A novel six-step current source inverter (CSI) with DC-side commutation and energy rebound capability is presented with detailed explanation of the circuit operation. The prposed inverter can operate in a very wide range of frequency and load variation by employing DC-side commutation. Also, the energy rebound makes the use of low voltage SCR's possible and increases the inverter efficiency. Motor operation is also possible in four quadrants in this proposed current source inverter. The advantages of the proposed CSI over conventional ones are described and experimental results are given in oscillograms.
Current Source Inverter(CSI) operated in square wave mode is more efficient than the PWM CSI because of increased cost greater complexity of control algorithm, and substantial switching losses EMI. But the square wave output current of CSI rich in low order harmonics produce motor torque ripples. Therefore in this paper describes the active power filters for square wave current compensation of current source induction motor. Also extended current synchronous detection(ECSD) as compensation algorithm is proposed. To confirm the validity o proposed system some simulation results are presented and discussed.
Inverter is classified into voltage source and current source by the circuit's configuration. VSI (voltage source inverter) has the excellent generality, economical effects and high power-factors. CSI (current source inverter) is proper to frequent acceleration and deceleration of induction motor, the energy recovering accomplished to ac power line without any other device. But CSI inverter have some troubles such that the numbers of components are increased and the circuits are complicated. To solve these problems, a new inverter is proposed in this paper. This method gives protection of inverters when appears both an instantaneous load-open circuits and an instantaneous load-short circuits, and it has the both merits of both VSI and CSI.

Current Source Inverter(CSI), operated in square wave mode, is more efficient thant the PWM CSI because of increased cost, greater complexity of control algorithm and substantial switching losses, EMI. But, the square wave output current of CSI, rich in low order harmonics produce motor torque ripples. Therefore, in this paper, describes active power filters for compensating square wave input current of current source induction motor. Also, notch filtering as compensation algorithm is employed. To confirm the validity of proposed system, PSIM simulation results are presented and discussed.
This paper presents a comparative study of P and PI controllers for a current source inverter (CSI) fed induction motor drive system. A dq model has been used which incorporates the induction motor and the inverter power supply with current feedback. The model is used first to generate the steady state curves to determine the operating point through computer simulations using the software package MATLAB. Then a transient analysis has been carried out for different values of the speed and current controller parameters. The controller value is adjusted by the Ziegler-Nichols method. It has been observed that the transient time to reach the steady state value is larger with the PI controller than with the P controller.
A new current source inverter (CSl) with dc-side commutation and load-side energy recovery circuit is proposed with analysis and explanation of the circuit operation. Proposed inverter overcomes the most drawbacks of the conventional CSI's - high device voltage stress, low operating frequency range, large commutation capacitance, etc. - by employing simultaneous recovery and commutation concept. The new CSI employs only one commutation capacitor and it can be built with considerably low cost. The commutation energies are temporarily stored into a large dc capacitor and recovered to the load side, thus the device voltage stress is low and the efficiency is high in the proposed inverter. Computer simulation results are given at the steady state, and a guideline determining the commutation circuit is given.
Simultaneous control of active and reactive power for superconducting magnetic energy storage is possible by a current source inverter with paise - width modulation. And a current source inverter is useful to reduce low order harmonics. In this paper, paise generating method for pulse - width modulation is studied and harmonics with and without paise - width modulation is compared.

This paper proposes a soft-switching current source inverter for a photovoltaic power system. The proposed inverter has an H-type switched-capacitor module composed of two semiconductor switches, two diodes, and an LC resonant circuit. The operation of the proposed system was analyzed by a theoretical approach with equivalent circuits and was verified by computer simulations with SPICE and experimental implementation with a hardware prototype. The proposed system could be effectively applied for the power converter of photovoltaic power system interconnected with the AC power system.

When the induction motor is operated by CSI, the commutation capacitance in the CSI circuit is increased according to the increase of large capacitor system. The output voltage spikes are generated at the moment of charge and discharge of the commutation capacitor. Also, since output current comprise a great number of harmonics, torque ripples of the motor are generated, having bad effects on the motor. In this study, by adopting the 18-phase multiple high Frequency Current Source Inverter (HFCSI), torque ripples generated by the voltage spikes are mostly eliminated except the 17th and 19th harmonics. To reduce the voltage spikes comprised in the output voltage, particularly, the methods of eliminating the cause of bad effect upon the motor are proposed in this paper. In the proposed method, by using additional voltage Clamping Curcuit (VCC), it is possible to select the values of commutation capacitor energy loss in commutating, the commutating capacitor, and the capacitor in the clamping circuit.

In this study, we present the modern hybrid system based power generation for electric vehicle applications. We describe the hybrid structure of modified current source based DC - DC converters used to extract the maximum power from Photovoltaic (PV) and Fuel Cell system. Due to reduced dc-link capacitor requirement and higher reliability, the current source inverters (CSI) better compared to the voltage source based inverter. The novel control strategy includes Distributed Maximum Power Point Tracking (DMPPT) for photovoltaic (PV) and fuel cell power generation system. The proposed DC - DC converters have been analyzed in both buck and boost mode of operation under duty cycle 0.5>d, 0.5<d<1 and 0.5<d for capable electric vehicle applications. The proposed topology benefits include one common DC-AC inverter that interposes the generated power to supply the charge for the sharing of load in a system of hybrid supply with photovoltaic panels and fuel cell PEM. An improved control of Direct Torque and Flux Control (DTFC) based induction motor fed by current source converters for electric vehicle. In order to achieve better performance in terms of speed, power and miles per gallon for the expert, to accepting high regenerative braking current as well as persistent high dynamics driving performance is required. A simulation model for the hybrid power generation system based electric vehicle has been developed by using MATLAB/Simulink. The Direct Torque and Flux Control (DTFC) is planned using Xilinx ISE software tool in addition to a Modelsim 6.3 software tool that is used for simulation purposes. The FPGA based pulse generation is used to control the induction motor for electric vehicle applications. FPGA has been implemented, in order to verify the minimal error between the simulation results of MATLAB/Simulink and experimental results.
