Bulk Gadolinium의 Curie점 결정 (The Determination of Curie Point of Bulk Gadolinium)

  • 이 short note에서 우리는 bulk gadolinium의 강자성에서 상자성으로의 전이온도(즉, Curie점) 측정에 대한 결과를 보고하고자 한다. 이 결과보고는 gadolinium박막에 대한 이전의 결과에 정당성을 주기 위해서 쓰여졌다. 본 실험에서 bulk gadolinium의 Curie점은 시료의 저항을 온도의 함수로 측정함으로써 결정하였다. 이는 Curie점에서 비열의 특이성이 바로 비저항의 특이성으로 연결되기 때문이다. 결과적으로 우리는 bulk gadolinium의 Curie점이 19.2${\pm}$0.$3^{\circ}C$가 되고이 값은 비열의 실험치로 결정한 다른 그룹들의 실험값들과 잘 일치하고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • The purity dependence of the Curie point and the critical exponent of heat capaicty has been studied by measuring the resistvity of nickel samples with several different purities. The resistivity was measured by the 4-point ac method with a lock-in amplifier. The Curie points determined from in-phase and out-of-phase signals were found to be consisten twith each other . We found that the Curie point and the critical exponent of heat capacity did not depend on the purity of samples.

  • 피난의 열 이성화반응 생성물에 관한 연구를 위하여 열분해 조건을 가스크로마토그래피와 질량분석기에 장치된 전기로형 및 curie-point 열분해기를 이용하여 실험을 행하였다. 그 결과, 최적 조건하에서 전기로형보다는 curie-point 열분해기에 의해서 피난으로부터 주 이성화 생성물인 citronellen (70%)을 얻었다. 본 연구에서 열분해 최적 조건은 $590^{\circ}C$, 4 Sec이고, 확인된 열분해 주 생성물은 citronellene, m-Menth-6-ene, m-Menth-1-ene, 1-Methyl-4(1-methyl-ethylidene) cyclohexane이었다.

  • The Curie point annealing effects on electrophysical phenomena at the magnetized strontium ferrite(SrO$\cdot$ 6$Fe_{2}O_{3}$) ceramics electrode/10$^{-3}$M KC1 aqueous electrolyte interfaces have been studied using cyclic voltammetric, normal pulse voltammetric, chronocoulometric, and electrochemical impedance techiques. After the Curie point annealing the magnetic flux densities of the speciment was decreased from 900-1100 gauss to 1-2 gauss, i.e. demagnetized. The real component of interfacial impedance was decreased from 7280-7320 ohm to 790-830 ohm. The adsorption and the charge on the electrical double layer was increased from 0 $\mu$C to -58 $\mu$C. The Curie point annealing and the related electrical double layer effect can influence not only the electrophysical properties of the strontium ferrite ceramics electrode itself but also the electrochemical phenomena at the electrode interface. This experimental results suggest that the Curie point annealing and the related electrical double layer effect can be applied to electrochemical magnetic sensors.

The critical behaviors of resistivity in nickel films

  • The critical phenomena in nickel films have been studied by observing the resistivity behavior with temperatures near the Curie point. We observed the thickness dependence of the Curie point in nickel films, that is, the thinner the film is, the lower the Curie point is. This is as expected. Using the heat capacity data, we also found the amplitude ratios of bulk and film systems to be 1.222 and 1.197(average0, respectively. These values are cose to the theoretical prediction of 1.46 given by the Heisenberg, S=$\infty$ Model.

Development of Self-Actuated Shutdown System Using Curie Point Electromagnet

  • An innovative concept for a passive reactor shutdown system, so called self-actuated shutdown system(SASS), is inevitably required for the inherent safety in liquid metal reactor, which is designed with the totally different concept from the usual reactor shutdown system in LWR. SASS using Curie point electromagnet(CPEM) was selected as the passive reactor shutdown system for KALIMER (Korea Advanced Liquid MEtal Reactor). A mock-up of the SASS was designed, fabricated and tested. From the test it was confirmed that the mockup was self-actuated at the Curie point of the temperature sensing material used in the mockup. An articulated control rod was also fabricated and assembled with the CPEM to confirm that the control rod can be inserted into core even when the control rod guide tube is deformed due to earthquake. The operability of SASS in the actual sodium environment should be confirmed in the future. All the design and test data will be applied to the KALIMER design.

  • P(VDF/TrFE) copolymer thin films with 70/30 and 80/20 mol% VDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) and TrFE (trifluoroethylene) rates were prepared by using a vapor deposition method, During thin films were prepared, the substrate temperatures were maintained at 30 $^{\circ}C$ and 120 $^{\circ}C$, and the heating source temperature was fixed at 350 $^{\circ}C$. Contary to PVDF homopolymer, P(VDF/TrFE) copolymers showed the Curie point(Tc) below the melting point. The Curie point (Tc) and the melting point of the P(VDF/TrFE) copolymers were changed as a function of substrate temperature and the VDF mol%. The Curie point and the melting point of P(VDF/TreFE) thin films decreased and increased with increasing substrate temperature, respectively. Also with increasing VDF mol%, the melting point decreased slightly, however the Curie point increased.

  • This study, involving thirty-two patients with carcinoma of uterine cervix treated by high dose rate intracavitary irradiation using a remotely controlled afterloading system, compares the doss at point A and 8 with the Curie-minutes prescription. A linear least-square regression analysis was used to compare the two sets of date. Correlation coefficients between doses at points A and B and the Ci-min prescription are 0.92 (p<0.001) and 0.90 (p<0.001), respectively, and linear relationship is observed between these two system. The limitation and significance of the comparison of the two approaches to intracavitary dosimetry is discussed.

  • 바니린을 Curie-point pyrolyzer-GC/MSD 장치를 사용하여 920, 740, 500, $333^{\circ}C$에서 각각 열분해하고, 열분해 생성물을 분리 및 확인하였다. 확인된 성분중에서 $920^{\circ}C$에서는 95개 성분, $740^{\circ}C$에서는 40개 성분, $500^{\circ}C$에서는 17개 성분, $333^{\circ}C$에서는 11개 성분을 확인할 수 있었으며 이 열분해 반응생성물 중 주요 생성물인 벤젠, 페놀, 2-히드록시 벤즈알데히드, 2-메톡시페놀, 4-메톡시벤즈알데히드, 벤즈알데히드, 메톡시벤젠, 1,3-시크로펜타디엔 등은 바니린의 작용기가 해리되었거나, 분해된 생성물로 생각되며, 1,3-benzodioxole-5-carbox-aldehyde, 메틸벤젠, 스틸렌, 메틸페놀 등은 $500^{\circ}C$ 이하에서도 바니린의 메톡시 작용기가 해리되어 생성되는 것으로 생각된다.

  • 시료의 한 부분에 순간적으로 가열하여 시료의 특정 부분의 온도변화를 조사함으로써 시료의 열 확산도를 측정하였다. $Pb_5Ge_3O_{11}$ 단결정의 환산 열 확산도는 trigonal 구조인 $30^{\circ}C$에서는 $0.0117cm^2/^{\circ}C$, curie point 근방인 $178^{\circ}C$에서는 $0.0105cm^2/^{\circ}C$이며 hexagonal 구조인 $180^{\circ}C$에서는 0.0112cm로 각각 나타났다. 이는 $Pb_5Ge_3O_{11}$ 단결정을 같은 열량으로 가열하였을 때, 실온에서 curie 온도쪽으로 갈 때 가열 효과가 적었으며 curie point에서 최소가 되었다가 curie 온도 이상에서는 갑자기 증가하여 일정하게 되었다. 따라서 $Pb_5Ge_3O_{11}$ 단결정의 상전이 용도가 1m 근방임을 확인하였다.
