배추 재배에 이용되는 농업용수의 미생물 오염도 조사 및 이화학성분 분석 (Investigation of Microbiological and Physiochemical Quality for Irrigation Water used in Napa Cabbage Cultivation)

  • 본 연구는 국내 배추 주산단지 5지역을 대상으로 배추재배에 활용되는 농업용수를 각 지역의 수확 시기에 채취하여 위생지표세균(총대장균군, 대장균, 장구균)과 이화학 성분을 분석함으로써 농업용수의 수질의 오염도를 조사하기 위하여 수행되었다. 그 결과 지하수 보다 지표수에서 위생지표세균이 높은 수준으로 검출되었다. 지표수의 경우 총대장균군 1.96-4.96 log MPN/100 mL, 지하수의 경우 0-3.98 log MPN/100 mL 수준이었다. 장구균의 경우 지표수에서 95% (72/75), 지하수에서 22% (8/36) 빈도로 검출되었으며, 대장균의 경우 지표수에서 100% (72/75), 지하수에서 22% (8/36) 빈도로 검출되었다. 위생지표세균과 이화학성분의 상관관계를 조사한 결과, 지표수의 경우 대장균군과 대장균은 총인과 상관성을 보였으며, 장구균은 부유물질과 생물학적산소요구량에 상관성을 보였다. 지하수의 경우 위생지표세균은 부유물질과 화학적산소요구량에 상관성을 보였다. 본 연구의 결과는 엽채류 재배에 사용되는 농업용수의 미생물 기준을 설정하기 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

  • 본 연구는 재배 환경에 민감한 식물인 천궁에 대해 온도 및 이산화탄소 인공환경을 조성하여 재배 기간 중 성장 지표 및 항산화 활성을 확인함으로써, 약용식물의 재배 환경과 성장 및 생리활성의 상호작용 이해를 위한 데이터 확보를 목적으로 하였다. 천궁의 재배지 평균 기온을 기준으로 +1.8℃/445 ppm(SSP1), +3.6℃/872 ppm(SSP3) 및 +4.4℃/1,142 ppm(SSP5)의 3개 그룹으로 나누어 자연광형 정밀환경조절장치(SPDS 챔버)를 활용해 4개월 동안 재배하였다. 천궁의 지상부 생장 및 Top/Root ratio, 엽중비(LWR)는 SSP1에 비해 SSP3과 SSP5에서 다소 감소하였으며, 뿌리중비(RWR)는 증가하였다. 또한, 식물의 항산화 활성 및 관련 페놀 화합물 함량은 천궁의 지상부에서 온도 및 CO2 농도에 비례하여 증가하였으나, 오히려 고농도인 SSP5 그룹에서 부정적인 효과가 나타났고, 지하부에서는 SSP5 그룹에서 가장 높은 항산화 활성을 보이는 것을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 약용식물의 생장 및 생리활성에 대해 최적의 재배 환경 조건을 결정하기 위한 기초 데이터로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

황산염환원균을 이용한 폐광폐수의 중금속 제거 (Removal of Heavy Metals from Acid Mine Drainage Using Sulfate Reducing Bacteria)

  • SRB(Sulfate Reducing Bacteria) converts sulfate into sulfide using an organic carbon source as the electron donor. The sulfide formed precipitates the various metals present in the AMD (Acid Mine Drainage). This study is the fundamental research on heavy metal removal from AMD using SRB. Two completely mixed anaerobic reactors were operated for cultivation of SRB at the temperature of $30^{\circ}C$ and anaerobic batch reactors were used to evaluate the effects of carbon source, COD/sulfate($SO_4^=$) ratio and alkalinity on sulfate reduction rate and heavy metal removal efficiency. AMD used in this study was characterized by low pH 3.0 and 1000mg/l of sulfate and dissolved high concentration of heavy metals such as iron, cadmium, copper, zinc and lead. It was found that glucose was an organic carbon source better than acetate as the electron donor of SRB for sulfate reduction in AMD. Amount of sulfate reduction maximized at the COD(glucose)/sulfate ratio of 0.5 in the influent and then removal efficiencies of heavy metals were 97.5% of Cu, 100% of Pb, 100% of Cr, 49% of Mn, 98% of Zn, 100% Cd and 92.4% of Fe. Although sulfate reduction results in an increase in the alkalinity of the reactor, alkalinity of 1000mg/1 (as $CaCo_3$) should be should be added continuously to the anaerobic reactor in order to remove heavy metals from AMD.

  • The chapter holds great importance in understanding the fundamental aspect of disease occurrence, for it contains key concepts of disease of Naegyeong medicine. For this reason, prominent doctors from Jang Gyeong-ak(張景岳) of Ming to Lee Gyujun (李奎晙) of late Josun have based their Yang Gi-centered medical theories on this chapter. However, doctors such as Ju Jinhyeong(朱震亨) who have stressed the importance of Eum, also used the contents of this chapter to support their perspective on disease, which means that the main voice of this chapter is still unclear. Based on the previous chapter, it is valid to say that uses the Eum-Yang Body-Function Perspective(陰陽體用觀) to establish the fundamentals of life and parallels the uniqueness of each kind of Gi, Eum and Yang, in leading Gi activity in mankind. This philosophy based on the uniqueness of the activity of Eum/Yang Gi expands its target from human to disease in general, becoming actualized as a theory of external/internal body-function perspective. Cultivation methods based on this uniqueness is also being suggested.

  • Recently food problem and crop disaster have been increased continuously because of the meteorological changes. These cause rising cost for crops continuously and irregularly. Some researchers have studied straight structure of device for hydroponics and plant factory previously to solve a fundamental part of these problems. However, there are several problems such as limited crop cultivation space, providing irregular nutrients for crops, and lack of monitoring interfaces. For them, we propose an optimal growth and development crops management system using light source tracking and recirculation of nutrient solution method to supply nutrient continuously based on IoT. In order to evaluate the performance of our system, we compared and analyzed in terms of two viewpoints, the tracking analysis for natural light source measurement and the growth of crops through artificial light, LED, respectively. We confirmed that the higher the duty ratio of LED, the larger the crop's size, particularly. As well as, for about 1 month, we compared with the existing natural light growing environment and that of our system. It was confirmed that the size of the crops grown through our system is about three times larger than that of natural light natural crops.

Psychrophilic Extremophiles from Antarctica: Biodiversity and Biotechnological Potential

  • Recently there has been a rapid accumulation of knowledge of microbial life in cold and frozen ecosystems. This understanding has revealed the extensive diversity of psychrophilic prokaryotes. Cultivation-based and molecular-based surveys have been performed in Antarctic habitats ranging from glacial ice to continental shelf sediments. Results indicate that psychrophilic taxa permeate throughout the Bacteria while they represent a more mysterious element of diversity in the Archaea owing to a notable lack of cultured strains. In certain cold climate ecosystems the diversity of psychrophilic populations reach levels comparable to the richest temperate equivalents. Within these communities must exist tremendous genetic diversify that is potentially of fundamental and of practical value. So far this genetic pool has been hardly explored. Only recently have genomic data become available for various psychrophilic prokaryotes and more is required. This owes to the fact that psychrophilic microbes possess manifold mechanisms for cold adaptations, which not only Provide enhanced survival and Persistence but Probably also contributes to niche specialisation. These mechanisms, including cold-active and ice-active proteins, polyunsaturated lipids and exopolysaccharides also have a great interest to biotechnologists.

웹 기반 프로젝트의 교육적 활용을 위한 설계 (A Design of Web-Based Project for Education)

  • 웹의 교육적 활용은 학생의 흥미 유발 및 자발적 참여와 아울러 시공간의 제약을 넘어 최신의 정보를 얻을 수 있다는 장점으로 최근 교육 기관으로부터 많은 관심을 끌고 있다. 웹의 자료를 검색하여 원하는 정보를 찾아 교육에 활용하기 위한 연구가 다방변에서 진행되고 있다. 웹 자료의 단순한 활용에서 한 차원 높여 보다 조직적이고 통합적인 웹 기반 프로젝트에 대해 소개한다. 웹 기반 프로젝트의 특징은 프로젝트의 주제에 대한 폭 넓은 경험, 통합 교과교육, 창의성 개발, 협동심 배양, 세계화 교육 등을 꼽을 수 있다. 본 논문은 웹을 기반으로하는 프로젝트의 운영에 대한 개념을 설명하고 그 특성을 살려 어떠한 분야에 활용 할 것인지 논의하고 웹 프로젝트 설계의 기본 구조를 제안한다.

  • Future war needs a lot of changes for military organization. Specially, concept of the "Speed" is raised importantly after Iraq war of U.S. Armed Forces. So, He is a lot of studying supply chain for logistical support speed improvement. Korea Marine Corps has made an efforts to improve supply chain. However it is real that is putting various techniques by prescription rather than fundamental change. These simplicity prescriptions are not only systematic but also insufficient for Marine Corps' survival. In addition, Korea marine corps in actuality is depending on many members in marine and navy in feed chain. Thus it is not establishing even tactical, decision-making plan of operation for support ability cultivation. Therefore, in this study, with Sense and Response concept that is United States Marine Corps' support strategy, presented theoretical background and basis frame that serve that Korea Marine Corps's supply chain changes to perception reaction formation.

  • According to Mead's (1934) symbolic interaction theory, social roles are learned through interaction and experiences in everyday life. Over time, these rules of behavior become internalized and serve to structure one's actions accordingly. Ultimately, these rules provide us with a powerful means of controlling our actions, and in time, they define our identity. Transforming the socialization process is one's conscious interpretation of stimuli through the use of symbols. Furthermore, society's perceptual processes can be shaped by the symbols we learn. The meaning of symbols can be learned from a variety of social influences, one of which may be mediated messages and advertising. This paper attempts to establish a link between media exposure and one's perception of social reality regarding character judgments made of unknown others based on the target's product or brand usage. Using magazine advertisements for fictitious products, the experiment herein seeks to establish two fundamental goals: 1) to determine if perceptions can be manipulated via association with companion symbolic elements: and 2) to detect whether television exposure is a moderating factor. Respondents were asked their perceptions of both product quality and of product users.

Bipolar Heterothallism, a Principal Mating System of Cordyceps militaris In Vitro

  • Interest in in vitro study of entomopathogenic fungi, including Cordyceps species, has been increasing due to their valuable bioactive compounds and biocontrol effects. Among Cordyceps species, in vitro stromata of C militaris has been successfully produced and cultivated for industrial purposes. However, genetic study on in vitro stromata formation of C militaris has not been carried out yet. Here, relationship between mating system and perithecial stromata formation of C militaris is reported. Mating system was determined by observing perithecial stromata formation from mono-ascospore cultures and their pair-wise combinations. Certain combinations of mono-ascospore strains produced perithecial club-shaped stromata, whereas other combinations produced either no stromata or only abnormal non-perithecial stromata. Similarly, mono­ascospore cultures without combination produced either no stromata or only abnormal non­perithecial stromata. Despite obvious heterothallism, self-fertility was occasionally observed in few strains of C militaris. These observations indicated that C militaris behaves as a bipolar het­erothallic fungus and requires two mating compatible strains in order to produce regular club­shaped perithecial stromata, a fundamental requirement for its industrial cultivation.
