Shape and size optimization of trusses with dynamic constraints using a metaheuristic algorithm

  • Metaheuristic algorithm is used to solve the weight minimization problem of truss structures considering shape, and sizing design variables. The cross-sectional areas of the line element in trusses are the design variables for size optimization and the changeable joint coordinates are the shape optimization used in this study. The design of plane and spatial truss structures are optimized by metaheuristic technique named Teaching-Learning-Based Optimization (TLBO). Finite element analyses of structures and optimization process are carried out by the computer program visually developed by the authors coded in MATLAB. The four benchmark problems (trusses 2D ten-bar, 3D thirty-seven-bar, 3D seventy-two-bar and 2D two-hundred-bar) taken from literature are optimized and the optimal solution compared the results given by previous studies.

  • We present the optimum design for the cross-sectional(sizing) and shape optimization of truss structures with natural frequency constraints. The optimum design method used in this paper employs continuous design variables and the Harmony Search Algorithm(HSA). HSA is a meta-heuristic search method for global optimization problems. In this paper, HSA uses the method of random number selection in an update process, along with penalty parameters, to construct the initial harmony memory in order to improve the fitness in the initial and update processes. In examples, 10-bar and 72-bar trusses are optimized for sizing, and 37-bar bridge type truss and 52-bar(like dome) for sizing and shape. Four typical truss optimization examples are employed to demonstrate the availability of HSA for finding the minimum weight optimum truss with multiple natural frequency constraints.

  • The aim of this paper is to present new and an efficient optimization algorithm called Jaya for the optimum mass of braced dome structures with natural frequency constraints. Design variables of the bar cross-section area and coordinates of the structure nodes were used for size and shape optimization, respectively. The effectiveness of Jaya algorithm is demonstrated through three benchmark braced domes (52-bar, 120-bar, and 600-bar). The algorithm applied is an effective tool for finding the optimum design of structures with frequency constraints. The Jaya algorithm has been programmed in MATLAB to optimize braced dome.

  • 본 논문은 신경회로망과 같은 경험적 모델에서 출력별로 신뢰 구간을 추정하는 세 가지 대표적인 방법을 검토하고, 검토한 방법을 뉴로-퍼지 모델에 적용하여 장단점을 비교 분석한다. 본 논문에서 고려한 출력별 신뢰 구간 계산 방법은 cross-validation을 이용한 stacked generalization, 회귀 모델에서 유도된 predictive error bar, 지역 표현하는 신경회로망의 특성에 기반한 local reliability measure이다. 간단한 함수 근사화 문제와 혼돈 시계열 예측 문제를 이용하여 모의 실험을 수행하고, 세 가지 신뢰도 추정 방법의 성능을 정량적, 정성적으로 비교 분석한다. 분석 결과를 기초로 각 방법의 장단점 및 특성을 고찰하고, 모델링 문제에서 모델의 출력별 신뢰 구간 계산 방법의 실제 적용 가능성을 탐색한다.

  • In order to secure the variability of long-life housing, dry walls are used. The composite gypsum board panel is the most frequently used infill system for the wall, and it is an excellent construction method in terms of constructability and economic feasibility. However, there are also problems such as the destruction of Ondol pipes at the bottom floor and being unable to fix the light weight steel frame (M-bar) when a variable composite gypsum board panel is used. To solve such problems, a wall with a method of fixing only the top part without fixing the bottom floor is developed, but it is difficult to identify the durability of ceiling frame according to the tensile force of stud and the safety according to the Stiffness and impact resistance (soft body) of ceiling frame. Therefore, this study verified the effectiveness of infill system for the wall by conducting experiment on the stiffness and impact resistance of composite gypsum board panel according to the reinforcement of ceiling frame (wooden frame, double saw-toothed bracket, Cross M-bar). As a result, it was possible to secure the safety of wooden frame while the impact resistance and the Stiffness of double saw-toothed bracket and cross M-bar were not secured.

강체전차선로 고속화를 위한 설계파라미터 민감도 분석 연구 (A Study on a Sensitivity Analysis of Design Parameters for the Speed-up of Overhead Rigid Conductor System)

  • R-Bar (Overhead Rigid Conductor system) has been lately used for the speed of over 200km/h in Europe, while it has been developed and used for the max. speed of 120km/h in Korea. Because R-Bar has advantages of reduction of tunnel cross sectional area and maintenance, its development for more high-speed is urgent in Korea having many mountain area. Therefore a sensitivity analysis of design parameters for the speed-up of R-Bar has performed in this study. For the analysis, we have developed a program for the prediction of dynamic characteristics between a pantograph and R-Bar. The program was evaluated with the actual test result and a current collection performance according to the parameters such as a distance between brackets, a stiffness of bracket and of R-Bar rail was predicted with the program.

  • In this Work, we have studied about an RSFQ 2$\times$2 crossbar switch. The circuit was designed, simulated, and laid out for mask fabrication The switch cell was composed of a splitter a confluence buffer, and a switch core. An RSFQ 2$\times$2 crossbar switch was composed of 4 switch cells, a switch control input to select the cross and bar, data input, and data outputs. When a pulse was input to the switch control input to select the cross or bar the route of the input data was determined, and the data was output at the proper output port. We simulated and optimized the switch-element circuit and 2$\times$2 crossbar switch, by using Xic and Julia. We also performed the mask layout of the circuit by using Xic and Lmeter.

  • 본 논문에서는 모드전송선로 이론과 유효유전체 해석법을 결합한 새로운 해석법이 초소형 전송폭을 갖는 3차원 구조의 광 다중모드 간섭결합기의 설계특성을 분석하기 위하여 사용되었다. 결합된 해석법에 기초한 다중모드 간섭결합기의 결합효율을 정의하였으며, 3 dB 결합기, cross 결합기 그리고 bar 결합기의 결합 특성을 나타내는 결합길이를 수치해석적으로 결정하였다. 수치해석 결과 본 논문에서 설계한 다중모드 간섭결합기는 낮은 insertion loss와 높은 splitting ratio를 갖는 특성을 보였다.

  • In other to estimate an electrical properties of the cross linked polyethylene cable, the partial discharge properties due to charge of electrode shape(needle and bar) and void size were investigated at room temperature. Fast trip and breakdown time were appeared by the closed of needle electrode. The trip and breakdown voltage depend on insulator thickness. As the result, confirmed larger effect of void size than effect of insulator thickness. The effect of voids size than influence of insulation thickness was dominated by internal an electrode of inner insulators.
