cmc for the dilute aqueous solution of sucrose monoesters, that is, sucrose monolaurate, sucrose monomyristate, sucrose monopalmitate, sucrose monostearate and sucrose monooleate were investigated by computer programming. The extreme of the curvature of ${\sigma}$(C) as a new suggested method to determine the cmc and the micellization range was accomplished with computer programming. The values of cmc and micellization range can be obtained by the extreme of the curve by direct processing of only a few experimental data. The values of cmc particulary was in good agreement with those deduced intuitively from the shape of experimental curves of ${\sigma}$(C).

  • This research is a part of a research program to develope a new design method for reinforced concrete bridge columns under axial load and cyclic lateral load. A nonlinear analytical method is proposed to obtain moment-curvature relationship and lateral load-displacement relationship. Various analytical models that contribute seismic behavior of reinforced concrete bridge columns are adopted and modified by comparing quasi-static test results of reinforced concrete columns with spirals of circular hoops. The analysis adopts confined concrete model, longitudinal reinforcement test result of reinforced concrete columns with spirals or circular hoops. The analysis adopts confined concrete model, etc. The results obtained using the propose analytical method agree well with test results and give conservative estimations particularly for deformation capacity and ductility.

  • This study aims to suggest new algorithm, named as Simoo, in order to improve spatial conflicts and vector displacement between linear features in generalization of the linear features. Main principles of Simoo algorithm is adoption of simplification and smoothening methods. Tolerance conditions used in Simoo are perpendicular length, external angle, and average vertex length. Main characteristics of Simoo are the application of scale, cartographic refinement, minimization of logical errors, and maintenance of geographical properties. The Simoo was applied through comparison to existing Douglas-Peucker algorithm. Resultantly, maintenance ratios of line such as coastal line and stream network were over 97% in both algorithms. The elimination ratio of vertex points may be more effective in Douglas-Peucker than in Simoo. Spatial conflicts between linear features may be more minimized in Simoo. The curvature and smoothening of lines become decreased in scale in application of Simoo. Finally, Simoo algorithm may be more effective than Douglas-Peucker for cartographic generalization.

  • This paper presents a method for automatic 3-d building reconstruction using high resolution aerial imagery. First, by using edge preserving filtering, noise is eliminated and then images are segmented by watershed algorithm, which preserves location of edge pixels. To extract line segments between control points from boundary of each region, we calculate curvature of each pixel on the boundary and then find the control points. Line segment linking is performed according to direction and length of line segments and the location of line segments is adjusted using gradient magnitudes of all pixels of the line segment. Coplanar grouping and pplygonal patch formation are performed per region by selecting 3-d line segments that are matched using epipolar geometry and flight information. The algorithm has been applied to high resolution aerial images and the results show accurate 3D building reconstruction.

  • This paper explores an implementation of finite element analysis and experiment in the design process of a tape spring hinge used for various CubeSat missions. Tape spring hinges consist of short-length hardened-steel strips with one-sided curvature, and thus the behavior is subject to large deformation with unpredicted non-linearity. Precise dimensions of a commercial tape spring are traced by the use of high-resolution digital camera, and thin-shell FEM analysis is conducted using ABAQUS program. Based on the rotation-moment analysis suggested in previous studies, parametric analysis is conducted by adjusting the contributing factors such as strip thickness and the subtended angle of the cross section. Finally the behaviors are investigated by both analytical and non-linear finite element methods, and the results are compared with the simple measurements. Further studies suggest a possible application in dynamic characteristics of hinges during CubeSat operations.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to visualize the geometric features of the contact region between proteins in a protein complex. When proteins or ligands are represented as curved surfaces with irregularities, the property that the two surfaces contact each other without intersections is called shape compatibility. Protein-Protein or Protein-Ligand docking researches have shown that shape complementarity, chemical properties, and entropy play an important role in finding contact regions. Usually, after finding a region with high shape complementarity, we can predict the contact region by using residual polarity and hydrophobicity of amino acids belonging to this region. In the research for predicting the contact region, it is necessary to investigate the geometrical features of the contact region in known protein complexes. For this purpose, it is essential to visualize the geometric features of the molecular surface. In this paper, we propose a method to find the contact region, and visualize the geometric features of it as normal vectors and mean curvatures of the protein complex.
