  • Switched reluctance machine has much attention because of high efficiency, high power and DC series torque characteristics with a traction drive. But the motor has to have a regenerative mode when it is adopted in an electric vehicle. A current divergence during the regeneration makes difficulties in the control of SRM. This paper proposes a reference current limitation strategy for a stable regeneration based on simulations and experimental tests. The motor is operated with conventional current limit and switching angle control method in motoring mode. Simulations and experiments are executed to verify proposed method.

  • Magnetic flux saturation dependent on phase of initial input power to high voltage transformer used in Micro wave oven. To limit inrush current high voltage transformer the relay contact should be ˝ON˝ when the lowest point of input voltage phase. The improved circuit is form compensating interrupt signal Micom input so the relay contact can be ˝ON˝ when the inrush current is lower. Test results are presented that improved circuit satisfies the limit 50[A] of requirement for input voltage variation mode. And the result verified by statistical method.

  • This paper proposes a simple MPPT control scheme of a Current-Control-Loop Error system Based that can be obtains a lot of advantage to compare with another digital control method, P&O and IncCond algorithm that is applied mostly a PV system. An existent method is needed an expensive processor such as DSP that calculated to change the measure power of a using current and voltage sensor at the once. Therefore, it is applied a small home power generation system that required many expenses. But, a proposed method is easy to solve the cost reduction and power unbalance problems that it is used by control scheme to limit error of a current control of common sensor. This proposed algorithm had verified through a simulation and an experiment on battery charger using PIC that is the microprocessor of a low price.

  • A method for determining the optimum ideal MHD $\beta$limit and the operation conditions is presented for an axisymmetric tokamak reactor with a circular cross section. The $\beta$limit is calculated under the constraints of ideal MHD instability criteria with varying the operation conditions which depend on the toroidal current density distributions. Semiempirical laws deduced from experimental observations are used for the toroidal current density distributions. Analytic derivations of various equations required to determine the $\beta$limit are carried out from the empirical equations. Various distributions of the $\beta$limit are obtained by the numerical calculations for different distributions of the toroidal current density. The resulting values of the maximum $\beta$limited by ideal MHD instabilities are expressed by a scaling law in terms of the tokamak geometry and the safety factor.

  • Recently, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(PMSM) drives are widely used for industrial applications due to its high efficiency and high power factor control strategy. PMSM generally have two classifications such as the SPMSM(Surface Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors) and IPMSM(Inter Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors). IPMSA has economical merits over SPMSM in higher speed range, mechanical robustness, and higher power rate by the geometric difference. The maximum torque operation in IPMSM is realized by the current angle control which is to utilize additional reluctance torque due to a rotor saliency. In traction, spindle and compressor drives, constant power operation with higher speed range are desirable. This is simply achieved in the DC motor drives by the reduction of the field current as the speed is increased. However, in the PMSM, direct control of the magnet flux is not available. The airgap flux can be weakened by the appropriate current angle control to demagnetize. In this paper, the control method of optimal current vector in IPMSM is described in order to obtain the maximum torque or maximum output with the speed and load variations. The applied algorithm is realized by the proto system with torque and speed control Experimental results show this approach is satisfied for the high performance servo applications. • Seismic design provisions in Korea has developed based on seismic provisions in United States (e.g., ATC 3-06). Current seismic design provisions in U .S. is moving toward adopting enhanced concept for design. Federal Emergence Management Agency (FEMA) Provides the NEHRP recommended Provisions for the Development of Seismic Regulations for New Buildings which can be used as a source document for use by any interested members of the building community. Current seismic design provisions in U .S. generally use a uni-level force. These provisions can not be satisfied if the limit state design is concerned. Limit state can be defined as a state causing undesirable performance o( a structure (e .g., serviceability, ultimate, buckling, etc.). Even if there are provision for controlling drift by two levels, it is still difficult to satisfy limit states using uni-level force. Architectural Institute of Japan (AIJ) uses a hi-level forces Int seismic loadings which can satisfy serviceability and ultimate limit state. However, the seismic parameters used in AIJ guideline are basically determined by subjective manner of code committee member and professions. These parameters need to be determined based on target quantities (target reliability, target energy dissipation, target displacement, target stress level, etc.). This study develops the method to determine the sesmic design parameters based on a certain taget level. Reliability is used as a target level and load factors in ANSI/ASCE 7-88 are selected as design parameters to be determined.

  • This paper presents new methods to resolve the important limits in the decoupled UPFC model for power flow, by which conventional power flow program can be performed with addition of two buses per one UPFC. In order to operate UPFC to the desired value, the series voltage and shunt current of UPFC should be computed. So a method of calculating these by simple equations after power flow is derived. However, the calculated magnitude of series voltage and/or shunt current of UPFC may not be allowed because of the UPFC limit \ulcorner to the ratings of inverters. In this case, the active power and the reactive power (or the voltage magnitude) of UPFC buses should be revised to resolve the limit. This paper proposes the Newton Raphson method to resolve these limits. Particularly, when resolving the series voltage magnitude, three strategies are proposed according to the priority of the active power and the reactive power (or the voltage magnitude).

  • The superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) applied into the neural line of a power system, which can limit the unsymmetrical fault current from the single-line ground fault or the double-line ground fault, was reported to be the effective application location of the SFCL in a power system. However, the limiting operation for the symmetrical fault current like the triple line-ground fault is not effective because of properties of the balanced three-phase system. In this paper, the limiting method of the symmetrical fault current in a power system with a SFCL applied into neutral line was suggested. Through the short-circuit experiments of the three-phase fault types for the suggested method, the fault current limiting and recovery characteristics of the SFCL in the neutral line were analyzed and the effectiveness of the suggested method was described.

  • $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$ superconducting thick film was fabricated by surface diffusion process of $Y_2BaCUO_5$ and the mixed compound of $(3BaCuO_2+2CuO)$ expected to be liquid phase above the peritectic temperature of YBa2Cu30x. For the surface diffusion. 3BaCu02+2CuO mixed with binder material was patterned on $Y_2BaCuO_5$ substrate by the screen printing method. The characteristic of current limit on thick film fabricated was measured. The thick film limited the current from $2.8213mA_{rms}$ to $4.2034mA_{rms}$ with $500{\Omega}$ load resistance, and from $4.1831mA{rms}$ to $4.2150mA_{rms}$ with $10{\Omega}$ load resistance.
