  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the curricula of counseling-related departments in 35 offline colleges and 20 cyber colleges to analyze improvement points and development directions. Curriculum was analyzed with educational goals, open subjects, practice, and operation process. As a result of the study, the terms 'professional counselor, psychologist, and professional counselor' were used the most frequently in the educational goals of the department using the term 'counseling'. In the subjects, the most frequently opened courses were in the first year in counseling basics, in the second year in counseling theory and technique, in the third in psychological evaluation, in the second in statistics and research, and in the fourth in counseling practice. Counseling theory and practice, counseling process and interview technique are operated in the lower grades, and counseling practice, supervision, counseling practice and case study, and domestic and foreign internships were mostly operated in the fourth grade. Based on the above, we will discuss the improvement points and development direction of the curriculum of departments that use the term 'consultation' in offline and online universities.

  • Objectives: Korean Medicine Doctors (KMDs) have treated patients with obesity using a holistic approach with a multicomponent approach on counseling. However, there is currently no data regarding KMDs' counseling practices for weight loss. We conducted a retrospective chart review to better understand the Korean medicine counseling practice for weight loss. Methods: Twenty-one KMDs were involved in this project as practitioners. The contents of counseling were categorized based on patterns according to the counseling manual for the standardized management of obesity in Korean Medicine. Results: The counseling was conducted based on the theory of Korean medicine and the contents of counseling were different from patterns. However, the quality of the counseling were different from each KMD, and the counseling were focused on evaluating patient conditions and not on providing specific recommendations for lifestyle changes. Conclusions: Therefore, specific guidance of counseling for healthier lifestyle and dietary habits, and the training of the standardized manual training are needed.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a motivational interviewing (MI) training program to improve competency in communication and to effect the evaluated changes that would occur in dental students' counseling techniques as result of the training in the program. The study proceeded through the program via role-play practice, which was explained effectively during the MI program training process. A convenience sample of 43 fourth-year dental hygiene students was recruited. Twenty-two students were randomly assigned to the intervention group and 21 to the control group in the order of recruitment. The theoretical lecture was delivered over 3 hours and the practice was done in parallel by applying cases occurring in clinic settings. The practice was technical training, partner practice, and small group practice. The intervention group received three hour MI lecture while the control group received no lecture. Evaluation through role-play practice was separated according to "researcher's viewpoint," "counselor's role viewpoint," and "patient's role viewpoint." The results of the analysis showed that the intervention group had higher MI skills and ability than the control group. Furthermore, program participants showed positive impressions to the MI training program. The use of coaching sessions improved the MI techniques and counseling skills of dental hygiene students learning MI. The effect of the application of the MI training program was that the MI training improved counseling skills and interviewing abilities. Moreover, continuous training and feedback enhanced MI techniques and core skills. Training using lectures in parallel with practice rather than education through theory alone improved students' techniques. Application of role play through the combined method of the MI program was confirmed by an effective training method.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to provide fundamental information for a system establishment of advanced practice nursing for gynecological cancer patients (APN-GCP). Method: Data was collected by focus group and individual interviews and analyzed in the framework of the Grounded theory method mapped by Strauss and Corbin (1990). There were 13 subjects in this study (nurses, doctors, patient and her family). Result: We identified 87 concepts, 22 sub-categories, and 10 categories. Categories for role expectation were arrangement of diagnosis and treatment process, giving information of treatment course, support of treatment process, patients' right toward making a decision of treatment, counseling and teaching after discharge from hospital, medical insurance and financial problems, counseling about sexual problems and use of family and community resources. All subjects perceived the necessity of an APN-GCP. An APN-GCP requires over 2$\sim$7 years clinical experience and a master's degree. Services would be performed from initial registration to termination of treatment or death, and accomplished on an outpatient clinic basis. Conclusion: The nursing delivery system and curriculum should be developed for a women's health nurse practitioner including APN-GCP. As a further step, cost-effectiveness and projected estimation of manpower of APN-GCP should be studied in the future.

  • The purpose of study is to provide efficient initial approaches for counseling in social work practice settings. First, it attempts to identify the correlation between the Myers-Brigg's Type Indicator(MBTI), a personality index based on the theory of psychological typology, and Personality Adaptation Types(PAT) models. Second, it attempts to develop a counseling method which can be applied to the initial interview, using the paradigm of door to therapy such as "Open Door", "Target Door", and "Trap Door" based on the PAT theory. The result of the quantitative study showed the correlation between MBTI and PAT as follows: MBTI Extrovert and Feeling(E, F) type was statistically correlated to hysterical PAT. MBTI Extrovert, Intuition and Perceiving(E, N, P) type was statistically correlated to Obsessive-Compulsive PAT. In conclusion, this study finds that when a clinical social worker approaches a client with the client's MBTI personality type and an interventional personality adaptation theory approach such as "Open Door", "Target Door", or "Trap Door", the efficiency of communication is increased significantly.

This is the era of evangelism as a spiritual care where the church can comfort those who are struggling and share the gospel naturally by accompanying them, and the time has come to set and practice various ministry directions that combine Christian education and counseling. At this time, this paper aims to analyze not only in the area of counseling, but also studies and papers on professional ministry through a convergence and complex approach between Christian education and counseling. This study focused on the papers on practical trials and cases. The research contents to be dealt with include the concept and understanding of counseling in Christian education, the application of counseling as various Christian education methods, and the development of programs necessary for the field. In addition, the purpose of this study is to analyze what kind of trend characteristics the subjects developed in advance show, what kind of trend characteristics research methodologies were used in the preceding studies, and what are the issues and tasks of Christian education and counseling based on the subject and method analysis. This study aims to analyze various influences on Korean society by meta-analyzing the discourse and issues of Christian education and counseling developed in the field of Christian education in Korea and suggest the convergence and direction of counseling in the field of Christian education in the future. The subjects were made to answer nine questionnaires. Results: It was found that the theory and practice of the main works operated quite differently in lectures and practice in each school. All types of practice were applied to all schools in the case of 'scaling'. The evaluation of clinical practice was also found to be very different from school to school. Conclusions: For dental hygienists to establish expertise in clinical practice and promote quality improvement, it is necessary to develop a core curriculum focusing on clinical practice. The standardized curriculum should be improved to an efficient and competency-centered one defining clearly the role of dental hygienists considering the needs and importance of clinical practice.
