  • IN this study when drawing a square cup blank holder pressure necessary for flange wrinkling prevention was experimentally studied. The materials used in the experiment were SPCC and SUS304 and drawing ratio was 1.62∼2.0 Two case for lubrication condition were experimented. One was without lubricant and the other was with lubrication of high viscosity.

  • The demand for user convenient devices in automotive applications are fast growing, mainly driven by the customer's requirement for higher efficiency and more features. In important such feature is the cold module for cars, which are convenient luxuries that warm or cool drinks placed in the cup holder by means of a thermoelectric element. In present study, we would like to find out the optimal thickness of the cup holder and mounting position of the thermoelectric element through experiments under various testing conditions and thermal analysis. The resulting thermal distribution of the primary area of thermal analysis was found to be lowest when the thickness was 2.5 mm. The temperature distribution was also lowest when the thermal element was positioned underneath the holder (A-type).

  • The spinning is a very effective manufacturing technology for short production runs in a variety of sizes and shapes, because it can form the cross-section or tubular parts various shapes. However extensive experimental and analytical research has not been carried out. In this study, and fundamental experiment was conducted to improve productivity with process parameter such as tool path, angle of roller holder(a), feed rate(v) and corner radius of forming roller(Rr). These factors were selected as variables in the experiment because they were most likely expected to have and effect on spring back. The clearance was controlled in order to achieve the precision product which is comparable to deep drawing one. And also thickness and diameter distribution of a multistage cup obtained by shear spinning process were observed and compared with those of a commercial product produced by conventional deep drawing.

  • In order to investigate the effect of flange wrinkling on the wall break of a deep drawn rectangular cup, experiments and simulation were done. The effect of the wrinkling height on drawing force and wall break for a moving blank holder system with spacer were studied by setting a fixed clearance between the drawing die and the blank holder. Simulation and experimental results showed that wall break could be provoked by the flange wrinkling. As the wrinkling height increased, the punch force grew. The maximum punch force was obtained at its final stage of stroke.

  • The emission test a domestic fabricated cathode is conducted using an easy-replaceable-emitter-type test bench. A simple cylindrical button type cathode is dropped vertically into a cathode cup holder. The cathode is heated by a tungsten wire heater located around the cup holder. The cathode temperature is measured by an optical pyrometer. A high voltage pulse power supply gives the anode-cathode gap voltage up to 20 kV with the pulse width of 15 us. The emitted current from the cathode is captured at a faraday cup and is measured using current transformer and oscilloscope. The test bench is installed in the vacuum chamber with easy access door and, therefore, the cathode can be easily replaceable. We confirmed the emission current density of $15A/cm^2$ and $80A/cm^2$ with a domestic fabricated B-type cathode and a Scandate cathode, respectively. The detailed test result for the cathode will be presented.

  • The wrinkling in the flange and wall of a part is a predominent failure mode in stamping of sheet metal parts. In many cases this wrinkling may be eliminated by appropriate control of the blank holding force(BHF), but BHF affects the draw depth. Although the wrinkles of flange have been made in the incipient stage of drawing, if the height of wrinkles is maintained under a prescribed limit by decrease or extinction of wrinkles in the course of drawing, small BHP can be allowed so that the depth of drawing could be increased. Authors research the variation of the wrinkles in flange in the course of square cup drawing by using aluminium A1015 and aluminium alloy A5052.

  • During the deep drawing process an initially flat blank is clamped between the die and the blank holder after which the punch moves down to deform the clamped blank into the desired shape. In general, sheet metal forming may involve stretching, drawing, bending or various combinations of those basic modes of deformation. The deformation problems of sheet metal working involve non-linearity in geometry and material. In this work, The punch load and thickness strain of electro-galvanized sheet steel (SECD) for elliptical deep drawing are examined under the various process conditions including, punch shape radius, die shape radius. The changes of punch load and thickness strain distribution of the deformed elliptical cup are affected by the size of each die shape radius.

  • The wrinkling in the flange and wall of a part is a predominent failure mode in stamping of sheet metal parts. In many cases this wrinkling may be eliminated by appropriate control of the blank holding forco(BHF), but BHF affects the draw depth. Gotoh had studied the wrinkles under 0.02mm in height. In general, the height of wrinkles could be limited under 0.2mm practically. Therefore small BHP can be allowed so that the depth of drawing could be increased. Authors research the variation of the wrinkles in flange in the course of cup drawing by using aluminium alloy Al050 and A5052.

  • Spinning process is a chipless metal forming method for axi-symmetric parts, which is more economical, efficient and versatile method for producing parts than the other sheet metal forming process such as stamping or deep drawing. In this study, a fundamental experiment was conducted to improve productivity with process parameters such as tool path, angle of roller holder($\alpha$), feed rate($\gamma$) and corner radius of forming roller(Rr). These factors were selected as variables in the experiment because they were most likely expected to hale an effect on spring back. The empirical results were analyzed to know how much spring back was affected by these factors. And also thickness and diameter distribution of a multistage cup obtained by spinning process were observed and compared with those of a commercial product produced by conventional deep drawing.
