Researchers have embarked on an active investigation into the feasibility of adopting alternative materials as a solution to the mounting environmental and economic challenges associated with traditional concrete-based construction materials, such as reinforced concrete. The examination of concrete's mechanical properties using laboratory methods is a complex, time-consuming, and costly endeavor. Consequently, the need for models that can overcome these drawbacks is urgent. Fortunately, the ever-increasing availability of data has paved the way for the utilization of machine learning methods, which can provide powerful, efficient, and cost-effective models. This study aims to explore the potential of twelve machine learning algorithms in predicting the tensile strength of geopolymer concrete (GPC) under various curing conditions. To fulfill this objective, 221 datasets, comprising tensile strength test results of GPC with diverse mix ratios and curing conditions, were employed. Additionally, a number of unseen datasets were used to assess the overall performance of the machine learning models. Through a comprehensive analysis of statistical indices and a comparison of the models' behavior with laboratory tests, it was determined that nearly all the models exhibited satisfactory potential in estimating the tensile strength of GPC. Nevertheless, the artificial neural networks and support vector regression models demonstrated the highest robustness. Both the laboratory tests and machine learning outcomes revealed that GPC composed of 30% fly ash and 70% ground granulated blast slag, mixed with 14 mol of NaOH, and cured in an oven at 300°F for 28 days exhibited superior tensile strength.
The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of four different light curing modes on the marginal leakage of Class V composite resin restoration. Eighty extracted human premolars were used. Wedge-shaped class Y cavities were prepared on the buccal surface of the tooth with high-speed diamond bur without bevel. The cavities were positioned half of the cavity above and half beyond the cemento-enamel junction. The depth, height, and width of the cavity were 2 mm, 3 mm and 2 mm respectively. The specimens were divided into 4 groups of 20 teeth each. All the specimen cavities were treated with Prime & Bond$^{R}$ NT dental adhesive system (Dentsply DeTrey GmbH, Germany) according to the manufacturer's instructions and cured for 10 seconds except group VI which were cured for 3 seconds. All the cavities were restored with resin composite Spectrum$^{TM}$ TPH A2 (Dentsply DeTrey GmbH, Germany) in a bulk. Resin composites were light-cured under 4 different modes. A regular intensity group (600 mW/${cm}^2$, group I) was irradiated for 30 s, a low intensity group (300 mW/${cm}^2$, group II) for 60 s and a ultra-high intensity group (1930 mW/${cm}^2$, group IV) for 3 s. A pulse-delay group (group III) was irradiated with 400 mW/${cm}^2$ for 2 s followed by 800 mW/${cm}^2$ for 10 s after 5 minutes delay. The Spectrum$^{TM}$ 800 (Dentsply DeTrey GmbH, Germany) light-curing units were used for groups I, II and III and Apollo 95E (DMD, U.S.A.) was used for group IV. The composite resin specimens were finished and polished immediately after light curing except group III which were finished and polished during delaying time. Specimens were stored in a physiologic saline solution at 37$^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours. After thermocycling (500$\times$, 5-55$^{\circ}C$), all teeth were covered with nail varnish up to 0.5 mm from the margins of the restorations, immersed in 37$^{\circ}C$, 2% methylene blue solution for 24 hours, and rinsed with tap water for 24 hours. After embedding in clear resin, the specimens were sectioned with a water-cooled diamond saw (Isomet$^{TM}$, Buehler Co., Lake Bluff, IL, U.S.A.) along the longitudinal axis of the tooth so as to pass the center of the restorations. The cut surfaces were examined under a stereomicroscope (SZ-PT Olympus, Japan) at ${\times}$25 magnification, and the images were captured with a CCD camera (GP-KR222, Panasonic, Japan) and stored in a computer with Studio Grabber program. Dye penetration depth at the restoration/dentin and the restoration/enamel interfaces was measured as a rate of the entire depth of the restoration using a software (Scion image, Scion Corp., U.S.A.) The data were analysed statistically using One-way ANOVA and Tukey's method. The results were as follows : 1. Pulse-Delay group did not show any significant difference in dye penetration rate from other groups at enamel and dentin margins (p>0.05) 2. At dentin margin, ultra-high intensity group showed significantly higher dye penetration rate than both regular intensity group and low intensity group (p<0.05). 3. At enamel margin, there were no statistically significant difference among four groups (p>0.05). 4. Dentin margin showed significantly higher dye penetration rate than enamel margin in all groups (p<0.05).
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the antibacterial effect of tea tree oil in denture cleaners. A self-curing denture resin was used to make the experimental specimen ($12mm{\times}2mm$). A saline solution was used as the control. To observe surface changes after cleaning, the microhardness and color of the experimental specimen's surface were analyzed. For the antibacterial activity test, Candida albicans was used. The microhardness and color of the surface remained unchanged after cleaning. The result of the antibacterial activity test revealed that the tea tree oil-containing solutions had a more enhanced antibacterial effect than did the saline solution. Therefore, these results suggest that the tea tree oil-containing solution is a promising denture cleaners.
Transparent, photocatalytic, and self-cleaning TiO2 thin film is developed by TiO2 sol-gel coating on glass and polycarbonate (PC) substrates. Acetyl acetone (AcAc) suppresses the precipitation of TiO2 by forming a yellowish (complex) transparent sol-gel. XPS analysis confirms the presence of Ti2p and O1s in the thin films on glass and PC substrates. The TiO2-sol is prepared by stabilizing titanium (IV) isopropoxide (TTIP) with diethylamine and methyl alcohol. The addition of AcAcsilane coupling solution to the TiO2-sol instantaneously turns to yellowish color owing to the complexing of titanium with AcAc. The AcAc solution substantially improves the photocatalytic property of the TiO2 coating layer in MB solutions. The coated TiO2 film exhibits super hydrophilicity without and with light irradiation. The TiO2 thin film stabilized by adding 8.7 wt% AcAc shows the highest photo-degradation for methylene blue (MB) solution under UV light irradiation. Also, the optimum photocatalytic activity is obtained for the 8.7 wt% AcAc-stabilized TiO2 coating layer calcined at 450 ℃. The thin-films on glass exhibit fast self-cleaning from oleic acid contamination within 45 min of UV-light irradiation. The appropriate curing time at 140 ℃ improves the anti-fogging and thermal stability of the TiO2 film coated on PC substrate. The watermark-free PC substrate is particularly beneficial to combat fogging problems of transparent substrates.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of marination condition(immersion and tumbling) on quality characteristics of cured pork meat and sensory properties of pork jerky. Pork meat was immersed for 1, 6, 12, 24, and 48 hours or tumbled for 10, 20, 30, and 60 minutes with curing solution. The jerky was made from cured pork meat, immersed for 6, 12, 24, and 48 hours or tumbled for 10, 20, 30, and 60 minutes. The curing yields and water holding capacity in immersion and tumbling treatments were increased as marination time increased, and the curing yields of tumbling treatments were higher than those of immersion treatments, but water holding capacity was not. The pH value of all treatments were not significantly different. CIE L*- and b*-value of immersion treatments were significantly decreased as marination time increased, but CIE a*-value were increased. Objective color of tumbling treatments showed a similar tendency with those of immersion treatment. The sensory properties of pork jerky were not significantly different between immersion and tumbling treatments.

When fresh concrete is exposed to low temperature, the concrete may suffer frost damage due to freezing at early ages and the strength development may be delayed. One of the solution methods to resolve these problems is to reduce freezing temperature of concrete by the use of chemical admixture called Accelerator for freeze protection. In this study we Investigate the effect on the strength development of cement mortar using accelerator for freeze protection with the variable curing condition. As the result of this study, the mortar using accelerator for freeze protection show continuously the strength development in curing condition of -5$^{\circ}C$. And the compressive strength under variable temperature condition was higher than constant temperature condition in same maturity.

In this paper, the reaction properties of silica source in the accelerated curing conditions using autoclave and the fundamental properties of inorganic Micro Defect Free(MiDF) concrete using silica source are studied. Studies show that Si ions elution rate from silica source in autoclave curing is higher in amorphous source. In tap water conditions, solids which is source after autoclaved curing show a higher mass reduction in amorphous materials, which is attributed to the higher elution rate of ion. In $Ca(OH)_2$ solution conditions, amorphous materials show higher mass increase, due to increase in C-S-H minerals. From experiment for influence on the properties of MiDF concrete by using nano silica materials, the specimen with silica fume shows an increase in compressive strength and a decrease in absorption depending on replacement rate up to 5.5%, while nano silica with amorphous phase and high-fineness shows a decrease in compressive strength and decrease in the water absorption. The specimen with nano silica increases the pore below 10,000nm, but reduces pore between 10,000 and 100,000nm. The above results show that the porosity and absorption rate of MiDF concrete can be reduced by using amorphous nano-size silica. However, to reduce the pore of 50 to 10,000nm, better dispersion of nano material in the cement matrix will be necessary. We will focus on the this item in the next research.
The experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of variables in preparing TFC membrane by interfacial polymerization. Obtained results are as follow: As the concentration of MPD increses, the rejection rate incresed, the total volume flux was decresed. As the dipping time in MPD solution increases, the rejection rate increased, the total volume flux was increased until reach optimum point. As the dipping time in TMC solution increses, the total volume flux increased, the rejection rate was increased until reach optimum point. As the curing temperature increases, the total volume flux increased was an optimum point in the rejection rate. Since the quantity of generating hydrochloric acid was small, the required quantity of NaOH for neutriliztion was small. The post-treatment with ethanol, isopropanol and water in the temprerature ranging of $5~7^{\circ}C$ brought an increment of the rejection and the total volume flux, For water temperature ranging of $5~7^{\circ}C$was the optimum temperature in the post treatment.
Silver nanoparticles(AgNPs) were attached to wool fibers using glycidyltrimethylammonium chloride(GTAC), which is a type of quaternary ammonium salt. GTAC, which contains an epoxy functional group that, under high temperatures, generates a ring-opening reaction with wool fibers, which contain the amine group. Then, the AgNPs are attached to the surface of the GTAC-treated wool fibers by treatment with a silver colloidal solution. The process involves the following procedures: (1) The wool fibers are immersed in the GTAC solution, followed by pre-drying at $80^{\circ}C$ and curing at $180^{\circ}C$ to induce an alteration in the chemical structure; and (2) The wool fibers treated with GTAC are immersed in the silver colloid at $40^{\circ}C$ for 120 min to chemically induce a strong attachment of the AgNPs to the wool fibers. Scanning electron microscopy was used to analyze the influence of the concentrations of GTAC and the silver colloid, as well as the influence of the applied temperature of the silver colloid on the wool fibers, and the influence of the morphological changes in the wool fiber surfaces. As a result, the enhanced concentrations of GTAC and the silver colloid together with an elevated applied temperature of silver colloid have a tendency to increase in Ag atomic%.
