Oscillator Strengths and Intensity Parameters of Ln(III) Complexes with 12-Crown-4 and 15-Crown-5 Ethers in Acetonitrile (Ln = Ho and Er)

  • The absorption spectra of holmium nitrate and erbium nitrate and the difference absorption spectra of their complexes with crown ethers were measured in acetonitrile. The crown ethers used in this study are 12-crown-4 and 15-crown-5. The oscillator strengths for the 4f→4f multiplet-to-multiplet transitions are empirically determined from the absorption spectra in combination with the difference spectra. The intensity parameters Ωλ (λ=2, 4, 6) for the systems are also evaluated by applying the Judd-Ofelt theorem to the observed oscillator strengths. The values of the intensity parameters are compared and discussed to investigate the sensitivity of the intensity parameters to the ligand environment.

  • Crown ether류인 dibenzo-18-crown-건를 carn­e er로 이용하여 액체막을 통해서의 금속이온의 이동 량을 picric acid의 absorbance를 ultraviolet spec trometer로 측정하여 평가하였다. 그 결과 dibenzo 18-crown-6에 의한 금속이온의 이동은 2가 금속이 온이 l가 금속이온 보다도 더 컷다. 이것은 이 계에 서는 이들 금속이온의 크기보다도 이온의 전하와 수 화(hydration)의 영향을 받았다. 이것은 18-crown-6가 $Ca^{2+}$이온과 같은 2가 이온의 수송에 적합하다 는 것을 의미한다. 또한 dibenzo-18-cro뻐-6에 의 한 이온의 수송은 이온의 선택성을 갖지 않고 이온을 포착할 수 있는 능력을 갖는 것이 좋은 것으로 확인되였다.

Cesium separation from radioactive waste by extraction and adsorption based on crown ethers and calixarenes

  • Cesium is a major product of uranium fission, which is the most commonly existed radionuclide in radioactive wastes. Various technologies have been applied to separate radioactive cesium from radioactive wastes, such as chemical precipitation, solvent extraction, membrane separation and adsorption. Crown ethers and calixarenes derivatives can selectively coordinate with cesium ions by ion-dipole interaction or cation-π interaction, which are promising extractants for cesium ions due to their promising coordinating structure. This review systematically summarized and analyzed the recent advances in the crown ethers and calixarenes derivatives for cesium separation, especially focusing on the adsorbents based on extractants for cesium removal from aqueous solution, such as the grafting coordinating groups (e.g. crown ether and calixarenes) and coordinating polymers (e.g. MOFs) due to their unique coordination ability and selectivity for cesium ions. These adsorbents combined the advantages of extraction and adsorption methods and showed high adsorption capacity for cesium ions, which are promising for cesium separation The key restraints for cesium separation, as well as the newest progress of the adsorbents for cesium separation were also discussed. Finally, some concluding remarks and suggestions for future researches were proposed.

  • A study is reported about the synthesis processes of various silacrown ether by the reaction of alkoxysilanes with polyethylene glycols (PEG) through transesterification. Crown ether-functionalized carbosilane dendrimers and hybrid crown ethers are also discussed. We will also address the solubility enhancement, phase-transfer catalysis of different silacrown as well as their application as Ion-selective electrodes (ISEs) and as active phase of PVC electrodes for the development of potentiometric sensors for detection of alkali-Ions.

  • New types of lariat type crown ethers containing peptide sidearms were prepared by using a novel strategy employing single electron transfer (SET)-induced photocyclization reactions of $\alpha$-silylether terminated phthalimides. Reactions of chiral substrates in this series produced diastereomeric mixtures of crown ether products as a result of the formation of new stereogenic center generation in the photocyclization process.

  • 실옥산 사슬과 크라운 에테르가 연결된 유연성이 큰 2가지 새로운 비스-크라운 에테르를 합성하였다. 1,3-Bis(trimethylsiloxy)-1,3-dimethyl-1,3-dipentaoxacyclohexadecamethyl disiloxane(1)는 백금촉매 존재하에서 3-methylene-16-crown-5 (8)과 1,3-bis(trimethylsiloxy)-1,3-dimethyl disiloxane (10)의 반응에 의해 합성하였다. 1,1,3,3,5,5-Hexamethyl-1,5-dipentaoxacyclohexadecamethyl trisiloxane (2)은 백금촉매 존재하에서 crown ether (8)과 1,1,3,3,5,5-hexamethyl trisiloxane (11)의 반응에 의해 합성하였다. 3-Methylene-13-crown-4 (7), 3-methylene-16-crown-5 (8), 및 3-methylene-19-crown-6 (9)은 NaH 존재하에서 triethylene glycol (3), tetraethylene glycol (4), 및 pentaethylene glycol (5)을 각각 3-chloro-2-chloro-methyl-1-propene (6)와 반응시켜서 합성하였다.

  • In order to synthesize N,N-di-(polyoxyethylene) perfluoroacyl amines and the surface active monoperfluoroacyl aza crown ethers, it is performed as follow. Six of N,N-di(polyoxyethylene) perfluoro acyl amines were synthesized from perfluoroalkanoic acids with ethanol followed by oxyethylation with triethylene glycol mono chloride or tetra ethylene glycol mono chloride and six of N-perfluor acyl monoaza crown ethers by cyclization of corresponding N,N-di(polyoxy ethylene} perfluoro acyl amines with p-toluene suflonic chloride-NaOH/dioxane, p-toluene sulfonyl chloride KOH/dioxane and benzene sulfonic chloride-KOH/dioxane systems.

  • (Allyloxy)methyl-Crown Ether를 액체막계에서 금속이온의 운반체로 사용하였다. 운반체로 사용한 AMDT18C6는 경쟁이동반응에서 Pd(II)를 선택적으로 분리하였으며 AM18C6는 Pb(II)의 선택성이 있었다. 거대고리리간드와 금속이온과의 착물형성에 관한 연구는 전위차법과 용액열량계법을 이용하였다.

Development and Application of Crown Ether-based HPLC Chiral Stationary Phases

  • Crown ether-based HPLC chiral stationary phases (CSPs) have been successfully utilized in the resolution of various racemic compounds containing a primary amino group. Especially, CSPs based on chiral crown ethers incorporating chiral binaphthyl unit or tartaric acid unit and based on phenolic pseudo chiral crown ethers have shown high chiral recognition efficiency. In this account paper, a review on the development of crown etherbased HPLC CSPs, their structural characteristics and applications to the resolution of racemic compounds including chiral drugs containing a primary or secondary amino group with the variation of the type and the content of mobile phase components and with the variation of the column temperature is presented.

Synthesis and fluorescent property investigation of novel fluoroionophores

  • Novel fluoroionophore of dibenzothiazolyl-dibenzo-crown ethers were synthesized from diformal-dibenzo 18-crown-6 (24-crown-8) with 2-aminothiophenol, and they were characterizated by $^1H$-NMR, $^{13}C$-NMR, IR spectrum, Mass spectrum, elemental analyses, respectively. The fluorescent properties of the newly synthesized crown ether were examined with $Li^+$, $Na^+$, $K^+$, $Rb^+$, $Cs^+$, $NH_4^+$ and $CF_3COOH$, respectively. With protonation using $CF_3COOH$, the absorption bands of the new crown ethers are further blue shifted, the maximum emission wavelengths further red shifted.
