SiCw/Al composite material is especially attractive because of their superior specific strength, specific stiffness, corrosion fatigue resistance, creep resistance, and wear resistance compared with the corresponding wrought Al alloy. In this study, Fatigue crack growth behavior and fatigue crack path morphology(FCPM) of SiC whisker reinforced Al 6061 alloy with 25% SiC volume fraction and Al 6061 allay were performed. Result of the fatigue crack growth test sgiwed that fatigue crack growth rate of SiCw/Al 6061 composite was slower than that of Al 6061 matrix therefore it was confirmed that Sic whisker have a excellent fatigue resistance. And Al 6061 matrix had only FCPM perpendicular to loading direction. On the other hand SiCw/Al 6061 composite had three types in fatigue crack path morphology. First type is that both sides FCPM of artificial notch are perpendicular to loading direction. Second type is that a FCPM in artifical notch has slant angle to loading direction and the other side FCPM is perpendicular to loading direction. Third type is that both sides FCPM of notch have slant angle to loading direction. It was considered that this kinds of phenomena were due to non-uniform distribution of SiC whisker and confirmed by SEM observation for fracture mechanism study.

The loading condition of actual construction works is complex. The shear effect of mixed-mode load component are crack propagation mechanism in step larger than the crack initial mechanism. Therefore, in this study received a mixed-mode loading on fatigue crack stress ratio on crack propagation path and speed of progress to learn whether stress affects crack propagation. ${\Delta}$ P a constant state of fatigue tests in Mode I, II give the same stress ratio, frequency 10Hz, sinusoidal waveform was used. A lower stress ratio fatigue crack propagation angle is small. This is less affected by the Mode II. Therefore, a mixed-mode fatigue crack propagation is to progress by the Mode. Stress ratio in a mixed mode crack in the path of progress and found a lot of impact.
The heat resistant material, in service, may experience static loading, cyclic loading, or a combination of two. An experimental study of crack growth behavior of STS 316L austenitic stainless steel under fatigue, and creep-fatigue loading conditions were carried out on compact tension specimens at various tensile hold times. In the crack growth experiments under hold times. In the crack growth experiments under hold time loading conditions, tensile hold times were ranged from 5 seconds to 100 seconds and its behavior was characterized using the $\Delta$K parameter. The crack growth rates generally increase with increasing hold times. However in this material, the trend of crack growth rates decreases with increasing hold times for short hold time range relatively. It is attributed to a decline in the cyclic crack growth rate as a result of blunting at the crack tip by creep deformation. The effect of grain size on the creep behavior of STS 316L was investigated. Specimens with grain size of 30, 65 and 125${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ were prepared through various heat treatments and they were tested under various test conditions. The fracture mode of 316L changed from transgranular to intergranular with increasing grain size.
This Study is to investigate the influence of weld residual stresses on the fatigue crack growth behaviors in pressure ves-sel reinforcement. In order to perform this study, the automatically welded specimens are prepared. The material is ASTM A516 grade 60 steel used in pressure vessel mainly. For pad-on-plate of skip welding continuous welding and PWHT specimen, fatigue crack initiation is generally initiat-ed at weld starting and end toe zone, and ruptured at weld starting toe zone, Fatigue life if pad-on-plate continuous speci-men is increased more than that of pad-on-plate skip fillet welding specimene about 85% under low load, about 20% under high load, and decreased than that of two-pad continuous welding specimen about 85%. In da/dN-$\Delta$ Κ curve under low load, pad-on-plate skip fillet welding specimen showed retardation on the initial crack, and the fatigue crack growth rate at the low region of $\Delta$Κ greater specimene E(3.8{\times}10^{-6}$mm/cycle). And the fatigue life of welding specimen was smaller than that of PWHT specimen.
In this study, CT specimens were prepared from ASTM A516 Gr. 65 which was used for pressure vessel plates for moderate and lower temperature service. Fatigue crack growth test was carried out in the environment of low temperature of $10^{circ}C, -10^{circ}C, -30${circ}C\;and\;-50^{circ}C$ and in the range of stress ratio of R=0.05 and 0.3 by means of opening mode displacement. Based on these test results, the characteristics from temperature and stress ration were shown as follows. 1) As the stress ratio, R increased da/dN and ${Delta}K$ of 2nd stage gradually decreased. And as R decreased, the effect of temperature became greater and greater. 2) As the temperature descended, da/dN decreased on a certain ${Delta}K$, and ${Delta}K$ did in a same da/dN. And the stress ratio, R exerted greater influence at the lower temperature. 3) The fatigue crack growth constant, m increased at $10^{circ}C$ and $-10^{circ}C$, snd decreased at $-30^{circ}C$ and $-50^{circ}C$ following the increment of stress ratio R. And m increased along with the reduction of temperature greatly decreased at $-30^{circ}C$ to come close to two(2).
The objective of this study is to investigate the influence of welding residual stresses on the fatigue crack growth behavior of cracks located transverse to the weld bead. For this purpose, G. T. A (Gas Tungsten Arc) welding was performed on hte Al alloy 1100-O plate and the same initial crack is made on HAZ(Heat Affected Zone), weld metal and base meta respectively. Specimens were used CT(Compact Tension) specimens. Initial welding residual stresses were measured by using strai gage sectioning method. All specimens were tested under constant amplitude load with stress ratio R=0.1, It is possible to predict fatigue crack growth behaviors and the fatigue life, using numerical analysis together with distribution of initial residual stress and the values of C and m obtained from $da/dN-{\Delta}K$
The effects of PWHT (poste weld heat treatment) and stress simulating the residual stress during PWHT in weld HAZ of low and high strength steels on corrosion fatigue crack growth were evaluated. The obtained results are summarized as follows. 1. Fatigue crack growth rate of HAZ in air and 3.5% NaCl solution was slower than that of parent due to the signgularity in weld HAZ. 2. In the case of HT-80, 3.5% NaCl solutio nacts to accelerate the crack growth for all specimens, and the sensitivity of as-weld to corrosion environment was the greatest among other PWHT specimens. 3. Corrosion fatigue crack growth of parent, as-weld and PWHT speciments ofr SS41 as well as SM53B was retarded in comparison with the fatigue crack growth in air. 4. There was a tendency that crack growth of PWHT specimens subjected $10kg/mm^2$ was faster than that of PWHT specimens without stress during PWHT. 5. The retardation phenomenon of crack growth in corrosion environment is attributed to the crack branching decreased .DELTA.K due to the corrosion products and multi-cracks.
In this study, in order to evaluate the shape and the size of the plastic zone at the notch tip before stable crack growth, a newly developed technique for plastic strain measurement, that is, the recrystallization-etching technique was applied to observe the intense strain zone at the notch tip of weld HAZ. 1) The recrystallized specimens showed that the amount of the intense strain zone, more than 20% plastic zone, was quantitatively observed as the plane strain state during the growth of the plastic zone. 2) The behavior of plastic deformation at midsection are different for parent and weld HAZ. In addition, the micro crack initiation occurs at midsection, parent and weld HAZ when the crack opening displacement(COD) value is .delta.$_{t}$=0.4mm. 3) The plastic zone for parent proceeds in the forward direction at notch tip and for weld HAZ in the right and left direction at the notch tip. 4) The relation between plastic strain energy(Wp) and COD(.delta.$_{t}$) depended on yield stress, gradient and plastic strain size.ize.
Computer aided unloading elastic compliance method was employed to measure the closure and the length of short cracks. The most significant factor that influences the fatigue growth behavior of short cracks is the crack closure Phenomenon. dc/dN-$\Delta$$K_{eff}$ relationships of short cracks are found to coincide well with the corresponding long crack relationships. Non-propagating behavior of short cracks at notch root can be predicted from the crack opening SIF of short cracks, $K_{op}$ , and the growth equation of long cracks in Region I and II.n Region I and II.I.
