Methods: We searched research on the interventions for postpartum disease and postpartum care in 4 domestic search engines. After that, we conducted eligibility screening based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: 1. We selected total 50 studies. There were 2 randomized controlled trial (RCT), 5 non-RCT, 35 case reports, 8 case series within the 6~8 weeks after childbirth. 2. Of the 35 case reports, several interventions were used : acupuncture (22), moxibustion (11), cupping therapy (7), pharmacopuncture (5), chuna manipulation (4), herbal medicine (34). The most common symptoms were musculoskeletal symptoms (8), followed by postpartum depression (7). Various prescriptions and acupoints of oriental medicine were used depending on the diseases or symptoms. 3. Of the 8 case series, 382 subjects in 5 case series had taken Saenghwa-tang-gagam. And Acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping therapy (5), pharmacopuncture (1) were used as an intervention. 4. The most commonly used acupoint is 腎兪 (BL23) in the pain including postpartum back pain and 三陰交 (SP6), 關元 (CV4) in the postpartum care. 關元 (CV4) is the most commomly used moxibustion point not only the postpartum disease but also the postpartum care. Conclusions: In clinical studies of oriental medicine related to postpartum disease and postpartum care, pain-related clinical studies that belong to or progress to Sanhupung were the most common (30%), and among them, postpartum low back pain studies were the most common (20%). Based on this, we believe that large-scale clinical studies with high quality using oriental interventions including chuna and pharmacopuncture are needed to establish guidelines for the management of pain treatment including postpartum back pain.

Results: IPL is a type of light treatment that is employed by radiating the short-pulse wave, which is transformed from high-intensity light. It may be used to stimulate skin along meridian channels in clinical fields of Korean medicine like acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping therapy, Guasha therapy, and other related traditional techniques. So, it may be feasible to treat not only lentigines, freckles, facial dermatitis, and acne, but also other applications. In addition, it could be recommended for use with herb remedies or herb facial mask packs. Conclusions: IPL may be a plausible method in phototherapy of Korean medicine.

  • Psoriasis is a chronic disease that has no definitive cure. In this review study, the main sources of Persian Medicine (PM) such as the Canon of Medicine (by Avicenna) and Al-Havi (by Rhazes) were assessed to identify non-pharmacological treatments for psoriasis. Several treatments that are recommended for this disease include nutritional advice, lifestyle modifications, and manipulation therapy such as wet cupping (Hijamah), leech therapy, and phlebotomy (Fasd). These recommendations may help to prevent recurrence and be useful in improving psoriasis. The efficacy of PM recommendations to improve psoriasis should be evaluated in future studies.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to report the results of treating patients with acute low back pain syndrome who are difficult to walk with Whidam's Vibrator Pelvic Sugi Therapy. Methods : We used combinations of korean medicine such as herbal medicine, acupuncture, cupping therapy, and thermal therapy. At the same time, the patient was treated with Whidam's Vibrator Pelvic Sugi Therapy. The first period of hospitalization was 14 days and the second period was 54 days. At the second hospitalization, back pain recurred and was unable to walk. At the first hospitalization, L5-S1 HIVD and L4-5 Mild HIVD were diagnosed on lumbar MRI, and there was no abnormality in blood tests. Results : By relieving muscle tension and restoring the weakened muscle elasticity with herbal treatment and Whidam's Vibrator Pelvic Sugi Therapy, back pain decreased and the inability to walk gradually improved, making it possible to walk on its own. Conclusions : The results of standing and walking on one's own were obtained by relieving muscle tension and restoring weakened muscle elasticity in acute back pain syndrome with gait disturbance diagnosed with lumbar herniated intervertebral disc through korean medicine treatment and Whidam's Vibrator Pelvic Sugi Therapy. Whidam's Vibrator Pelvic Sugi Therapy is thought to help acute back pain by restoring muscle elasticity and strengthening muscle strength. In the future, it is expected that additional clinical studies will be conducted on various pain diseases with Whidam's Vibrator Pelvic Sugi Therapy.

  • The number of allergic contact dermatitis patients is steadily increasing but a proper reliability treatment guide is not prepared in Oriental Medicine. Also, the number of clinical cases on allergic contact dermatitis is not sufficient in Oriental medicine. As such, the facial flushing of allergic contact dermatitis which has been improved by infra-red therapy is significant in its treatment purpose. We reported on 43-year old male patient with allergic contact dermatitis. We treated him with herbal concoction, acupuncture, infra-red therapy and cupping therapy. We have received a good result in this case by using the combination of infra-red therapy. We reached a conclusion that using infra-red therapy can improve the facial flushing of patient with allergic contact dermatitis. However, further research on the effect of infra-red therapy for these symptoms is desired.
