  • This study considers the Gagye(Added Hair) style shown in ancient Goguryeo Murals and examines its values and significance through an in-depth study on the relevance to the style of China. In Gagye style, the Korean Hwan-gye(Round-rolled Hair) hair type was different from that of China in letting the hair down and using accessories. The Korean Sseu-gye(Covered Hair) hair type features textile-made and Bokbal (Covered hair) styles. The Korean Go-gye(Highly-rolled up Hair) hair type was different from that of China in style and volume. The Korean Da-gye(Multi-laid Hair) hair type was different from that of China in component pattern in that the Korean Da-gye type was composed of two or three gyes. Eoneun meori (Braided & Coiled Hair) features the unique Goguryeo pattern in which "Che" was placed on the head and the hair was braided down on the sides of the face. Therefore, the Gagye style of Goguryeo Murals was localized and developed through cultural interchange between Goguryeo and China. It also features its own values and significance in Korea's clothing history.

  • Propagation of the generalized Rayleigh waves in an initially stressed elastic half-space covered by an elastic layer is investigated. It is assumed that the initial stresses are caused by the uniformly distributed normal compressional forces acting on the face surface of the covering layer. Two different cases where the compressional forces are "dead" and "follower" forces are considered. Three-dimensional linearized theory of elastic waves in initially stressed bodies in plane-strain state is employed and the elasticity relations of the materials of the constituents are described through the Murnaghan potential where the influence of the third order elastic constants is taken into consideration. The dispersion equation is derived and an algorithm is developed for numerical solution to this equation. Numerical results for the dispersion of the generalized Rayleigh waves on the influence of the initial stresses and on the influence of the character of the external compressional forces are presented and discussed. These investigations provide some theoretical foundations for study of the near-surface waves propagating in layered mechanical systems with a liquid upper layer, study of the structure of the soil of the bottom of the oceans or of the seas and study of the behavior of seismic surface waves propagating under the bottom of the oceans.

  • Moon Jae-in Care can be seen as a 2.0 version of Roh Moo-Hyun Care. Just as Roh Care failed to achieve its coverage rate goal and 30% share of public beds, Moon Care also failed to achieve its expected goal. The reason is that it followed Roh Care's failed strategy. Failure to control non-covered services has led to a long way to achieve a 70% coverage rate and induced the expansion of voluntary indemnity insurance, resulting in increased public burden. The universal coverage of non-covered services caused an immediate backlash from doctors. And Moon government also failed to control the private insurance market. The expansion of publicly owned beds has not become realized and has not obtained public support. Above all, it failed to overcome the resistance of doctors and failed to obtain consent from budget power groups in the cabinet for public investment. It was also insufficient to win the support of civic groups. Communication with interested groups failed and the role of private health care providers was neglected. The next government should also continue to strengthen health care coverage, but it should prioritize preventing medical poor and create a consensus with both medical providers and consumers for the control of non-covered services. Ahead of the super-aged society, the establishment of linkage between medical services and long-term care and visiting health care or welfare services is an important task. All public and private provisions and resources should be utilized in the view of a comprehensive public health perspective, and public investment should be input in sectors where public medical institutions can perform more effective functions. The next government, which will be launched in 2022, should design a new paradigm for health care in the face of a period of transformation, such as the coming super-aged society in 2026 and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and recognize that the capabilities of the health care system represent the nation's overall capacity.

  • A novel technique was proposed to calculate fluxes accurately by separation of flow area into a part of step face which is dominated by flow resistance of it and an upper part which is relatively less affected by the step face in analyzing shallow-water flows over discontinuous topography. This technique gives fairly good agreement with exact solutions, 3D simulations, and experimental results. It has been possible to directly analyze shallow-water flows over discontinuous topography by the technique developed in this study. It is expected to apply the developed technique to accurate evaluation of overflows over weirs or retaining walls (riverside roads) and areas flooded by the inundation in the city covered in discontinuous topography.

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to suggest some improvement ideas based on the validity and the reliability analyses of the current safety culture measurement method applied to the Korean nuclear power industry. Background: Wrong safety culture is known as one of the major causes of the disasters such as the space shuttle Columbia disaster or the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant accident. Assessment of safety culture of an organization is important to build a safer organizational environment as well as to identify the risks hidden in the organization. Method: A face validity of the current safety culture measurement method was analyzed by comparison of the key factors of safety culture in the Korean nuclear power industry with those factors reviewed in the previous studies. The current interview method was analyzed to identify the problems which degrade the consistency of evaluation. Results: Most safety culture factors reviewed in the literatures are covered in the list of the Korean nuclear power industry safety culture factors. However the unstructured questions used in the interview may result in inconsistency of safety culture evaluation among interviewers. Conclusion: This study suggests some examples which might improve the consistency of interviewers' evaluation on safety culture such as a post interview evaluation form. Application: An extended post interview evaluation form might help to increase the accuracy of the interviewing method for Korean nuclear industry safety culture evaluation.

  • This study is about women's veils from Chosen period housed in various museums and see how they reflect the escalating inequality between the two sexes based on Confucianism and its social ramifications including the strict rules that kept women from freely communicating or staying in same quarters with men from tender age. I first visited various museums to see what kind of veils they had in their collections and then looked at reproductions, museum catalogues, and other studies to get a better understanding of the designs, colors, and fabrics of the veils in each collection and came to following conclusions:. 1. I looked at 26 veils of 7 different sues both in person and in museum catalogues, and they included a Neouls,3 Myunsas, l2Jahngots,4 Chuneuis,1 Sahkgat 3Junmos, and 1 Garima. Various documents attest to the existence of one more style of veil,1. e. skirt-shaped veil, but there was no specimen of the type. 2. Museums had various types of veils for women, but most of them dated from late Chosun period. 3. Female veils in Chosun period had dearly-defined characteristics depending on their wearers. Each type had its own fabric color, and form, so one could tell the status of the wearer just by looking at it 4. The veils that I found at museums around the country had following characteristics: . Neoul was worn by high-class women and it covered up the face better than other types of veils. Myunsa was also caned Myunsapo, and it featured brilliant gold foils to mark the salted status of the wearer. Jahngot was originally a robe for both sexes but it turned into a type of veil for low-class females in late am period and there were more Jangots in museum collections than my other type of veils. Chuneui has various styles and it has a cotton lining so low-class women wore it to both cover the face and to stay worn Sahkgat was worn by low-class women for its convenience. Junmo was elaborately decorated and showy, and it was worn by courtesans. Garima was worn by courtesans or professional women in medicine, and unlike other type of veils, it showed the face of the wearer.

  • Recently, active movements are occurring to reestablish our own traditional Korean images in all levels of society. One of them is about Ordinary Hanbok. Academics and business sectors are endeavoring to develop comfortable and Korean traditional Hanbok designs and popularize them as well. Based on the facts, the study focuses on developing Ordinary Hanbok designs for women by applying Korean traditional patchwork in order to present handmade, humane senses. First of all, the backgrounds, history and preference of Ordinary Hanbok are discussed through literatures and precedent studies as study methodology. Then, the study is analyzing the formative beauty of Korean traditional patchwork that contains emotions of women in the Chosun Dynasty. After that, it shows Ordinary Hanbok designs developed for women by using checks, free style, and yeoiju patterns of the fabrics dyed with clay and Chinese ink that recently attract people in particular. The results are like followings; First, the limits that excessive transformation of Hanbok may cause the lack of traditional beauty can be covered through using a variety of images of Korean traditional patchwork. Second, diverse face configuration of patchworks has very unique geometric forms so to be easily applied to modern Ordinary Hanbok designs. Third, the sewing technique of patchworks also plays a role as a design factor as important as face configuration. Fourth, utilizing fabric pieces may result in various unplanned face configuration and help resource recycling. Fifth, it is possible to coordinate Hanbok with other ordinary clothes that people normally wear on. Sixth, using patchworks images can encourage developing more active and refined designs added with traditional beauty. Seventh, natural dying and fabrics are eco-friendly, which is good for human health and environment. Finally, more studies should be done on design development based on precedent studies about Ordinary Hanbok. Also, it is important to foster social atmosphere and circumstances where people accept wearing Ordinary Hanbok as our natural culture.

  • The paper presents implementation & evaluation of survey method with tilted transducer of Multi Beam Echo Sounder (MBES) to increase horizontal & vertical coverage over obstructed port environments with limited physical properties of MBES. Proposed method ($25^{\circ}$ titled transducer) have some discrepancy of bathymetric profiles between normal and tilting method, but we proved average difference is less than IHO Special Order requirements with survey data at port of Dong Ho Port, Masan, Korea. For horizontal mapping coverage of total survey area ($114,961m^2$), normal method covered 53%, $60,895m^2$ of total area but tilting method covered 75%, $5.933m^2$. It is 22% efficient than normal method with similar environments. For vertical mapping coverage of total vertical structure face ($7,421m^2$), normal method covered 14%, $1,046m^2$, proposed methods covered 60%, $4,450m^2$. And we adapt longitudal steel bar to validate MBES results, and provide calibration method with titled transducer of MBES.

  • Prymnesium patelliferum was collected from Hwajinpo, South Korea in November 2002. This is the first record of P. patelliferum in Korea waters. The characteristic shape of P. patelliferum was that of a rice grain. Cells were sub spherical or elongate, and sometimes slightly compressed. The motile cells of P. patelliferum (8-10 ㎛ long, 5-6 ㎛ broad) prossessed two equal or sub equal flagella(10.5-13 ㎛) and a short non-coiling haptonema (3-5 ㎛). The cell was covered by two layers of organic scales, which were important taxonomic characteristics. Internal scales were a narrow inflexed rim on the distal face, a thickening central and radial fibrillar pattern. External scales were very similar to internal scales with relatively tall upright rims. The ridges were in quadrants with 11-12 ridges per quadrant.
