  • Nowadays, most of exhibits are material antiquities while the exhibit of intangible cultural heritage is deficient and the form is less advanced which cannot meet the exhibition needs of digital times. This has resulted in insufficient display of intangible heritage's value which may not facilitate inherit and protection of intangible heritage, no other than protection mechanism of forming healthy industrialization. This article has established digital exhibition mode in museum about intangible cultural heritage by analysis on current museum and using mobile communication and augmented reality techniques. Discuss the mode in the layer integrating creative industry and mobile industry and provide practicable reference project of forming the healthy industrialization mechanism for protecting intangible heritage.

  • As a leading institution for conservation science in Korea, the National Museum of Korea (NMK) has conducted diverse efforts in this field through conservation treatment, analysis, research, and other relevant affairs over the past four decades. However, conservation science at the NMK has been facing difficulties due to insufficient human resources for handling its extensive collection, decrepit equipment, an expanding number of requests for support from other institutions, and increasing calls for enhancing its functions. In view of these challenges, this study diagnosed the current situation and examined the functions required in order to suggest plans for the development of conservation science at the NMK. In this regard, it reviewed current activities at the museum and conducted case studies of overseas institutions to propose five functions to be enhanced or introduced at the NMK. First, the NMK should refine the existing functions of conservation treatment and enhance its support for conservation science. In addition, it is recommended to introduce and develop advanced analysis and diagnosis involving valuations, conservation environment management to counter climate change, and content-based digital conservation/restoration. The functional enhancements and introduction of the new functions as described above would help the NMK develop into a leading center for conservation science in Asia.

  • It is used for the epoxy resin, a mixture of various fillers conservation of cracks of the stone cultural heritage. Such as conservation treatment is need to for long-term conservation. However, field research and experiments on the conservation treatment results when included 54 cases of talc filler was confirmed that the damage, such as discoloration and cracks. The field research is talc was used to determine whether the reports and conservator interviews conducted, microscopy, ICP analysis of the samples collected from the field site. Experiments is color difference measurement and Ultrasonic measurement were arried out, and artificial weathering tests to investigate the effect of talc. As a result, lower the property of matter of the samples containing the talc. Therefore, we propose that the selection process is not allowed to use talc as the filler of stone powder filler cracks is conservation treatment.

  • The World Heritage Committee decided to make "cultural landscapes" a world heritage category in the 16th Session of the UNESCO General Conference. The decision was made from a recognition of the importance of interactions between human beings and the natural environment or between cultural heritage and natural heritage. Many countries have created policies and institutions to protect their own cultural landscapes along with the changing times. Korea, however, has not obviously defined the concepts and categories of its cultural landscapes, but manages policies and institutions based on the concept of a scenic spot, which has some similar meanings. In addition, it even borrows the "list of landscape adjectives," one of the representative methods for managing landscapes, from foreign countries. With this background, this paper suggested how to define cultural landscapes according to the global development flow. It created a list of cultural landscape adjectives by gathering the adjectives that can properly express local cultural landscapes in Korea. In particular, it collected 4,556 articles from a local newspaper by focusing on the case of Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, and analyzed key words and adjectives included in them by using big data analysis. The results suggested by this paper, such as the "classification table of cultural landscape types," "list of cultural landscape adjectives" and "network map of nouns/adjectives" can be applied to research on other localities, and furthermore, used as basic data for finding and protecting the characteristics of local cultural landscapes in Korea.

  • In the field of cultural heritage, for the purpose of its preservation and restoration, cultural heritage has been recorded using three-dimensional (3D) digital technology. However, these 3D digital records are a large-scale digital record produced through complicated steps from point cloud data acquisition to 3D model production, and long-term preservation problems cannot be avoided. With international discussions are ongoing, this study looks into the preservation direction of the cultural heritage 3D digital records based on precedent research and case analysis.

  • Biological damages of wooden cultural properties are closely related to the preservation of the environment; these damages can be accelerated because of rapid climate change. Therefore, to preserve cultural properties, it is important to understand environmental characteristics. This study aims to investigate the status of termite damage and the characteristics of major environmental factors such as micro-meteorology, meso-meteorology, and local-meteorology of the Josadang shrine in the Seonamsa temple at Suncheon. Damage was confirmed by visual observation and the response of the termite detection dog at the north-west corner. Also another damage was observed by the termite detection dog at the north-east corner. These pillars had lower surface temperature and higher moisture content compared with the pillars in the front. The mean temperature of the entire time was similar for the meteorologies; however, the relative humidity differed. High relative humidity, greater than 70%, was observed frequently. In particular, it was determined that the termite activity days were the most inside the Josadang shrine. The statistical analysis confirmed that there was a difference between the meteorology events through the F ratio. In addition, the difference of environmental factors with relative humidity and temperature was identified more great difference in relative humidity through the t-statistics of temperature and relative humidity. And then relative humidity was confirmed most great in the difference of meso-meteorology and local-meteorology.

  • We have investigated chemical properties of the pigments and carried out the deterioration diagnosis using nondestructive techniques of the wall painting in Yaksajeon Hall of Gwanyongsa Temple. As the results of pigments analysis, it was unusual that the cobalt was detected in the blue and green colors used to traditional paint background. According to the deterioration diagnosis, ultrasonic measurement and infrared thermography, dominant cracks and exfoliation caused by high content of moisture. Therefore, it should be devised effective plan to prevent penetration of water for the long term this wall painting.

  • We carried out monitoring of deterioration condition for the Rock-carved Buddha Triad in Seosan after dismantlement of protective facilities and conservation treatment. As the results of ultrasonic velocity measurement, physical properties of rock were evaluated to maintain similar the past. Result of digital image analysis, white discoloration was reoccured after four years of conservation treatments. And biodeterioration of unknown in the past was generated left side on the Rock-carved Buddha. Phenomenon of biodeterioration on the surface rocks was estimated by variation of sunshine and water contents according to topography condition.
