  • Consumers' perception of risk plays a major role in how they make online purchase decisions. Since online shopping is perceived to be riskier than in-store shopping, consumers engage in a variety of risk reduction strategies such as searching online for alternative products and alternative e-tailers. This study examines the influence of risk involvement on risk reduction strategies and customer satisfaction. It discusses three aspects of risk reduction strategies: time spent in making a purchasing decision, searching for alternative e-tailers, and searching for alternative products. Data from 294 female shoppers who had experience in purchasing fashion products online was analyzed. This study found that risk involvement had a positive influence on the time spent in making decisions, while the influence of risk involvement on searching for alternative retailers and alternative products was not significant. However, consumer satisfaction was negatively related to search for alternative retailers and positively related to risk involvement. This study provides a better understanding of customers' risk involvement and risk reduction strategies in online shopping. This information would be beneficial for marketers and retailers to reduce customer perception of risks and to promote online sales.

Light plays a role in everyday life functionally and aesthetically. We can use the light in many different ways in order to enhance the beauty of the designs. The purpose of this study is to suggest sensible designs with the active expression of light reflection. The designs are especially focused on utilizing light that shows the combination between natural human body's movement and reflection of the light. The use of reflective materials shows the character of movement when it exposes to light. The methods allow to amplify the aesthetic effects of the designs. Reflective materials were used in the resulting design to show the various effects of light by applying the movement which is artistic and aesthetic pleasing aspect for the clothing. The movement is accentuated when the wearer moves, or the air flows through the adding materials on the clothing. In addition, the beads attached to the end of the springs to show the movement of the light. The combination of the spring and the light movement resulted in a dazzling effect. I hope in the future, more studies will be conducted to further use of fiber optics and other innovative ways to use light in fashion.

  • As a typical subculture, Goth exercises influence on our culture in broad areas. Features of Gothic style, such as dark aesthetics, images of death and fear, and erotic horrification, emerged as attractive themes to contemporary fashion designs. Based on the dark attraction of black color, Goth fashion creates mysterious and fantastic atmosphere as well as grotesque and horrifying mood. 'Hallyu' or Korean wave is a term to describe the phenomenon of fervently loving Korean popular culture. As the fast spreading Hallyu is strongly engraved through the visually conspicuous fashion, we can say that fashion plays important role in diffusing Hallyu. In addition, a number of analyses and researches on the Hallyu, including K-pop, have been conducted, while concentrating keen interest in fashion of Hallyu K-pop stars. Accordingly, this study is designed to examine relations between fashion of K-pop stars and Goth fashion after analyzing features of Hallyu and K-pop and contemplating Goth fashion. Namely, this study will analyze various Goth images shown in K-pop fashion, which is the core of Hallyu, and identify aesthetic features of Goth shown in the fashion of K-pop stars. An investigation and analysis of the Goth images shown in the fashion of K-pop stars identifies the following features : a black aesthetic, eroticism, defiance, reversal of gender identity, and mystery.

  • The movie costumes, artistic and figurative, serve to maximize the dramatic conveying effect of the movie's theme, actor's character, and the image of a dramatic situation expressed through clothing. It is considered that research would be meaningful if it studied on how the movie costumes are implied with symbols in order to present a dramatic image depending on the situation. Therefore this research compared, analyzed, and interpreted the historical plays produced on historical backgrounds, "The Sword With No Name" and 'Elizabeth - Golden Age'. In other words, five dramatic situations were extracted in order to compare and analyze the costumes of Empress Myeongseong to the costumes of Queen Elizabeth. The costumes presented according to the storyline and the personalities of the two characters with these five as the basis are compared and analyzed, and the implied symbolic meaning could be interpreted and analogized based on the results. Therefore it is suggested that symbolic meaning, along with the expression of the dramatic atmosphere, needs to be implied in the design of the movie costumes.

  • This study aims to classify women's undergarments of the 20th century by periods, and to examine their characteristics. The research method consists of a literature study based on relevant documentary records and a demonstrative analysis of graphic data collected from each reference. The features of women's undergarments obtained from the study are as follows: First, silhouette changes of outer garments appear to influence the type and style of a new undergarment. Second, technological development results in a new type of undergarments. Third, the development of new material appears to influence functions and design of undergarments. Fourth, social changes including the development of sports affects the changes of undergarments. As seen so far, the form or type, material, and color in undergarment diversify when fashion changes become varied and rapid. As shown before the 20th century, the importance of undergarment's type, form, and function gradually reduces according to the changes of women's mind due to their social participation, although it still plays a role in correcting the shape of an outer garment based on the outer silhouette. The design also clearly shows the extremes of maximization and minimization of decoration.

  • All aspects of clothing, including color, are a visible form of expression that carries invisible value. The purpose of this work is to study the expression of resistance in the white Hanbok in modern culture, specifically after the 1980s. Koreans have traditionally revered white color and enjoyed wearing white clothes. In Korea, white represents simplicity, asceticism, sadness, resistance against corruption, and the pursuit of innocence. This paper looks at: (i) the universal and traditional values of the color white, (ii) the significance of traditional white Korean clothing, (iii) the resistance characteristics of white in traditional Korean clothes, and (iv) the aesthetic values of white Hanbok. The white Hanbok often connotes resistance when it is worn in modern Korea. It is worn in folk plays, worn by shamans as a shamanist costume, worn by protestors for anti-establishment movements, and worn by social activists or progressive politicians. The fact that the white Hanbok has lost its position as an everyday dress in South Korea (instead symbolizing resistance when it is worn) is an unusual phenomenon. It shows that the white Hanbok, as a type of costume, is being used as a strong means of expression, following a change in the value of traditional costumes as it take on an expressive function.
