  • This study investigates the change of the temperature and mechanical properties of the braking disk for the railway vehicle. The average temperature is measured about $100^{\circ}C$ and the maximum temperature is measured over $200^{\circ}C$ by non-contact sensor from Seoul to Chun-an. As a result of measuring, we determine the temperature of test(tensile and J-integral) at $20^{\circ}C,\;100^{\circ}C,\;200^{\circ}C$ and $300^{\circ}C$. In the test, the material values are decreased by the increasing of the temperature. But ratio of decreasing is the largest at $200^{\circ}C$, the tensile test value is decreased about $10\%$ and the J-integral test value is decreased $30\%$. The mechanical properties of this material are mostly changed at $200^{\circ}C$.

  • In this research, the cracking of tunnel concrete lining was investigated and analyzed through long-term measurement and nonlinear numerical analysis. For one year after the casting of lining, the stresses and strains were measured by the sensors installed in hard rock tunnel lining. The measurements showed that only small stresses which were less than cracking stress occurred in every survey sections regardless of sensor directions. It could be induced that the external load applied to the lining was small or ignorable. Also, it was carried out short-term numerical analysis based on such site condition as ambient temperature, the- degree of overbreak and mold staying period. Long-term numerical analysis based on creep & shrinkage and nonlinear cracking was carried out. The output showed that construction condition and ambient environments could make the lining concrete crack without external loads. The cracks formed in this process does not indicate the structural instability of the tunnel.

  • In this paper, a measuring NDT(nondestructive testing) system using RUS(Resonant Ultrasound Spectroscopy) was built for nondestructive evaluation of the flaw in a ceramic Ferrule. The principle of RUS is that the mechanical resonant frequency of the materials depends on density, and the coefficient of elasticity. The RUS system is the measuring which is to exite specimen and to inspect the difference of natural frequency pattern between acceptable specimen and specimen which has some defects. RUS system is configured of spectrum analyzer, power amplifier, PZT sensor and support frame. For defect evaluation by the RUS, we performed to measure natural frequency of Ferrule, both acceptable and cracked. In the case of Ferrule, the resonant frequency of cracked-Ferrule existed to higher frequency band than acceptable-Ferrule.

  • A various structural materials are used in construction projects such as a stone, concrete, steel materials. Between of them, concrete are used widely. The compressive strength of concrete is high, and its maintenance and management is comparatively easy. The R.C Building will be superannuated as time passes. This program is generated by propagation of cracks. In order to manage such cracks, time and efforts, expense, etc. are required. In this study, glass sensors were embedding in a model beam and column and leakage of fluorescence and adhesive material was investigated. Further, currents in glass pipe were observed to find the leakage of liquid in glass pipes. Progressive cracks generated by cause the fracture of glass pipes. Therefore, the liquid become to flow and electric current stops, and the cracked part of the member can be found easily. Moreover, the adhesive delays progressive cracking system that responds in air, and the life of a structure can be made to extend. The purpose of this research is to develop of low price sensors that can perform of self-diagnosis in addition to ability of concrete repair concrete to damage.

The average temperature is measured about $100^{\circ}C$ and the maximum temperature is measured over $200^{\circ}C$ by non-contact sensor from Seoul to Chunan. In the $20^{\circ}C-300^{\circ}C$, the $0.2\%$ offset yield strengths of the disk (GC25-30 material) are a little down to the reference value, but the linear relation of tensile test result is not find from the linear change of temperature. However, $J_{IC}$ values have the inverse proportion to the temperature, and the $J_{IC}$ value at $200^{\circ}C$ decrease $30.55\%$ from the $J_{IC}$. value of the room temperature. This result means that the crack length on the braking disk is rapidly increase at $200^{\circ}C$

  • A number of efforts had been sought to instrument bridges for the purpose of structural monitoring and assessment. The outcome of these efforts, as gauged by advances in the understanding of the definition of structural damage and their role in sensor selection as well as in the design of cost and data-effective monitoring systems, has itself been difficult to assess. The authors' experience with the design, calibration, and operation of a monitoring system for the Kishwaukee Bridge in Illinois has provided several lessons that bear upon these concerns. The systems have performed well in providing a continuous, low-cost monitoring platform for bridge engineers with immediate relevant information.

  • A new active vibration measurement system in electric power transmission line is presented, using in the nondestructive test. With a permanent magnet and a couple of coils, the system exerts impact force to a test object and in turn picks up the vibration of the object. The natural frequency with the amplitude obtained from the system are used as a basis for the detection of defects in the object. The system is controlled by an electronic device designed to facilitate the fully automated testing process with consistent repeatability and reliability which are essential to the nondestructive test. The system is expected to be applied to the wide area of defect detection including the classification of mechanical parts in production and inspection processes.

  • The usefulness of the magnetic camera for non-destructive testing of aging aircraft is discussed in this paper. The magnetic camera can be used f magnetic particle testing(MT), magnetic flux leakage testing(MFLT), eddy current testing(ECT) and penetration testing(PT). It measures the distribution of a magnetic field and visualizes the magnetic pattern. Near and far side cracks, fatigue, thickness degradation, and cracks under rivets have been detected. The possibility of quantitative evaluation was also examined. Using indirect experiments, we verified the detection ability of the sensor for cracks in titanium and advanced composite materials.

  • As aircrafts are being operated at high altitude, wing structures experience various fatigue loadings under cryogenic environments. As a result, fatigue damage such as a crack could be develop that could eventually lead to a catastrophic failure. For this reason, fatigue damage monitoring is an important process to ensure efficient maintenance and safety of structures. To implement damage detection in real-world flight environments, a special cooling chamber was built. Inside the chamber, the temperature was maintained at the cryogenic temperature, and harmonic fatigue loading was given to a wing structure. In this study, piezoelectric active-sensing based guided waves were used to detect the fatigue damage. In particular, a beamforming technique was applied to efficiently measure the scattering wave caused by the fatigue damage. The system was used for detection, growth monitoring, and localization of a fatigue crack. In addition, a sensor diagnostic process was also applied to ensure the proper operation of piezoelectric sensors. Several experiments were implemented and the results of the experiments demonstrated that this process could efficiently detect damage in such an extreme environment.

  • By Laser Through-Silicon-Via process, debris and particles occur when you are forming. Therefore the research of TSV cleaning become important to remove those particles and debris. Both chemical cleaning method that uses a surfactant and physical cleaning method that uses a brush were studied with the via of $30{\mu}m$ diameter and $100{\mu}m$ depth on the 8 inch CMOS Image Sensor wafer. On the DI water and a surfactant in mixture ratio of 2:1, debris show $73{\mu}m^2$ per $0.054mm^2$. Cleaning is superior by lower mixture ratio of DI water and surfactant. In addition, It is less than 5% of debris distribution in the laser condition changed by Laser's frequency and its speed and cleaning had no effect. In the physical cleaning, there are no crack and damage when the system condition is set by $1000{\sim}3000rpm$ strip, $50{\sim}3000rpm$ rinsing, and $200{\sim}300rpm$ brushing Therefore, debris and particles can be removed by enforced chemical method and physical method.
