Establishing greater reliability in property appraisal is critical because it promotes the public interest. Reliability is composed of competence and ethics. In particular, the ethics of property appraisal has individual and corporational aspects. This study aimed to evaluate how the ethical climate of a firm is affected by the scale of appraisal firms, thereby validating the effect of the 'Large Appraisal Firm System'. Hence, the ethical climate of appraisal firms, an indicator of inherent ethical value recognition, was investigated, divided into recognition of social responsibility and exclusion of self-interest. The study results showed that the ethical management systems of appraisal firms encourage the appraisers of such firms to be conscious of their social responsibility and to exclude self-interest in their work. The degree of such influence, however, differs according to the scale of appraisal firms. Based on these results, further research on the maintenance and operation of the ethical management systems of appraisal firms is required to enhance the reliability of property appraisal.

A false alarm, which is an incorrect report of an emergency, could trigger an unnecessary action. The predictive maintenance framework developed in our previous work has a feature whereby a machine alarm is triggered based on sensor data evaluation. The sensor data evaluator performs three essential evaluation steps. First, it evaluates each sensor data value based on its threshold (lower and upper bound) and labels the data value as "alarm" when the threshold is exceeded. Second, it calculates the duration of the occurrence of the alarm. Finally, in the third step, a domain expert is required to assess the results from the previous two steps and to determine, thereby, whether the alarm is true or false. There are drawbacks of the current evaluation method. It suffers from a high false-alarm ratio, and moreover, given the vast amount of sensor data to be assessed by the domain expert, the process of evaluation is prolonged and inefficient. In this paper, we propose a method for automatic false-alarm labeling that mimics how the domain expert determines false alarms. The domain expert determines false alarms by evaluating two critical factors, specifically the duration of alarm occurrence and identification of anomalies before or while the alarm occurs. In our proposed method, Hierarchical Temporal Memory (HTM) is utilized to detect anomalies. It is an unsupervised approach that is suitable to our main data characteristic, which is the lack of an example of the normal form of sensor data. The result shows that the technique is effective for automatic labeling of false alarms in sensor data.

This work presents the buckling investigation of functionally graded plates resting on two parameter elastic foundations by using a new hyperbolic plate theory. The main advantage of this theory is that, in addition to including the shear deformation effect, the displacement field is modelled with only four unknowns and which is even less than the first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) and higher-order shear deformation theory (HSDT) by introducing undetermined integral terms, hence it is unnecessary to use shear correction factors. The governing equations are derived using Hamilton's principle and solved using Navier's steps. The validation of the proposed theoretical model is performed to demonstrate the efficacy of the model. The effects of various parameters like the Winkler and Pasternak modulus coefficients, inhomogeneity parameter, aspect ratio and thickness ratio on the behaviour of the functionally graded plates are studied. It can be concluded that the present theory is not only accurate but also simple in predicting the critical buckling loads of functionally graded plates on elastic foundation.

The research efforts to modernize Hanok (Korean traditional housing) have been performed to improve the quality and cost-effectiveness through application of modern building methods and materials, and to disseminate it in various forms of sizes and facilities. In this study, in order to identify the variations of modernized Hanok, data from seven test-bed projects are analyzed based on the building work-section, element, method, and material. The data were standardized and managed through the modernized Hanok classification system (Hanclass) to facilitate systematic comparisons of the test-bed projects by the variation of building method and it's cost impact. Identified factors of the variation in terms of building methods were then itemized and quantified in terms of building cost. Findings of this study indicate that the timber structure is the most critical area for future variation for improving the quality and cost-effectiveness. The results of this study will be also used to systemize the Hanok database for further studies.

Background: Bus driving is a mentally demanding activity that requires prolonged attention to ensure safety. The aim of the study was to assess mental fatigue caused by driving a public bus and to find a profile of workers at higher risk. Methods: We evaluated changes of critical flicker fusion (CFF) (index of central arousal) and heart rate variability (HRV) (index of autonomic balance) in a 6-hour driving shift on a real route, in 31 professional bus drivers, and we tested the influence of personal factors such as sleep quality, BMI, and age. Paired t-test was used to test differences of CFF and HRV between both initial and final phase of driving, while multiple linear regression tested the influence of personal variables on the indexes of mental fatigue. Results: Results showed that CFF significantly decreased after 6 hours of bus driving (41.91 Hz, sd 3.31 vs. 41.15 Hz, sd 3.15; p = 0.041), and heart rate significantly decreased in the final phase of driving, with respect to the initial phase (85 vs. 78 bpm, p = 0.027). Increasing age (beta = -0.729, p = 0.022), risk of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (beta = -0.530, p = 0.04), and diurnal sleepiness (beta = -0.406, p = 0.017) showed a significant effect on influencing mental fatigue. Conclusion: Elderly drivers at higher risk of sleep disorders are more prone to mental fatigue, when exposed to driving activity. Monitoring indexes of central arousal and autonomic balance, coupled with the use of structured questionnaires can represent a useful strategy to detect profile of workers at higher risk of mental fatigue in such duty.

The article is devoted to perfecting the system of management of the financial potential of transport enterprises. It is established that transport as an integral part of the state economy has to organically enter the market economy and provide sustainable transport services to national economy enterprises regardless of ownership, as well as ensure passenger transportation. It is also determined that in the conditions of market relations, transport highways must perform their functions with sufficient economic benefit to keep their material and technical resources in good order, conduct an investment policy with extensive use of scientific and technological progress, as well as a social policy guaranteeing the conditions for employees' motivated work. The study reveals an association between the financial and strategic goals of transport enterprises and the minimization of their economic risks, the prevention of bankruptcy and profit margin shortfalls. It is found that transport enterprises need to strive for the overall improvement of their financial potential through increasing the components of financial potential and assessing the impact of risk factors on them: the capacity of fixed assets, the capacity of financial resources, the capacity of services, and the capacity of credit opportunities. These are the elements of transport enterprises' financial potential that ensure its desired level. It is demonstrated that of critical importance in managing the financial potential of a transport enterprise is the role of financial resources, as a subject cannot reach the desired strategic goals without them.

The influence of waste technological waters of thermal and fast reactors of Beloyarsk NPP (Russia) on the accumulation of 60Co, 90Sr and 137Cs in macrophytes and ichthyofauna of the cooling pond has been studied. Critical radionuclides, routes of their entry into the ecosystem and periods of maximum discharge of radioisotopes into the cooling pond have been determined. It is shown that the technology of electricity generation at the Beloyarsk NPP, based on fast reactors, has a much smaller effect on the release of artificial radionuclides into the environment. Therefore, during the entire period of monitoring studies (1976-2019), the decrease in the specific activity of radionuclides of NPP origin in macrophytes was 13-25800 times, in ichthyofauna 1.5-44.5 times. The maximum discharge of artificial radionuclides into the Beloyarsk reservoir was noted during the period of restoration and decontamination work aimed at eliminating the emergencies at the AMB reactors of NPP. The factors influencing the accumulation of artificial radionuclides in the components of the freshwater ecosystem of the Beloyarsk cooling pond have been determined, including: the physicochemical nature of radioisotopes, their concentration in surface water, the temperature of the aquatic environment, the trophicity of the reservoir, the species of hydrobionts.

As the quality of life improves, people want to live in more pleasant environment with beautiful trees, clean air and water. They are keenly interested in environmental issues as well as living environment of apartment which is a trademark of modern life. With this situation, the function and roles of landscaping trees have been recognized as a critical factor to improve living environment. As people have asked for more demands on those trees, it has raised more issues on the defect of trees and is required the solution to those issues. So, the purpose of this study was to survey the reasons of defects and find out those solutions. The data on defects in 1990s was referenced to the reports issued by SH Corporation in 1994 and 1997. The data on defects in 2000s are collected from March, 2006 to May 2006 based on the survey for apartments already constructed by Korea Housing Corporation. The results of the survey were shown that, in the year of 1994, landscaping trees causing high rate of defects were Acer buergerianum (92%), Pinus densiflora(85.7%), Celtis sinensis(80%), Cydonia sinensis(75%) and Diospyros kaki(66.6%), and in the year of 1997, landscaping trees causing high rate of defect were Ziziphus jujuba(100%), Cornus alba(65.2%), Diospyros kaki(60%), Thuja occidentalis(60%), and Metasequoia glyptostroboides(42%). And, in the year of 2006, landscaping trees causing high rate of defect were Sophora japonica(100%), Taxus cuspidata(80%), Magnoila quinquepeta (75%), Acer palmatum(62.5%) and Ginkgo biloba(50%). Because the reasons of defects were various according to the conditions including the climate, location, time and landscaping trees carried into the work area, we present the problems and solutions to those defects. Since the landscaping trees are living creatures, the factors of defects were various and complicated according to the site condition. So, in the period of warranty, contractor should designate the tree manger who can recognize the situation and take suitable action within timely manner.
Since Korea disclaimed to open the ports, Korean architecture has met the impetuous transformation. Although there would be various factors of this transformation, the new-coming architecture by missionary seemed to be a significant one, and many researches have been carried out on this theme in diverse viewpoints. However, because these researches have preponderated on the Catholic tradition, it is deficient for clarify the whole history of mission architecture. Therefore, this research has the meaning to enrich the history of Korean modern architecture by making balance. First of all, this paper is focused on the activities of one missionary, Graham Lee. He is a practical missionary at the beginning, his architecture made a critical influence in Korean traditional architecture. Graham Lee was born in Rock Island, Illinois, 1861, and he determined to become a missionary through grown up. He spent his boyhood by working as a plumber for his purpose and studied in a university afterward. Graduating of McComick Theological Seminary, he was nominated as a pioneer of Pyeng Yang Mission Station and set foot in Korea, September of 1892. Since then he started to erect missionary facilities in Pyeng Yang, such as Well House(1898), Pyeng Yang Central Church(1900-1901), Pyeng Yang Academy(1902). These all his works are designed with eclectic style which shows western and Korean traditional style intermingled. This unique characteristic made a profound influence to the Korean mission architecture afterwards. Especially, the L-type plan of Pyeng Yang Central Church, which is first shown by him, is recognized very unique, and this plan type had been spread all over the country. Therefore the L-type plan became the peculiar feature of the early Korean churches. Furthermore, working with Korean carpenters, he taught them new skills of modem buildings. After that, they were expanded out northern part of Korea and took the roles of master builders. According to this expansion, his particular style had got spread and had been settled as a unique eclectic style in Korean modern architecture. In the conclusion, he is evaluated to be a critical pioneer missionary, who left a big influence on the frame work of Korean modern architecture in the transitional times.

The nuclear power industry in the world has recognized the importance of integrating non-technical and team skills training with the technical training given to its control room operators to reduce human errors since the Three Mile Island and Chernobyl accidents. The Nuclear power plant (NPP) industry in Korea has been also making efforts to reduce the human errors which largely have contributed to 120 nuclear reactor trips from the year 2001 to 2006. The Crew Resource Management (CRM) training was one of the efforts to reduce the human errors in the nuclear power industry. The CRM was developed as a response to new insights into the causes of aircraft accidents which followed from the introduction of flight recorders and cockpit voice recorders into modern jet aircraft. The CRM first became widely used in the commercial airline industry, but military aviation, shipboard crews, medical and surgical teams, offshore oil crews, and other high-consequence, high-risk, time-critical industry teams soon followed. This study aims to develop a CRM training program that helps to improve plant performance by reducing the number of reactor trips caused by the operators' errors in Korean NPP. The program is; firstly, based on the work we conducted to develop a human factors training from the applications to the Nuclear Power Plant; secondly, based on a number of guidelines from the current practicable literature; thirdly, focused on team skills, such as leadership, situational awareness, teamwork, and communication, which have been widely known to be critical for improving the operational performance and reducing human errors in Korean NPPs; lastly, similar to the event-based training approach that many researchers have applied in other domains: aircraft, medical operations, railroads, and offshore oilrigs. We conducted an experiment to test effectiveness of the CRM training program in a condition of simulated control room also. We found that the program made the operators' attitudes and behaviors be improved positively from the experimental results. The more implications of the finding were discussed further in detail.
