A Series Feeding Cross-Aperture Coupled Microstrip Antenna for Improving Axial Ratio Bandwidth of Circular Polarization (원형편파의 축비 대역폭 개선을 위한 직렬 급전 십자개구 결합 마이크로스트립 안테나)

  • In this paper, a novel series feeding cross-aperture coupled microstrip antenna with the effect of hybrid feeding is proposed and demonstrated experimentally to improve narrow axial ratio bandwidth of cross-aperture coupled antenna with single feeding among the various methods for generating circular polarization. The validity of a proposed series feeding cross-aperture coupled microstrip antenna is shown by comparing experimental results between the reported and the proposed microstrip antenna, and 2${\times}$2 array microstrip antenna based on the proposed single microstrip antenna used sequential rotation technique to accomplish broader axial ratio bandwidth. In the proposed single and 2${\times}$2 array microstrip antenna, the measured axial ratio bandwidths are 110 ㎒(4.6%) and 420 ㎒(17.5%), maximum gains are 8.2 ㏈i and 12.5 ㏈i, 3 dB gain bandwidths are above 400 ㎒(16.7%), and impedance bandwidths for the VSWR<1.5 are 240 ㎒(10%) and 500 ㎒(20.8%), respectively.

  • In this paper, dual-polarized 2${\times}$2 array antenna is designed and fabricated for the polarization diversity applications in wireless LAN system. For the improved bandwidth and isolation characteristics, the aperture coupled feeding and the L-shaped probe feeding are employed for each polarization. The measured bandwidths of the fabricated antenna are 210MHz for aperture coupled feeding and 280MHz for L-shaped probe feeding. The isolation for two ports is -40dB and the antenna gain is measured as 14.3${\pm}$0.2dBi in the operating frequency band of wireless LAN.

Design of Small CRPA Arrays with Circular Microstrip Loops for Electromagnetically Coupled Feed

  • This paper proposes a design of small controlled reception pattern antenna (CRPA) arrays using circular microstrip loops with frequency-insensitive characteristics. The proposed array consists of seven identical upper and lower circular loops that are electromagnetically coupled, which results in a frequency-insensitive behavior. To demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed feeding mechanism, the proposed array is fabricated, and its antenna characteristics are measured in a full-anechoic chamber. The operating principle of the proposed feeding mechanism is then interpreted using an equivalent circuit model, and the effectiveness of the circular loop shape is demonstrated by calculating near electromagnetic fields in proximity to the radiator. The results confirm that the proposed feeding mechanism is suitable to have frequency-insensitive behavior and induces strong electric and magnetic field strengths for higher radiation gain in extremely small antenna arrays.

  • This paper proposed the novel method that can realize the parallel coupled line(PCL) band-pass filter with directly coupled feeding structure by means of transforming the first and last PCL sections of the conventional PCL band-pass filter into K-inverters, then substituting T-type equivalence for K-inverter. The proposed method supplies simple design formulae and can considerably reduce time and efforts needed to optimize filter performance when compared to reported methods using external Q or equivalent parameters. On the basis of the proposed method, the band-pass filter using directly coupled feeding structure and having 18% fractional bandwidth was designed and fabricated. The validity of proposed method was proven by the measured result.

  • In this paper, we propose DLP(Dual Linear Polarization) antenna with aperture coupled feeding structure for private network. The proposed antenna has general aperture coupled structure and design two port between top and bottom layer to obtain the enhanced isolation. Also, The size of each substrate(top and bottom layer) is 34.0 mm(W)×34.0 mm(L), which is designed on the FR-4 substrate which thickness (h) is 1.0 mm, and the dielectric constant is 4.4. Also, the size of patch antenna is 12.70 mm(W2)×14.60 mm(L3), and it is located on the top layer. The size of feeding line is 24.0 mm(W2)×1.6 mm(L3), and is located at the bottom layer Also, rectangular slot is located on the ground plane between top layer and bottom layer. From the fabrication and measurement results, bandwidths of 300 MHz (4.52 to 4.82 GHz) for feeding port 1, and 170 MHz (4.65 to 4.82 GHz) for feeding port 2 are obtained on the basis of -10 dB return loss and transmission coefficient S21 is got under the -30 dB.   • This paper proposed the band pass filter(BPF) with feeding structure using $\pi$-type transmission line by means of transforming the input/output coupled-lines of the half wavelength parallel coupled-line BPF into K-inverter, then substituting $\pi$-type transmission line equivalence for K-inverter. The proposed method supplies solution with what the half wavelength parallel coupled-line BPF's input/output coupled-lines are realized. Also it can quite reduce efforts and time needed to optimize filter performance when is compared to reported method using tapped line structure because formulas is very simple and accurate. On the basic of the proposed method, the BPF with feeding structure using $\pi$-type transmission line has been designed and fabricated. The validity of proposed method was proven by the measured result.

  • This paper presents the design and fabrication of a shaped-beam array antenna which will be used for a PCS basestation using structure that is coupled to a microstrip line by an aperture on the interening ground plane. The shaped-beam pattern is obtained by an antenna synthesis method. An array antenna considering the mutual coupling between array elements patches) and a feeding network are designed by CAD tools. The feeding network is designed by using the Wilkinson power divider to obtain the optimized shaped-beam. The designed results are compared with the measured data.

  • 대면적 디스플레이나 태양전지를 만들기 위해 식각 공정에 주로 이용되는 capacitively coupled plasma 장비의 크기에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 특히, RF power를 사용함에 따라 높은 주파수로 올라갈수록 전극에 발생하는 standing wave effect로 인해 챔버 안의 전자기장의 세기가 균일하지 않고 그로 인해 plasma의 밀도 역시 균일하지 않다.[1] 이러한 plasma의 non-uniformity를 전극에 들어가는 power의 feeding 방법을 바꿔 가면서 해결해 보려고 하였다. ($0.48\;m\;{\times}\;0.48\;m$)크기의 사각전극과 50 MHz의 RF power를 사용하였다. plasma의 분포는 ion probe를 통해 살펴 보았다.

  • An inductive loaded microstrip patch antenna using aperture coupled feeding is designed and an impedance bandwidth enhancement method using a shunt stub is investigated. The -10 dB impedance bandwidth of the AIMPA with a shunt stub is increased up to about 5.51 %. The impedance bandwidth of the corresponding AIMPA without a shunt stub is 2.4 %. The increase of the impedance bandwidth of the AIMPA with a shunt stub is about 129.6 % compared to that of the corresponding AIMPA without a shunt stub.
