격자배치 성토지지말뚝의 아칭효과에 대한 이론적 연구 (A Theoretical Study on Arching Effect of Embankment Pile Grid)

  • 이론적 연구를 통하여 말뚝지름과 말뚝설치간격, 성토재의 내부마찰각 그리고 성토고가 성토지지말뚝의 아칭효율에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 성토지지말뚝 상부의 성토체에 발생하는 아치모델에 대하여 아칭효율을 계산함에 있어 아치의 천정부파괴 및 말뚝캡에 작용하는 하중계산을 통한 아칭효율이 같게 되는 임계 상대간격비를 구할 수 있는 식을 제시하였으며 설계에 유용하게 쓰일 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구에서 수행된 계산결과에 따르면 상대간격비가 작은 경우는 말뚝캡에 작용하는 하중을 통해 계산되는 아칭효율이 설계를 지배하게 됨을 알 수 있으며 상대간격비가 커질수록 아치의 천정부파괴에 의한 아칭효율이 설계를 지배함을 알 수 있다. 말뚝중심간 설치간격에 대한 말뚝지름의 비를 나타내는 ${\beta}$값이 커질수록 말뚝 캡에 작용하는 하중에 의해 계산되는 아칭효율이 설계를 지배하게 되는 임계 상대간격비가 작아짐을 알 수 있었는데 ${\beta}$값이 0.5인 경우 임계 상대간격비는 0.35이며 ${\beta}$값이 0.2인 경우 임계 상대간격비는 0.85이었다. 계산결과에 따르면 Rankine 수동토압계수($K_p$)가 클수록 임계 상대간격비는 작아져서 $K_p$가 5인 경우 임계 상대간격비는 0.23이었으며 $K_p$가 2인 경우 임계 상대간격비는 0.85이었다. 말뚝캡이 성토지반에 대해 차지하는 면적비가 9%인 경우 아칭효율은 54%이었으며 성토재의 수동토압계수가 3인 경우 아칭효율은 61%이었는데 두 경우 모두 말뚝캡에 작용하는 하중에 의해 계산되는 아칭효율이 지배하는 상대간격비가 0.5보다 큼을 알 수 있어 실제적인 설계에 적용될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

이차목을 갖는 초음속 이젝터 작동압력에 대한 연구 (Study of Starting Pressure of a Supersonic Ejector with a Second-Throat)

  • Starting pressure of a supersonic ejector with a second-throat was investigated. In case of mixing chamber length longer than a critical length, starting pressure is in proportion to length of the mixing chamber. In this study, we assumed that the ejector starts when the primary supersonic flow reaches inlet of the second-throat and the distance of the supersonic flow traveling can be expressed by multiplying an empirical factor to the first diamond shock length of overexpanded flow. To calculate the overexpanded supersonic flow, a mixing model was employed to compute secondary flow pressure and the result was applied to back pressure condition of overexpanded flow calculation. In the result, for three cases of primary nozzle area ratio, we could get accurate model of predicting the starting pressure by selecting a suitable empirical factors around 3.

  • Using a computational fluid dynamics(CFD) simulation tool, we have provided a coating guideline for slot-die coating with a double layer slot die head. We have analyzed the fluid dynamics in terms of the coating speed, flow rate ratio, and viscosity ratio, which are critical for the stability of coating meniscus. We have identified the common coating defects such as break-up, air entrainment, and leakage by varying the coating speeds. The flow rate ratio is the critical parameter determining the wet film thickness of the top and bottom layers. It is shown that when the flow rate ratio exceeds or equals 1.8, air entrainment occurs due to insufficient hydraulic pressure in the bottom layer, even though the total flow rate remains constant. Furthermore, we have found that the flow of the bottom layer is significantly affected by the viscosity of top layer. The viscosity ratio of 4 or higher obstructs the flow of the bottom layer due to the increased hydraulic resistance, resulting in leakage. Finally, we have demonstrated that as the viscosity ratio increases from 0.1 to 10, the maximum coating speed rises from 0.4 mm/s to 1.6 mm/s, and the minimum wet film thickness decreases from 800 ㎛ to 200 ㎛.

An Overall Investigation of Break Simulators for LOCA Scenarios in Integral Effect Tests

  • Various studies on the critical flow models for sub-cooled and/or saturated water were reviewed, especially on Fauske, Moody, and Henry for basic theoretical models; Zaloudek for insight into physical phenomena for a critical flow in an orifice type flow path; Sozzi & Sutherland for a critical flow test of saturated and sub-cooled water at high pressure for orifice and nozzles; and a Marviken test on a full-scale critical flow test. In addition, critical flow tests of sub-cooled water for the break simulators in integral effect test (IET) facilities were also investigated, and a hybrid concept using Moody's and Fauske's models was considered by the authors. In the comparison of the models for the selected test data, discussions of the effect of the diameters, predictions of the critical flow models, and design aspects of break simulator for SBLOCA scenarios in the IET facilities were presented. In the effect of diameter on the critical flow rate with respect to all dimensional scales, it was concluded that the effect of diameter was found irrespective of diameter sizes. In addition, the diameter effect on slip ratio affecting the critical flow rate was suggested. From a comparison of the critical flow models and selected test data, the Henry-Fauske model of the MARS-KS code was found to be the best model predicting the critical flow rate for the selected test data under study.

BSCCO(2223) 단심 초전도 선재를 이용한 다심 초전도 선재의 접합공정 연구 (Superconducting Joint of Multi-filament BSCCO(2223) Tapes by using Single-filament Tape)

  • We jointed Bi(Pb)-Sr-Ca-Cu-O multifilament tapes and evaluated their electrical and mechanical properties. In order to improve connectivity of multifilaments, one or two single-filament tape was inserted between two multifilament tapes. The critical current ratio(CCR) and n-value of the jointed tapes were evaluated as a function of uniaxial pressure. It was observed that critical current ratio and n-value were 24.8-29.0% and 2.5-2.8 for MM lap-jointed tape. On the other hand, the corresponding values were improved to 24.7-53.9% and 3.1-4.2 for MSM jointed tape, and 63.4-76.0% and 3.4-5.1 for double MS:vr lap-jointed tape, respectively. The highest electrical properties of double MSM lap-jointed tape are considered to be owing to the presence of single core, causing better interconnections of multifilaments between the two tapes. The mechanical property of jointed tape was evaluated and correlated to the microstructural evolution. The strength of jointed tapes was 44-64% less than that of the unjoined tape. The strain tolerance of jointed tape was also reduced compared to that of the unjoined tape. These lower mechanical properties of jointed tape are probably due to the induced nonuniform microstructure such as the existence of cracks and Ag-intrusion in the joined region.

중년 남성에서 혈압과 관련한 허리-엉덩이 둘레비 산출 (A Distribution of Waist-hip Ratio Associated with the Blood Pressure in Middle-aged Men)

  • Backgroud: Excess abdominal fat, expressed as an increased ratio of waist to hip circumferences (WHR), is independently associated with higher levels of blood pressure. Although a WHR greater than 1.0 in men has been shown to predict complications from obesity, the WHR has not been evaluated in all ethnic groups. Methods: In order to ascertain the association between WHR and classification of blood pressure and to investigate the critical value of WHR as a predictive factor of hypertension in Korean middle-aged men, we compared the mean of WHRs according to the classification of blood pressure in Seoul Cohort participants. Results: Through a surrey of direct measurement of waist and hip girth, 452 subjects were recruited from the cohort. The mean of WHR was 0.88 and its standard deviation was 0.04. The mean of WHRs was higher in the systolic blood pressure group (above 140 mmHg), diastolic blood pressure group (above 90 mmHg), and hypertension group than in the systolic blood pressure group (below 140 mmHg), diastolic blood pressure group (below 90 mmHg), and normotensive group, respectively. And WHR of above 0.89 was associated with hypertension (z-value =6.66). Conclusion: It is necessary for Korean males with WHR greater than 0.89 to recommend the primary prevention and early defection of hypertension.

The Long-term Efficacy of Domiciliary Noninvasive Positive-Pressure Ventilation in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

  • Background: We evaluated the long-term effects of domiciliary noninvasive positive-pressure ventilation (NIPPV) used to treat patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Methods: Databases were searched to identify randomized controlled trials of COPD with NIPPV for longer than 1 year. Mortality rates were the primary outcome in this meta-analysis. The eight trials included in this study comprised data from 913 patients. Results: The mortality rates for the NIPPV and control groups were 29% (118/414) and 36% (151/419), suggesting a statistically significant difference (risk ratio [RR], 0.79; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.65-0.95). Mortality rates were reduced with NIPPV in four trials that included stable COPD patients. There was no difference in admission, acute exacerbation and quality of life between the NIPPV and control groups. There was no significant difference in withdrawal rates between the two groups (RR, 0.99; 95% CI, 0.72-1.36; p=0.94). Conclusion: Maintaining long-term nocturnal NIPPV for more than 1 year, especially in patients with stable COPD, decreased the mortality rate, without increasing the withdrawal rate compared with long-term oxygen treatment.

중앙부와 모서리부 다축 차량 하중에 의한 콘크리트 도로포장의 응력 상관관계 (Relationship between Concrete Pavement Stresses under Multi-Axle Interior and Edge Loads)

  • 본 연구는 콘크리트 도로 포장에 복륜 단축, 복륜 복축, 복륜 삼축 등 복륜 다축 하중이 포장의 중앙부와 모서리부에 작용할 때 포장의 응력 분포 및 최대 응력의 차이를 분석하고 이러한 응력의 차이가 콘크리트 탄성계수, 슬래브 두께, 그리고 지반 탄성계수에 따라 어떠한 특성을 갖는지를 분석하기 위하여 수행되었다. 변환영역에서의 해석법을 이용하여 중앙부 하중에 의한 응력을 구하였으며 유한요소법을 이용하여 모서리부 하중에 의한 응력을 구하였다. 여러 가지 변수에 대하여 중앙부 하중에 의한 최대 응력과 모서리부 하중에 의한 최대 응력을 비교하였으며 이러한 최대 응력 비율을 예측할 수 있는 공식을 개발하였다. 이러한 공식을 이용하여 중앙부 하중에 의한 최대 응력에서 모서리부 하중에 의한 최대 응력을 예측하여 최대 응력 비율 예측 공식의 정확성을 검증하였다. 연구결과 중앙부와 모서리부 하중에 의한 콘크리트 포장의 최대 응력 변화 경향은 매우 비슷하였으며 종방향 상의 최대 응력 발생 위치는 일치하였다. 모서리부 하중에 의한 최대 응력을 중앙부 하중에 의한 최대 응력으로 나눈 최대 응력 비율은 하중 축 수가 많아질수록 감소하며, 콘크리트 탄성계수가 증가, 슬래브 두께가 증가, 지반 탄성 계수가 감소, 그리고 하중 접지압이 증가할수록 커지게 된다.

  • The flooding, especially in channel, is one of the critical issue to put proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) to practical use. In this paper, channel flooding was investigated the pressure difference at cathode channel outlet. A ratio of pressure difference changes to 25, 50% as its variation rate. The pressure variable rate is reflected in dimensionless number FN. As a result, modified dimensionless number $FN^*$ correctly predicted the channel flooding. This study analyzes that a variety of pressure difference is how to affect flooding at the cathode of the PEMFC.

안쪽축이 회전하는 환형관내 헬리컬 유동장의 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Helical Flow Field in a Concentric Annulus with Rotating Inner Cylinders)

  • This experimental study concerns the characteristics of a transitional flow in a concentric annulus with a diameter ratio of 0.52, whose outer cylinder is stationary and inner one rotating. The pressure drops and skin-friction coefficients have been measured for the fully developed flow of water and that of glycerine-water solution (44%) at a inner cylinder rotational speed of $0{\sim}600$ rpm, respectively. The transitional flow has been examined by the measurement of pressure drops and the visualization of flow field, to reveal the relation of the Reynolds and Rossby numbers with the skin-friction coefficients and to understand the flow instability mechanism. The present results show that the skin-friction coefficients have the significant relation with the Rossby numbers, only for laminar regime. The occurrence of transition has been checked by the gradient changes of pressure drops and skin-friction coefficients with respect to the Reynolds numbers. The increasing rate of skin-friction coefficient due to the rotation is uniform for laminar flow regime, whereas it is suddenly reduced for transitional flow regime and, then, it is gradually declined for turbulent flow regime. Consequently, the critical (axial-flow) Reynolds number decreases as the rotational speed increases. Thus, the rotation of inner cylinder promotes the early occurrence of transition due to the excitation of taylor vortices.
