베어링으로 지지된 회전축의 스펙트럴요소 모델링 (Spectral Element Modeling of the Rotating Shafts on Bearing Supports)

  • In this paper, the vibration of a rotating shaft with a thin rigid disk on bearing supports is considered. It is assumed that the shaft has uniform, circular cross-section. Based on the Timoshenko-beam theory, the transverse displacements and slops in two lateral directions, the axial displacement, and the torsional deformation are considered. And flexible supports are used to analyse the bearings. A spectral element model is developed for the vibration analysis of the rotating shaft with a thin rigid disk, which is modeled by two shaft elements and a thin rigid disk element. The result of vibration analysis by finite element method is compared to the result of this research.

  • Buckling Restrained Braces (BRB) have been widely used in the construction industry as they utilize the most desirable properties of both constituent materials, i.e., steel and concrete. They present excellent structural qualities such as high load bearing capacity, ductility, energy-absorption capability and good structural fire behaviour. The effects of size and type of filler material in the existed gap at the steel core-concrete interface as well as the element's cross sectional shape, on BRB's fire resistance capacity was investigated in this paper. A nonlinear sequentially-coupled thermal-stress three-dimensional model was presented and validated by experimental results. Variation of the samples was described by three groups containing, the steel cores with the same cross section areas and equal yield strength but different materials (metal and concrete) and sizes for the gap. Responses in terms of temperature distribution, critical temperature, heating elapsed time and contraction level of BRB element were examined. The study showed that the superior fire performance of BRB was obtained by altering the filler material in the gap from metal to concrete as well as by increasing the size of the gap. Also, cylindrical BRB performed better under fire conditions compared to the rectangular cross section.

모형시험을 통한 복열 마이크로파일의 설치조건에 따른 수평 지지력 변화 (Variations of Lateral Bearing Capacity of 2-row Micropile with Installation Conditions by Model Test)

  • 마이크로파일의 수평 지지력은 파일의 본 수, 설치 각도와 간격 등 설치조건에 좌우된다. 마이크로파일에 관한 기존 연구는 연직 지지특성에 대한 평가와 효과적인 설치방법의 제안 등에 국한되어 있고, 파괴 모드와 같은 파괴 메커니즘 등에 대한 연구는 거의 없는 실정이다. 또한 대부분의 수평 지지력에 관한 연구도 단열 마이크로파일(1-row micropile)에 관한 것이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 파일의 설치 길이, 각도, 간격 등 설치조건을 달리한 경우 복열 마이크로 파일(2-row micropile)의 거동 및 지지특성을 평가하기 위하여 모형시험을 수행하였다. 모형시험결과, 설치 각도 θ > 0°인 경우(비교차 설치)의 복열 마이크로파일의 수평 지지력은 파일의 간격에 좌우되며, 설치 각도 θ = +30°인 조건이 지지력 증대에 가장 효과적이었다. 또한 설치 각도 θ < 0°인 경우(교차 설치)에는 파일의 간격과 각도에 좌우되며, 설치 각도 θ = -15°인 조건이 지지력 증대에 가장 효과적인 것으로 나타났다.

해군함정 협수로 연안 항해시 함위산출 및 보고사항 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study for Improving Naval Vessels's Position Calculation and Reporting Requirements for Safe Sailing in Narrow Channels)

  • 본 연구는 해군함정이 협수로 연안항해시 실시하고 있는 교차방위법을 살펴보았다. 특히, 물표 측정 순서에 의해 오차가 적게 발생하는 위치산출 방법, 권고 침로 산출 방법 및 위치 산출 후 조함권자에게 보고하는 사항을 항해안전 측면에서 살펴보았다. 해군 함정의 경우 협수로 항해 시, 협수로 연안 항해 요원이 배치되어 보다 강화된 항해 안전태세를 유지하게 된다. 물론 최신 기술의 발달로 다양한 항해장비가 등장하고 있어, 별도의 함위 산출 요원이 없어도 함위를 정확히 산출할 수 있다. 그러나 해군 함정의 경우 교전 시 언제든 함정손상이 발생할 수 있다는 점, 최근 지속적인 북한의 전파 교란으로 인해 항해 장비를 운용할 수 없는 상황이 발생할 수 있다는 점, 상선과는 다르게 함교에 충분한 인원이 배치될 수 있다는 점 등 교차방위법을 사용할 필요성이 존재한다. 본 연구를 통해 해군 함정 교차방위법이 항해안전 측면에서 개선되고, 초급장교들의 Seamanship 함양에 도움이 될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

쐐기수평력을 도입한 무그라우팅 선단압축 마이크로파일의 지지력 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Bearing Characteristics of No-grouted and End-compressed Micropile Adopting Wedge Horizontal Force)

  • 본 연구에서는 상부하중 재하 시 마이크로파일 선단부가 팽창하면서 확대되어 단부 주변 지반을 압축하고, 이에 따라 주면마찰력이 발휘되어 그라우팅 이전 단계에서도 지지력을 확보할 수 있는 고정지압구가 장착된 마이크로파일을 개발하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 개발된 고정지압구형 마이크로파일의 지반강도에 따른 적용성을 확인하고, 기존의 단순 선단확장형 마이크로파일 대비 지지거동 특성을 비교하는 데에 있다. 이를 위하여 선단저항과 주면저항을 분리하여 측정할 수 있는 모형토조를 포함한 새로운 시험장치를 고안하였으며, 고안된 시험장치를 이용한 지반강도 및 파일의 선단단면 변화에 따른 모형 재하시험을 수행하였다. 시험결과, 개발된 마이크로파일은 지반강도가 클수록 쐐기수평력에 의한 단부 주면마찰력이 더 증가하며, 풍화암 강도 이상 지반에서 더 효과적으로 적용될 수 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 그리고 풍화암 강도 이하의 지반강도 지반에서도 쐐기수평력 발휘에 따른 단부 확경으로 인해 추가적인 지지력 확보 효과가 나타날 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared as a primary screening method for cancer in canine serum

  • Cancer is a major cause of death in dogs worldwide, and the incidence of cancer in dogs is increasing. The attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopic (ATR-FTIR) technique is a powerful tool for the diagnosis of several diseases. This method enables samples to be examined directly without pre-preparation. In this study, we evaluated the diagnostic value of ATR-FTIR for the detection of cancer in dogs. Cancer-bearing dogs (n = 30) diagnosed by pathologists and clinically healthy dogs (n = 40) were enrolled in this study. Peripheral blood was collected for clinicopathological diagnosis. ATR-FTIR spectra were acquired, and principal component analysis was performed on the full wave number spectra (4,000-650 cm-1). The leave-one-out cross validation technique and partial least squares regression analysis were used to predict normal and cancer spectra. Red blood cell counts, hemoglobin levels and white blood cell counts were significantly lower in cancer-bearing dogs than in clinically healthy dogs (p < 0.01, p < 0.01 and p = 0.03, respectively). ATR-FTIR spectra showed significant differences between the clinically healthy and cancer-bearing groups. This finding demonstrates that ATR-FTIR can be applied as a screening technique to distinguish between cancer-bearing dogs and healthy dogs.

다공질 공기 베어링을 적용한 반도체 웨이퍼 연마용 스핀들 개발 (Development of Wafer Grinding Spindle with Porous Air Bearings)

  • Because of their cleanliness, low friction, and high stiffness, aerostatic bearings are used in numerous applications. Aerostic bearings that use porous materials as means of flow restriction have higher stiffness than other types of bearings and have been successfully applied as guide bearings, which have high motion accuracy requirements. However, the performances of porous bearings exhibit strong nonlinearity and can vary considerably depending on design parameters. Therefore, accurate prediction of the performance characteristics of porous bearings is necessary or their successful application. This study presents a porous bearing design and performance analysis for a spindle used in wafer polishing. The Reynolds and Darcy flow equations are solved to calculate the pressures in the lubrication film and porous busing, respectively. To verify the validity of the proposed analytical model, the calculated pressure distribution in the designed bearing is compared with that derived from previous research. Additional parametric studies are performed to determine the optimal design parameters. Analytical results show that optimal design parameters that obtain the maximum stiffness can be derived. In addition, the results show that cross-coupled stiffness increases with rotating speed. Thus, issues related to stability should be investigated at the design stage.

Compressive behavior of short fibrous reinforced concrete members with square cross-section

  • In this paper an analytical model is presented that addresses the compressive response of short-fiber reinforced concrete members (FRC) with hooked steel fibers. This model is applicable to a wide range of concrete strengths and accounts for the interaction between the cover spalling and the concrete core confinement induced by transverse steel stirrups and also for buckling of longitudinal reinforcing bars. The load-shortening curves generated here analytically fit existing experimental data well.

공동 스퀴즈 필름 댐퍼에 지지된 회전체의 정상상태 응답 해석 (Steady State Respknse of a Rotor Supported on Cavitated Squeeze Film Dampers)

  • The effect of cavitation on the synchronous steady state response of a single rotor supported on cavitated squeeze film dampers executing a circular orbit is investigated theoretically. The Swift-Stieber boundary conditions and a long bearing approximation are utillized to evaluate the direct and the cross coupled damping coefficients of a cavitated squeeze film damper. For typical design parameters, frequency response curves are presented here to exhibit the effect of cavitation on the imbalance response and transmissibilities for both a flexible rotor and a rigid rotor. Investigations show that cavitation occured in a squeeze film damper produces bistable jump phenomena and deteriorates the performance of a squeeze film damper. This arises from that the large cavity causes substantial increment of the cross coupled damping which has radial stiffening effect. Furthermore, the large cavity causes the decrement of the direct damping which has pure damping effect. It is also observed that in the absence of cavitation, both rotor excursion amplitude and imbalance transmissibilities are very well damped.

나선형 냉각 자켓의 유량에 따른 냉각 특성 (A Study on the Cooling Characteristics of Helical Type Cooling-Jacket according to the Flow Rate)

  • Cooling characteristics of cooling jacket for spindle system with built-in motor are studied. for the analysis, three dimensional model for the cooling jacket is built by using finite volume method. The three dimensional model includes the estimation on the amount of heat generation of bearing and built-in motor and the thermal characteristic values such as heat transfer coefficients on the boundary. The temperature distributions and the cooling characteristics are analyzed by using the commercial software FLUENT. Numerical results show that stream-wise cross section area and flow rate are important factors for cooling characteristics of cooling jacket. Cooling performance of cooling jacket is good in condition that stream-wise cross section's horizontal length is close to its vertical one and flow rate is high. This results show that heat transfer is dominated by velocity profile and heat transfer area.
