Values of Infographics for Promoting Cultural Learning Resources and Tourist Attractions: A Case of Patum Village in Thailand

  • Infographics are influential and valuable communication tools for providing information, and can be used for promoting cultural learning resources and cultural tourism destinations. Therefore, this article presents values of using infographics for promoting Patum's culture and tourism in Phrao District, Chiang Mai, Thailand as cultural learning resources and tourist attractions. Employing a research and development approach, this study utilized three distinct instruments: (1) an interview form engaging 40 locals to uncover insights on promoting Patum village, (2) an assessment form evaluated by three arts and design experts, and (3) questionnaires distributed to 92 participants to gauge perceptions and satisfaction. The findings showcased the high quality and appropriateness of the eight infographics. Audiences derived six key values, including acquiring knowledge, fostering the promotion of Patum's culture, festivals, religions and beliefs, deriving aesthetic enjoyment, encouraging cultural tourism, contributing to the education sector, and enhancing comprehension of Patum's history. Participants expressed high satisfaction ($\bar{x}$=4.46) with the infographic use. The developed infographics are usable and valuable information to help audiences recognize Patum cultural learning resources and tourist destinations. They might be further tailored to the recognition of Patum village in the near future, affecting the area's development by increasing local people's incomes through cultural learning resources and tourism activities.

The current state and prospects of travel business development under the COVID-19 pandemic

  • The relevance of this scientific research is determined by the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the current trends and dynamics of world tourism development. This article aims to identify patterns of development of the modern tourist market, analysis of problems and prospects of development in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Materials and methods. General scientific methods and methods of research are used in the work: analysis, synthesis, comparison, analysis of statistical data. The analysis of the viewpoints of foreign and domestic authors on the research of the international tourist market allowed us to substantiate the actual directions of tourism development due to the influence of negative factors connected with the spread of a new coronavirus infection COVID-19. Economic-statistical, abstract-logical, and economic-mathematical methods of research were used during the process of study and data processing. Results. The analysis of the current state of the tourist market by world regions was carried out. It was found that tourism is one of the most affected sectors from COVID-19, as, by the end of 2020, the total number of tourist arrivals in the world decreased by 74% compared to the same period in 2019. The consequence of this decline was a loss of total global tourism revenues by the end of 2020, which equaled $1.3 trillion. 27% of all destinations are completely closed to international tourism. At the end of 2020, the economy of international tourism has shrunk by about 80%. In 2020 the world traveled 98 million fewer people (-83%) relative to the same period last year. Tourism was hit hardest by the pandemic in the Asia-Pacific region, where travel restrictions are as strict as possible. International arrivals in this region fell by 84% (300 million). The Middle East and Africa recorded declines of 75 and 70 percent. Despite a small and short-lived recovery in the summer of 2020, Europe lost 71% of the tourist flow, with the European continent recording the largest drop in absolute terms compared with 2019, 500 million. In North and South America, foreign arrivals declined. It is revealed that a significant decrease in tourist flows leads to a massive loss of jobs, a sharp decline in foreign exchange earnings and taxes, which limits the ability of states to support the tourism industry. Three possible scenarios of exit of the tourist industry from the crisis, reflecting the most probable changes of monthly tourist flows, are considered. The characteristics of respondents from Ukraine, Germany, and the USA and their attitude to travel depending on gender, age, education level, professional status, and monthly income are presented. About 57% of respondents from Ukraine, Poland, and the United States were planning a tourist trip in 2021. Note that people with higher or secondary education were more willing to plan such a trip. The results of the empirical study confirm that interest in domestic tourism has increased significantly in 2021. The regression model of dependence of the number of domestic tourist trips on the example of Ukraine with time tendency (t) and seasonal variations (Turˆt = 7288,498 - 20,58t - 410,88∑5) it forecast for 2020, which allows stabilizing the process of tourist trips after the pandemic to use this model to forecast for any country. Discussion. We should emphasize the seriousness of the COVID-19 pandemic and the fact that many experts and scientists believe in the long-term recovery of the tourism industry. In our opinion, the governments of the countries need to refocus on domestic tourism and deal with infrastructure development, search for new niches, formats, formation of new package deals in new - domestic - segment (new products' development (tourist routes, exhibitions, sightseeing programs, special rehabilitation programs after COVID) -19 in sanatoriums, etc.); creation of individual offers for different target audiences). Conclusions. Thus, the identified trends are associated with a decrease in the number of tourist flows, the negative impact of the pandemic on employment and income from tourism activities. International tourism needs two to four years before it returns to the level of 2019.

농촌체험마을의 관광자원 해설인력의 행태분석 (A Study on Rural Interpreter's Behaviors and Needs in Rural Tourism Villages)

  • This research focuses on rural interpreter's behaviors and needs in rural tourism village around country. Although it happens that many farm tourism guides are accomplished in rural tourism village, but significant interest on this topic has not been identified yet. Therefore the primary objective of this study lies in identifying rural interpreter's behaviors and needs who is active play in rural tourism village. The study was conducted in a small rural community where tourism is still at its emerging stage. It was found that rural interpreter played active role by studying about rural culture and farm interpret for himself. But they was pointed out multifarious activities with various rural experience guide, and they used reality in the process of the interpret, but not village history. farm tourism guides demanded their expertise or special ability.

Stone weirs in Penghu and adaption to tourism development

  • The ancient fishing methods include stone fish weir, beach seine and baulk net, but the fish catches of the stone fish weir is the most abundant. The stone fish weirs not only constitute important landscape, but also are representative of the fishery culture in Penghu, because they are fishing ground built by ancient people to take advantage of natural environment and resources. The objectives of this study is to understand the relevance of stone fish weirs in Penghu and to preserve biological diversity, as well as the value of stone fish weirs in Penghu fishery culture, and further make suggestions on the stone fish weirs. According to the present study, the marine species around the stone fish weirs tend to be diversifying, and in the future the region's economy can be revitalized by sightseeing, which may promote the ecotourism, and also volunteer tourism. In the future, stone fish weirs must be promoted as a sightseeing destination. Also, by taking into consideration the experience of the Jibei stone weir protection team, the local communities of Penghu can have their own protection team to revitalize the stone fish weirs for sustainable operation and management.

경기 북부지역의 관광자원으로서 향토음식에 대한 고찰 (A Report on Utilizing Local Food as Tourism Resource of Northern Gyong-gi Province)

  • Gyong-gi province has been the political, social, economical center of Korea since the three Kingdom period, Koryo, Chosun dynasty. As a result, the area enjoys abundant local food culture. However, due to the truce line going through the province, it was divided into northern and southern region. Development of the northern Gyong-gi province has been restricted because of security and defence reasons. So, even though it has kept abundant local food heritage compared to other regions. local food products have not been fully developed. Furthermore, as bed towns of Seoul and new towns are constructed in this region, traditional and local culture has been vanished gradually and the regional uniqueness is disappearing. This report focuses on identifying unique local foods of northern Gyong-gj province where tourist site development is limited and finding out how to utilize these as international tourism resource in the 21$\^$th/ century, the era of reunified Korea. Now, we need to seek ways to overcome the current difficulties and utilize the heritage of food culture and develop It in a form that suits the taste of modern consumers.

  • 본 연구는 스마트글라스(SmartGlass)를 통해 실감미디어를 접목시키고 합리적인 기술들을 접목시켜 단순하였던 1차원적인 보드게임 콘텐츠의 아쉬웠던 점을 보완할 수 있다는 점과 스마트글라스를 통해 한가지 게임만 가능하였던 보드게임 콘텐츠에 다양한 게임을 제안할 수 있으며 광고, 홍보 접목을 통해 보드게임, 관광기념품의 역할과 관광홍보를 진행이 가능하고, 교육 체험서비스 및 부족한 관광홍보 콘텐츠를 실감미디어를 통해 가능하다는 결론을 도출하였다. 콘텐츠 개발은 예산 절감과 최소한의 공간에서 서비스가 가능하다는 점을 알 수 있었는데 그 장점으로 해당 콘텐츠를 고객이 생략하거나 재 반복이 가능하다는 점에서 교육콘텐츠로서도 완성도가 높으며. MZ세대에도 흥미로운 스마트글라스를 이용한 보드게임이 될 수 있을것으로 기대한다.

제주 관광객의 향토음식 섭취의사 및 관광 상품화를 위한 의견조사 (Tourists' Intentions to Consume Jeju's Local Foods and Opinions for Tourism Resource Development)

  • According to the definition of 'native local food', Jeju has combined its regional specialty products with its own cooking method. It has almost four-hundred kinds, which reflects regional specialty and diversity, yet it is not very well-known. Thus, this present study provides basic research information through the investigation of tourist awareness, intention to consume, drawbacks, development necessity and direction of development of Jeju local foods. The survey was conducted with 295 domestic tourists who had visited Jeju in the last 10 years. In response to a question asked about the consciousness of Jeju local foods, 67.8% of respondents chose average, indicating a relatively high cause for concern. Intention to consume averaged 3.26, which was higher than tourist awareness, having an average of 2.60. Furthermore, local food interest and demographic characteristics of respondents were found to have an influence on tourist awareness and intention to consume. 87.8% of respondents answered above average with respect to the drawbacks of Jeju's local foods and development necessity and direction, with the main drawbacks being lack of PR (43.1%) and high price (39.0%). The priority of most respondents was the quality and taste of the food (50.8%). Based on the results of this study, if tourist awareness can be effectively increased, an escalation in intent to consume will follow, naturally promoting the consumption of Jeju's local foods. Consequentially, for tourism commercialization, the quality and taste of the foods have to be improved in addition to the gain in popularity through efficient PR methods.

녹색농촌 조성사업의 정책과제와 발전방향 (Policy Issues and Directions for Developing Green Tourism)

  • Several policy measures related to green tourism have been enforced from 2001 by Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF). Rural Development Administration(RDA). Ministry of Environment(ME) and Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs(MGAHA). These have to be introduced and managed of their own accord and autonomously. Also, the rural community that has been promoting green tourism must be harmonized with its natural environment, namely natural scenery and rural culture, which provide urban residents with amenity and rurality. So green tourism had better be based on environmental-friendly agriculture because it offers safe foods and areas, many creatures to see and play around. To manage green tourism sustainable, it if important for rural and urban residents to come into close relation and to trade in organic products each other. Lastly, the region bounds in green tourism have to be expanded into county(Gun) unit.

  • 본 연구는 근대문화유산관련 호텔을 연구하기 위하여 첫째, 문헌분석을 통한 역사적 접근을 시도하여 근대호텔 발전사를 정립하였다. 둘째, 대불호텔 복원관련 자료와 관계자의 인터뷰를 통해 관광산업적 활용사례를 조사하여 관광산업적 활용방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 근대호텔 복원을 위한 관광산업적 활성화 방안을 제시하면 첫째, 각 지역의 근대문화유산의 근대호텔 복원계획은 철저한 당위성 검토와 콘텐츠 개발계획으로 이루어져야 한다. 둘째, 각 지역의 근대호텔 복원은 지자체의 행정적 관리체계 구축과 의지가 있어야 한다. 셋째, 근대호텔 복원은 역사적 의미와 가치가 있는 것으로 각 지역의 관광활성화 기여 및 경제적 효과, 고용촉진 등에 기여할 수 있는 사업으로 추진되어야 한다. 넷째, 근대호텔 복원에 대한 지속적·적극적 홍보 수단 마련이 필요하다.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 첫째, 지속가능한 관광개발 및 근대문화유산의 복원과정 갈등에 관한 이론을 정립하고자 한다. 둘째, 문헌연구를 통해 연구모형을 설정하고, 개발주체인 지방정부(인천 중구청)와 지역주민을 대상으로 인식의 차이를 분석한다. 셋째, 분석결과를 바탕으로 근대호텔 복원사업 시 지속가능한 관광개발을 위한 갈등관리 전략을 제시하고자 한다. 분석결과를 바탕으로 갈등관리 전략을 제시하면 첫째, 근대문화유산 복원사업 전 지속가능한 관광개발에 대한 개발주체와 지역주민 간의 지향 목표가 동일한 지 확인하는 절차가 필요하다. 둘째, 근대문화유산 복원사업 시 지속가능한 관광개발 지표 중 우선순위 항목에 대한 의견조율이 필요하다. 셋째, 근대문화유산 복원사업에서는 지역주민의 인식 전환보다는 개발주체의 인식전환이 우선시 되어야 한다. 넷째, 근대문화유산 복원 사업에서 개발주체는 지역주민이 만족할 만한 대안을 찾기 위한 노력으로 지속적인 대화와 타협을 시도해야 한다. 다섯째 근대문화유산 복원사업 시에는 개발주체와 지역주민 간의 의견차이가 가장 큰 '의사조정' 부분에 특히 관심을 두고 집중하는 것이 효과적일 것이다.
