Manning's roughness coefficients for the Han River, the Nakdong River and the Geum River were determined by the hydraulic models using their field measurements. The roughness coefficients of present study were compared with the ones of the conventional references. The hydraulic models, such as HEC-2, HEC-RAS and FLDWAV models, are usually applied to a river flow analysis. In order to compute the accurate flood level with the numerical models, accurate information about river sections, the upstream and downstream boundary conditions, and the appropriate roughness coefficients are indispensable. It is hard to obtain the reasonable roughness coefficient of the river, in the other hand the river cross sectional data and the boundary conditions are relatively easy to acquire. The coefficient values from the references are applied in many applications without considering the variation of locations and discharges of the river, or the values are unreasonably estimated. The final results from this study will give a reasonable and important data to perform the flood routing in the Korea river.
This paper purports to compare the differences and similarities of social exclusions in Korea with those in the European countries, notably Germany, France, Sweden, Finland, Ireland and U.K. For this purpose, chapter two examines political and social origins of social exclusion as an alternative concept to poverty or unemployment. Chapter three discusses social exclusion paradigms of Silver(1994) in reference to welfare regime theories of Esping-Andersen(1990). Subsequently chapter four, using two artificial social exclusion indicators by principal component analysis, defines the basic nature of social exclusion of Korea in comparison with those of the six European countries. Chapter five duly concludes that social exclusions in Korea are very similar to those of liberal countries (Ireland and U.K.) in that income indicators (poverty and inequality) of Korea are much worse, whereas unemployment rate is relatively low.

Java provides support for Web, concurrent programming, safety, portability, and GUI, so there is a steady increase in the number of Java users. Java is based on the object-oriented concepts such as classes, instances, encapsulation, inheritance, and polymorphism. However the JVM(Java Virtual Machine) hides most of the phenomena related to the concepts. This is why most of Java users have much difficulty in learning and using Java. As a solution to the problem, I have developed a tool Alpha that visualizes the phenomena occurred in the JVM from the standpoint of the concepts and will describe the design and features of the tool in this paper. For practicality and extendability Alpha has an MVC(Model-View-Controller) architecture and visualizes the phenomena such as object instantiations, method invocations, field accesses, cross-references among objects, and execution flows of threads in the various ways according to the levels and purposes of the users.

For the lateral-torsional buckling analysis of the thin-walled space frame and circular arch with the unsymmetric cross section, the tangent stiffness matrices are derived by introducing Vlasov's assumption for the thin-walled beam and using the principle of virtual displacement. In the cases of the unrestrained torsion and the restrained torsion, the elastic and geometric stiffness matrices corresponding to semitangential rotation and semitangential moment are evaluated by using the Hermitian polynomials as the shape function. In order to illustrate the accuracy and convergence characteristics of the derived formulations, numerical examples for the lateral-torsional buckling analysis of the hinged circular arch under pure bending and uniform compression are presented and compared with the analytic solutions of references.
Recently in the Mongolian wireless marketplace, many E-commerce companies have been making considerable investments in the technological development of M-commerce, taking competitive advantage of new business possibilities offered by Internet-based wireless technologies. In the Mongolian wireless marketplace, this new mobile environment opens the door for new and exciting market opportunities in mobile services and applications. In the near future, these companies will be looking toward M-commerce services as a supplemental source of revenue in the mobile marketplace. This paper examines the roles of M-commerce in the consumers' in order to promote the consumers' loyalty in the booming M-commerce. This paper contains theory that focuses on the basic concepts of the M-commerce environment, its wireless network technologies, and its applications infrastructure. Upon searching for references to assist us in establishing a market hypothesis, we discovered that few comprehensive studies on consumer perspective and behavior related to M-commerce services actually exist in the literature. In the area of M-commerce, many companies neglect the consumer perspective, concentrating only on technological factors only when formulating their market strategies. And, due to technological blindness, many companies were not able to succeed in end-user E-commerce services. Given that fact, this paper formulates a consumer-centric research model. In order to prove the research model, we chose the survey method which allows for the collection of large amounts of data from a sizeable population in a highly economical way. Through the survey, this paper defines consumer's attitudes towards M-commerce services by identifying potential Business-to-Commerce(B2C) applications and its primary target groups in terms of gender and age, and by investigating whether consumers recognize the value proposition of M-commerce applications and services. As shown in the data analysis and results, this research concludes that M-commerce development in Mongolia is still at its infancy, and that the implementation of M-commerce depends not only on technological progress, but also on consumer attitudes and their willingness to adopt M-commerce services. As well, other complex cross-cultural factors-socially, economically, culturally, et cetera-enter strongly into the equation.
'Distortional buckling' is one of the predominant buckling types that may occur in a steel-concrete composite box beam (SCCBB) under a negative moment. The key factors, which affect the buckling modes, are the torsional and lateral restraints of the bottom plate of a SCCBB. Therefore, this article investigates the equivalent lateral and torsional restraint rigidity of the bottom plate of a SCCBB under a negative moment; the results of which show a linear coupling relationship between the applied forces and the lateral and/or torsional restraint stiffness, which are not depended on the cross-sectional properties of a SCCBB completely. The mathematical formulas for calculating the lateral and torsional restraint rigidity of the bottom plate can be used to estimate: (1) the critical distortional buckling stress of SCCBBs under a negative moment; and (2) the critical distortional moment of SCCBBs. This article develops an improved calculation method for SCCBBs on an elastic foundation, which takes into account the coupling effect between the applied forces and the lateral and/or torsional restraint rigidity of the bottom plate. This article analyzes the accuracy of the following calculation methods by using 24 examples of SCCBBs: (1) the conventional energy method; (2) the improved calculation method, as it has been derived in this article; and (3) the ANSYS finite element method. The results verify that the improved calculation method, as it has been proved in this article, is more accurate and reliable than that of the current energy method, which has been noted in the references.
Purpose: To identify an associations between health care workers' uniforms and health care-associated infection. Methods: Electronic databases, including Ovid-Medline, the Cochrane Library, CINAHL, EMBASE, KMbase, and KoreaMed, were searched. The search terms included doctor, nurse, health care worker/staff/assistant, clothing, (white) gown, uniform, (neck)tie, and attire. Only papers published in English and Korean were included. Results: 16 studies were selected from 1,900 references screened. All of the studies were non-comparative studies except for one. Four were conducted with doctors, six with nurses, one with health care workers including physiotherapists and one for medical staff plus visitors in a neonatal intensive care unit. Doctors more frequently changed their uniforms than neckties; therefore, the degree of contamination was more serious in neckties. The cuff zone was more likely to be heavily contaminated than other areas of long-sleeve gowns. Coats become contaminated quickly once worn, and colony counts reached a similar level within the first few hours after wearing them. Wearing a plastic apron or protective clothing did not prevent the bacterial contamination of nurses' uniforms, and the best way to decrease the contamination was changing to newly laundered uniforms before starting every duty. Conclusion: Healthcare workers' uniforms are a potential source of health care-associated infection although there was no robust evidence. The government must establish standards for laundering of uniforms or a requirement for institutions to provide a laundering service for healthcare workers' uniforms.
Purpose: The study was conducted to describe body shapes of school age children using the degree of obesity index (DOI) and body mass index obesity index classified by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (M-BOI) and Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education (S-BOI). Methods: In this cross sectional descriptive study health screening data for school children collected in 2007 was used. Results: Data were analyzed for 2,193 4th-6th grade boys (52%) and girls who attended 4 schools in rural areas. DOI determined that only 44.3% of students had average weight. This proportion was much lower than the results of other methods (74.3-77.6%). All three methods defined girls (51.3-61.8%) as skinnier than boys. Skinny and average body shaped children classified by DOI and obese children classified by S-BOI were heavier and taller and presented higher degrees of obesity (DO) and BMI scores than by other methods. M-BOI and S-BOI presented statistically significant positive correlations with weight, height, DO and BMI, while DOI was not correlated with height. Conclusion: BMI based body shape classifications provide a more rigorous classification of body shape which are favorable for school health professionals with limited resources and policy makers for internationally comparable references.
The objective of this study was to rapidly evaluate fatty acids in a collection of millet (Panicum miliaceum subsp. miliaceum) of different origins so that this information could be disseminated to breeders to advance germplasm use and breeding. To develop the calibration equations for rapid and nondestructive evaluation of fatty acid content, near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRs) spectra (1104-2494 nm) of samples ground into flour ($n$=100) were obtained using a dispersive spectrometer. A modified partial least-squares model was developed to predict each component. For foxtail millet germplasm, our models returned coefficients of determination ($R^2$) of 0.89, 0.89, 0.89, and 0.92 for palmitic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, and total fatty acids, respectively. The prediction of the external validation set (n=10) showed significant correlation between references values and NIRs values ($r^2$=0.64, 0.90, 0.79, and 0.89 for palmitic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, and total fatty acids, respectively). Standard deviation/standard errors of cross-validation (SD/SECV) values were close to 3 (2.62, 2.40, 1.85, and 2.23 for palmitic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, and total fatty acids, respectively). These results indicate that these NIRs equations are functional for the mass screening and rapid quantification of the oleic and total fatty acids characterizing millet germplasm. Among the samples, IT153514 showed an especially high content of fatty acids ($48.14mg\;g^{-1}$), whereas IT123909 had a very low content ($34.44mg\;g^{-1}$).

The objective of this study was to rapidly evaluate fatty acids in a collection of foxtail millet (Setaria italica (L.) P. Beauv) of different origins so that this information could be disseminated to breeders to advance germplasm use and breeding. To develop the calibration equations for rapid and nondestructive evaluation of fatty acid content, near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRs) spectra (1104-2494 nm) of samples ground into flour (n=100) were obtained using a dispersive spectrometer. A modified partial least-squares model was developed to predict each component. For foxtail millet germplasm, our models returned coefficients of determination ($R^2$) of 0.91, 0.89, 0.98 and 0.98 for strearic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, and total fatty acids, respectively. The prediction of the external validation set (n=10) showed significant correlation between references values and NIRs values ($r^2=0.97$, 0.91, 0.99 for oleic, linoleic, and total fatty acids, respectively). Standard deviation/standard error of cross-validation (SD/SECV) values were greater than 3 (3.11, 5.45, and 7.50 for oleic, linoleic, and total fatty acids, respectively). These results indicate that these NIRs equations are functional for the mass screening and rapid quantification of the oleic, linolenic, and total fatty acids characterizing foxtail millet germplasm. Among the samples, IT153491 showed an especially high content of fatty acids ($84.06mg\;g^{-1}$), whereas IT188096 had a very low content ($29.92mg\;g^{-1}$).
