Bringing Computational Thinking into Science Education

  • The purpose of science education is scientific literacy, which is extended in its meaning in the $21^{st}$ century. Students must be equipped with the skills necessary to solve problems from the community beyond obtaining the knowledge from curiosity, which is called 'computational thinking'. In this paper, the authors tried to define computational thinking in science education from the view of scientific literacy in the $21^{st}$ century; (1) computational thinking is an explicit skill shown in the two steps of abstracting the problems and automating solutions, (2) computational thinking consists of concrete components and practices which are observable and measurable, (3) computational thinking is a catalyst for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education, and (4) computational thinking is a cognitive process to be learned. More implication about the necessity of including computational thinking and its emphasis in implementing in science teaching and learning for the envisioned scientific literacy is added.

초등학생의 한식 선호유형에 따른 한식 식생활 교육효과가 식생활 지속가능성에 미치는 영향 (Impact Education on Korean Diet and Diet Sustainability as Determined by the Food Preference Types of Elementary School Students)

  • This study was to identify the effects of education on Korean foods preferred by elementary students and their sustainability. A survey was conducted on 5th-grade elementary school students. Korean food preferences were classified by exploratory factor analysis as creative, healthy, or considerate, and the effects of education on Korean dietary life were classified as cognitive or emotional. Dietary life sustainability was evaluated separately. Results showed that creative and considerate preferences had significant impacts on cognitive and emotional education effects and that a healthy preference type significantly impacted the emotional effect of education. Analysis showed that creative and considerate food preference types significantly influenced dietary life sustainability and that cognitive and emotional education effects mediated these relationships. Sex was not found to have a significant moderating effect. The study shows that Korean dietary life sustainability is influenced by education on topics that promote the value and excellence of Korean food and suggests that experiential education combining practice and theory should be used to increase interest in Korean food among elementary students. Additional studies are required to determine Korean food preferences to facilitate the development of a dietary life education program that enables students to understand and maintain healthy dietary practices.

Early Childhood Teachers' Content Knowledge on Movement Education

  • The purpose of the study was to examine early childhood teachers' content knowledge of movement education. The subjects, 60 early childhood teachers, were asked to draw concept maps about early childhood movement education. Their concept maps were analyzed in terms of superordinate and subordinate concepts by contents and frequency. The results were as follows. First, 263 superordinate concepts were shown, and they were categorized into 10 representative terms (body movement/health, music, expression, movement type, movement element, games, integration/arts, social studies, tool/instrument, and math/science). Second, 2,186 subordinate concepts were shown, and running, movement, jumping, musical instrument, and expression were frequently shown. In conclusion, early childhood teachers' content knowledge of movement education were various but insufficient in aspect of its systematic organization.

한식조리전공의 교육과정에 관한 조리전공 고등학생과 대학생의 인식 조사 (The Perceptions of Culinary Art High School and Undergraduate Students on the Curriculum for Korean Culinary Arts Majors)

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate the perceptions and opinions of culinary art high school and undergraduate students on the curriculum for Korean culinary arts education. The results of the research were as follows. High school students were found to be more satisfied regarding their culinary arts curriculum than college and university students (p<0.001). In addition, high school students gave a significantly higher score for the 'need for Korean culinary arts major' than college and university students' (p<0.001). University students placed more emphasis on the current policies and business projects of the government for globalization of Korean cuisine as compared to high school and college students (p<0.001). A high percentage of respondents perceived Korean cuisine to be 'old fashioned(44.6%), followed by 'difficulty in finding a good job(40.1%)'. Forty five% of the students responded that the important factor for Korean culinary arts education was the 'curriculum'. More than half of the students perceived 'ability to adapt traditional cuisine style to foreigners and modern customers' as a very important area. In terms of areas required to be included in Korean culinary arts curriculum, ‘basic cooking skills(4.49)' received the highest perceived need score, followed by 'languages(4.46)', 'traditional Korean food(4.33)' and ‘Korean food culture(4.21)'. The findings of the study can be used to develop a curriculum for Korean culinary arts major.

도자문화 교육의 활성화 방안 연구 (Study on the activation of ceramic culture education)

  • 문화란 라틴어의 cultura에서 파생한 culture를 번역한 말로 본래의 뜻은 경작이나 재배였는데, 나중에 교양 예술 등의 뜻을 가지게 되었다. 영국의 인류학자 E. B.타일러는 저서 ${\ll}$원시문화 Primitive Culture${\gg}$(1871)에서 문화란 "지식 신앙 예술 도덕 법률 관습 등 인간이 사회의 구성원으로서 획득한 능력 또는 습관의 총체"라고 정의를 내렸다. 그리고 문화란 인류에서만 볼 수 있는 사유, 행동의 양식 중에서 유전에 의하는 것이 아니라 학습에 의해서 소속하는 사회로부터 습득하고 전달받은 것 전체를 말한다. 따라서 활발한 문화의 보급은 왕성한 교육의 힘으로 가능하다 할 수 있다. 우리의 도자문화 역시 이러한 의미에서 교육의 중요성을 다시금 확인하고 재정비가 필요하다. 문화로 자리매김을 하기 위해서는 무엇보다도 교육의 힘이 크게 작용한다. 문화가 공급하는 자와 수요자와의 감정의 공유가 있어야 가능한 것임을 감안해 보더라도 수요자가 제대로 읽어내지 못한다면 문화의 형성은 불가능하기 때문이다. 본 연구는 이러한 관점에서 문화로서의 교육의 중요성을 실감하고 현재 우리나라에서 도자공예 교육의 실태와 그 활성화 방향을 제시하고자 한다.

식생활교육 프로그램의 중요도-만족도 분석 - 서울·경기 식생활교육 프로그램 참여자를 중심으로 - (Importance-Satisfaction Analysis of a Dietary Life Education Program - Focusing on Dietary Life Education Program Participants in Seoul and Gyeonggi -)

  • This study was conducted to determine the elements that are required and that need improvement in the contents of dietary life education and the educational environment by analyzing the importance-satisfaction of a dietary life education program for dietary life education trainees. The results of the rank test for the satisfactory elements of dietary life education were in the order of competence of instructors, educational contents, time of education, educational environment and affordability of tuition. The importance-satisfaction analysis of the contents and construction of the dietary life education program showed that "suitable contents for the theme of the class", "contents and construction of practice class", "diversity of practice menu" and "diversity of educational contents" had high importance and satisfaction scores and therefore, could be maintained at their current levels. Meanwhile, "adequacy of class time" and "contents and construction of theory class" showed low importance and satisfaction scores, requiring a little effort. Whereas, "time and construction of group practice", "structure of textbook for class" and "duration of course and number of classes" showed relatively low satisfaction compared to importance, requiring major efforts for improvement. Similarly, analysis of the lecture element from dietary life education showed that "professional lecture by instructors", "lectures suitable for themes" and "lecture applicable in real life" had relatively low satisfaction compared to importance, requiring major efforts for improvement. In addition, analysis of the educational environment from dietary life education showed that "adequacy of lecture room space", "cooking equipment", "diversity of cooking utensils" and "sanitary condition of cooking utensils" also require major efforts for improvement. Therefore, dietary life education should not be executed with a simple delivery of knowledge but with both theory and practice classes to increase its application in real life, and active and specific efforts are required to nurture professional instructors and establish educational strategies.

  • 유아문화예술교육은 자신을 표현하면서 사회를 이해하는 과정으로 유아의 삶 전반에 큰 영향을 준다. 유아마다 발달 특성이 다르기에 개별적 다양성을 고려해야 한다는 개별화의 원리와 유아들이 놀이를 통한 즐거움으로 체험활동에 대한 적극적인 태도를 형성하는 놀이 중심의 원리, 전인적인 발달에 밑받침이 되는 통합적 원리, 유아가 직접 만지고 조작해 보는 경험을 제공하는 직접경험의 원리를 활용하였다. 도입에서는 통한 재료의 탐색과 생각나누기, 다함께 책을 읽고 나누기를 진행하고, 전개1과 전개2에서는 문화예술영역인 미술, 음악, 신체표현, 동극, 영화, 사진 등 예술적 표현을 즐기면서 자신의 생각을 창의적으로 표상하도록 하였다. 마무리 단계에서는 유아가 창출해낸 결과물을 함께 감상하고 자신의 생각을 발표하는 과정으로 서로의 의견을 나눌 수 있는 시간으로 구성한 교수학습지도안을 개발하였다. 유아문화예술교육을 통한 교육적 효과는 유아들이 자신의 흥미에 따라 탐구하는 학습이 강조되는 유아기에 개발하는 것이 효과적이므로, 이 연구에서는 유아문화예술교육에 적용할 수 있는 다양한 교육방안과 장르의 융합적 교육이 반영된 학습지도방안을 제시하였다.

Especially, aims of present protection martial arts is not protect oneself, protect the VIP to safely from all dangers is different thing with aims of general martial arts. Instinct that VIP protect rather than oneself should study and develop. Second, techniques and model of protection martial arts spread to who in connection with security service by systematic and organized. Preferentially, study of protection martial arts Techniques and model possible the protection martial arts learned society, found laboratory and endowed protection martial arts society organize and prevention for random of protection martial arts and must make the original protection martial arts. Third, protection martial arts official certificate and license system must organize in order to training and manage of protection martial art master, Match director(First Second), life physical director(First, Second, Third) is systematically manage by Ministry of Culture & Tourism Republic of Korea. Like this protection martial arts also classify the certificate by scholarship and experience. Fourth, In union to university, private security service company, public institution, police and system that possible leaning to protection martial arts certificate course important. In addition, destroy the commercial character of present martial arts and cultivate the pure martial arts mind, should develop to martial arts in order to improve the humanism and temperament of right body guard.

초등학교 실과 교육과정 소프트웨어 교육에 대한 교사의 인식과 개선방안 (Teachers' Perceptions of Software Education in Elementary School Practical Arts Curriculum and Improvement Plan)

  • 4차 산업혁명 시대가 시작되고 소프트웨어의 중요성이 부각됨에 따라 교육도 이를 반영하게 되었다. 이미 여러 나라에서 소프트웨어 교육을 실시하고 있으며, 우리나라도 2015 개정 교육과정이 적용되는 2019년부터 정규 교육과정에서 소프트웨어 교육을 시작하게 되었다. 본 연구는 초등학교 실과 교육과정에서 처음으로 소프트웨어 교육을 실시한 교사들의 느낀 점과 어려움을 바탕으로 소프트웨어 교육 활성화를 위한 개선방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 연구를 위해 2019년 초등학교에서 소프트웨어 교육을 담당한 교사 96명을 대상으로 개인 역량, 수업 운영 방식, 교과서 및 교육자료, 수업 운영 내용, 교육환경과 관련하여 36개의 문항으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며 그 중 3명을 대상으로 면담을 실시하였다. 그 결과 교육 시설과 환경 개선, 양질의 수업자료 개발 및 보급 활성화, 교사 대상의 참여형 연수와 교사 동아리 지원 확대 등의 개선사항이 필요함을 확인하였다.

미디어역량 모델개발을 위한 기초 연구 (Basic Study for Developing Media Competency Model)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 생애 전 영역에서 활용가능한 문화역량모델 개발을 논의하고 학교교육, 평생교육, 기업교육 분야에서 적용할 수 있는 미디어 분야의 문화역량모델을 개발하는데 있었다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 문헌고찰 및 미디어 분야의 고성과자를 대상으로 한 패널 워크숍, 전문가 검증 등을 실시하여 문화역량을 구명하고, 이를 바탕으로 미디어 분야의 문화역량모델을 개발하였다. 그 결과 미디어 분야에서 달성해야할 핵심성과를 도출하였는데, 이는 업무의 효율성 증대, 창의적 기획 가능, 미디어 환경 변화, 사회문화에 대한 이해 및 참여 증대, 관계능력 향상, 자기성찰의 기회 증대, 자기만족과 같다. 이러한 핵심성과를 달성하는데 요구되는 문화역량은 62개가 구명되었으며, 각 역량에 대한 역량정의와 행동지표를 도출하여 최종적인 미디어 분야의 문화역량모델을 제시하였다.
