  • This study evaluates the fire resisting capacity of the beam of the legal fire resistance construction, which establishes the Article 3 of the Regulations on Escape and Fire Resistance of Buildings. There are a total of five structures that we consider as legal fire resistance constructions, however, this study has a primary target of the reinforced concrete beam, and tests the fire-resistant performance depend on the covering depth of reinforce concrete. The results showed that it meets the three hours, the maximum statutory fire resistance time, if it was a load ratio of 0.5 and covering depth of 40 cm. Steel framed mortar beam is legal fire resistance structure that it was possessed three hours fire resistance performance, if it was a load ratio of 0.4 and covering depth of 60 mm.

  • Recent researches of the fire resistance in concrete focus on how to secure relevant functions in the high strength concrete. However, the demand of normal strength concrete less than 40 MPa takes most of the total concrete demand. Therefore, fire resistance study needs to cover not only high strength concretes but also normal strength concretes. This study evaluated the fire resistance performance of 40 MPa concrete columns, taking the concrete covering thickness and the size of section as variables. Consequently, the fire resistance performance improved as the section size and the covering thickness became larger.

  • Generally, reinforced concrete is one of the most commonly used structural materials and it prevents corrosion of steel bar by high pH of interior, But, as time elapsed, reinforced concrete structure become deteriorated by many of combined deterioration factors and environmental conditions. And, there are large number of deteriorate mechanism of the reinforced concrete structure and it acts complexly. It is recognized that steel bar corrosion is the main distress behind the present concern regarding concrete durability. In this study, to institute combined deterioration environments, established acceleration condition and cycle for combined deterioration environments has a resemblance to environments which are real structures placed. After that to confirm corrosion properties of reinforced concrete due to permeability with covering depth and types of surface cover under combined deterioration environments, measured carbonation velocity coefficients, chloride ion diffusion coefficients, water absorption coefficients, air permeability coefficients and electric potential, corrosion area ratio, weight reduction, corrosion velocity of steel bar. The results showed that an increase in age also decrease carbonation velocity coefficients, increase Chloride ion diffusion coefficients and increases water absorption coefficients. As well, an increase in age also increases corrosion of steel bar. Data on the development of corrosion velocity of steel bar with types of surface cover made with none, organic B, organic A, inorganic B, and inorganic A is shown. As well, permeability and corrosion velocity of steel bar with covering depth is superior to 10mm than 20mm. And it is confirmed permeability and corrosion properties of steel bar are closely related.

  • The purpose of this syudy is to set up a proper repair plan and to extend the remaining lifetime of them by measuring the remaining lifetime of reinforced concrete structures quantitatively. This method is based on the actual research on age deterioration, carbonation depth and covering depth of the reinforced concrete structures. Also, it measure the remaining lifetime through quantitatively defining the probability of steel corrosion by the damage of steel corrosion. By doing that, we proceed the proper repair plan after reviewing the possibility of lifetime extension.

  • This study analyzed fire-resistant characteristics according to changes in repair methods of PFH mixed high-strength concrete roof structures having undergone fire damage. The results of the study are as follows. First, as a repulsive characteristics of structures, the remaining repulsion was shown to increase following fire-resistance tests according to increases in depth of coverings. The results of the relationship between depth of coverings and remaining repulsion rates following fire-proofing tests showed a high correlation. At a covering depth of 67.3mm, remaining repulsion rate was estimated to be 100%. For fire-resistant characteristics following repairs of structure, as for spalling, severe separation was shown in the case of general plaster while general plaster + Metal Lath showed overall superior spalling prevention. For internal structure temperatures, general plaster showed max temperatures of 705℃, average temperatures of 636℃ while general plaster + metal lath showed max temperature of 660℃ and average temperature of 520℃, demonstrating lower temperature distributions than use of only general plaster. In conclusion, after removing the covering of structures damaged due to high temperatures of fires within high-strength concrete installations, the use of fire-resistant mortars and applying metal laths on surfaces of general plaster will provide superior fire-resistance performance in the occurrence of a 2nd fire.

  • The purpose of the research is to assess the accuracy of steel bar detector among other nondestructive testing equipment. The result of previous research shows that the average errors of rebar detector are 14.7% for the cover depth, 2.3% for the rebar spacing, and 11% for the rebar diameter. But this experiment was performed at the laboratory and the mortar was used for covering the steel bars instead of concrete. In situ condition can be different from the laboratory's so the outcomes do not correspond with those of laboratory. This research was performed at the buildings to be reconstructed. Nondestructive and destructive testing can be performed side by side since the building if to be destroyed. Steel bar detector was operated on the beam and the column and concrete cover of those members was removed for the actual measurement of rebar depth, spacing, and diameter finally, presumed value can be directly compared with actual data.

  • Concrete can be used semi-permanently unless the steel is corroded. However, the concrete exposed to the marine environment is exposed to sea breeze, so chloride ions penetrate into the concrete and the steel is corroded accordingly. In order to solve these problems, there is a method of increasing the covering depth of the concrete and an application of the epoxy paint to the steel. In this study, the hydrotalcite type corrosion inhibitor was mixed with the concrete and the compressive strength, chloride diffusion coefficient and the corrosion properties of the steel were examined.

  • Top-down construction is a construction technique in which pit excavation and structure construction are conducted simultaneously. Reducing construction time and minimizing noise and vibration which affect neighboring structures, the technique is widely employed in constructing downtown structures. While H-steel columns have been commonly used as core columns, concrete filled steel tube (CFT) columns are at the center of attention because the latter have less axial directionality and greater cross-sectional efficiency than the former. When compared with circular CFT columns, square CFT columns are more easily connected to the floor structure and the area of percussion rotary drilling (PRD) is smaller. For this reason, square CFT columns are used as core columns of concrete encased and filled square (CET) columns in underground floors. However, studies on the structural behavior and concrete stress transfer of CET columns have not been conducted. Since concrete is cast according to construction sequence, checking the stress of concrete inside the core columns and the stress of covering concrete is essential. This paper presents the results of structural tests and analyses conducted to evaluate the usability and safety of CET columns in top-down construction where CFT columns are used as core columns. Parameters in the tests are loading condition, concrete strength and covering depth. The compressive load capacity and failure behavior of specimens are evaluated. In addition, 2 cases of field application of CET columns in underground floors are analyzed.

  • The purpose of this research is to secure fundamental data on the application of fibre as a fire resistance method for more than 60 MPa high-strength concrete through an examination of mechanical properties and fire resistance performance. The results are as follows: 1) When there are less than 0.5~1.0kg/$m^3$ contents of PP and NY fibre for 60MPa and less high strength concrete, 1.0kg/$m^3$ contents of PP and NY fibre for less than 80MPa high strength concrete and 1.5kg/$m^3$ contents of NY fibre for more than 80MPa high strength concrete, the effect of fibre contents on workability and strength development is not significant. 2) Based on the result of a 3-hour fire resistance test for mock-up column, it is necessary to secure 50 mm of covering depth for the regulation of fire resistance performance of high strength concrete to the standards of The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs. 3) It is necessary to secure more than 400mm of column size for stable fire resistance performance.

  • As KCI under U.S.D is impossible to calculate all sections compared P-M Interaction Curve of the circular concrete column under EC2 of limit state design and KCI. Result of the construction, P-M Interaction Curve according to design for standard is about the same. If a covering depth rased, EC2 is better safety than KCI.
