As the demand of nuclear power plant equipment is continuously growing worldwide, the importance of handling nuclear strategic materials is also increasing. While the number of cases submitted for the exports of nuclear-power commodity and technology is dramatically increasing, preadjudication (or prescreening to be simple) of strategic materials has been done so far by experts of a long-time experience and extensive field knowledge. However, there is severe shortage of experts in this domain, not to mention that it takes a long time to develop an expert. Because human experts must manually evaluate all the documents submitted for export permission, the current practice of nuclear material export is neither time-efficient nor cost-effective. Toward alleviating the problem of relying on costly human experts only, our research proposes a new system designed to help field experts make their decisions more effectively and efficiently. The proposed system is built upon case-based reasoning, which in essence extracts key features from the existing cases, compares the features with the features of a new case, and derives a solution for the new case by referencing similar cases and their solutions. Our research proposes a framework of case-based reasoning system, designs a case-based reasoning system for the control of nuclear material exports, and evaluates the performance of alternative keyword extraction methods (full automatic, full manual, and semi-automatic). A keyword extraction method is an essential component of the case-based reasoning system as it is used to extract key features of the cases. The full automatic method was conducted using TF-IDF, which is a widely used de facto standard method for representative keyword extraction in text mining. TF (Term Frequency) is based on the frequency count of the term within a document, showing how important the term is within a document while IDF (Inverted Document Frequency) is based on the infrequency of the term within a document set, showing how uniquely the term represents the document. The results show that the semi-automatic approach, which is based on the collaboration of machine and human, is the most effective solution regardless of whether the human is a field expert or a student who majors in nuclear engineering. Moreover, we propose a new approach of computing nuclear document similarity along with a new framework of document analysis. The proposed algorithm of nuclear document similarity considers both document-to-document similarity (${\alpha}$) and document-to-nuclear system similarity (${\beta}$), in order to derive the final score (${\gamma}$) for the decision of whether the presented case is of strategic material or not. The final score (${\gamma}$) represents a document similarity between the past cases and the new case. The score is induced by not only exploiting conventional TF-IDF, but utilizing a nuclear system similarity score, which takes the context of nuclear system domain into account. Finally, the system retrieves top-3 documents stored in the case base that are considered as the most similar cases with regard to the new case, and provides them with the degree of credibility. With this final score and the credibility score, it becomes easier for a user to see which documents in the case base are more worthy of looking up so that the user can make a proper decision with relatively lower cost. The evaluation of the system has been conducted by developing a prototype and testing with field data. The system workflows and outcomes have been verified by the field experts. This research is expected to contribute the growth of knowledge service industry by proposing a new system that can effectively reduce the burden of relying on costly human experts for the export control of nuclear materials and that can be considered as a meaningful example of knowledge service application.

The diesel driven power generation facility provides most of electricity of island region where is isolated from the main land power supply system. It is possible to extend the life of diesel driven power generation facility by periodic maintenance. However, the long-term use of diesel driven power generation facility increases the operating cost due to aging hardware and reduced plant efficiency. In other words, on-time replacement of aging diesel driven power generation facility reduces plant operation cost. The purpose of this study presents major indicators to represent the characteristics of the diesel generator and conducts sensitivity analysis using Monte Carlo analysis. In addition, status core which indicates quantitatively the state of the diesel driven power generation facility is defined and prepare the replacement criteria based on the state score.
Purpose: This study was carried out to accumulate basic data for nursing intervention development by evaluating the stress and emotional status of patients and their families after receiving hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), illucidating and analysing related factors in order to decrease the negative effects of HSCT on their emotion. Methods: Data were collected using a questionnaire to 53 HSCT patients and 50 families, who were older than 18 at tertiary-care institutions in Seoul, from January, 2000 to August, 2003. Results: There was a significant score difference in stress (t=-2.302, P<0.05). Correlation between stress and emotional status was statistically significant (r=0.486, P<0.01; r=0, P<0.05). Economical burden of cost had significant effects on stress of patients (F=4.194, P<0.05). The series of emotional status of patients without jobs were higher (T=-2.583, P<0.05). The emotional status of families were influenced by monthly income (F=4.036, P<0.05) and patients' diagnosis (F=3.088, P<0.05). Conclusion : These results suggest that the cares for families should be considered with great concern as well as the ones for patients. In addition, such factors as economical burden by medical cost, monthly income and job status should not be excluded in transplantation nursing plans.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree of satisfaction in using rehabilitation exercise rooms in public health centers. Background: Over the last few decades, because hospitals in South Korea also have undergone dramatic changes, Korean hospitals traditionally have provided specialized health care services in the health care market. Inner Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (IHI) measures hospital caseloads based on patient proportions, independent of patient volumes. However, IHI that rely solely on patient proportions might be problematic for larger hospitals that provide a high number of diagnosis categories, as the patient proportions in each category are naturally relatively smaller in such hospitals. Therefore, recently developed novel measure, category medical specialization (CMS) is based on patient volumes as well as patient proportions. Methods: We examine the distribution of hospital specialization score by hospital size and investigate association between each hospital specialization and length of stay per case and hospital cost per case using Korean National Health Insurance Service-cohort sample data from 2002 to 2013. Results: Our results show that IHI show a decreasing trend according to the number of beds and hospital type but CMS show an increasing trend according to the number of beds and hospital type. Further, inpatients admitted at hospitals with higher IHI and CMS had a shorter length of stay per case (IHI: B=-0.104, p<0.0001; CMS: B=-0.044, p=0.001) and inpatients admitted at hospitals with higher IHI and CMS had a shorter hospital cost per case (IHI: B=-0.110, p=0.002; CMS: B=-0.118, p=<0.0001). Conclusion: This study may help hospital policymakers and hospital administrators to understand the effects of hospital specialization strategy on hospital performance under recent changes in the Korean health care environment.
Purpose: The primary prevention for cervical cancer, the human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccination, has been available in South Korea and its importance has been emphasized publicly. The purpose of this study was to investigate the knowledge regarding HPV vaccination and identify the factors associated with HPV vaccination in female university students. Methods: A sample of 200 women among university students in Seoul was asked to answer a questionnaire on HPV-related knowledge and attitude, and influencing factors on HPV vaccination. Results: Among the respondents, 12.0% were HPV vaccinated. Overall HPV-related knowledge was low, and knowledge was not different between the vaccinated and unvaccinated groups. The vaccinated group demonstrated a higher score on the knowledge about the place where people could receive HPV vaccination and the cost of the vaccination than that of the unvaccinated group. The major influencing factor on vaccination was the parent's recommendation and the major barrier for vaccination was the cost of the vaccination. Conclusion: A broadened public campaign is recommended to increase the knowledge and positive attitude towards HPV vaccination for university female students as well as their parents.

This paper proposes a two-phase mathematical programming approach by considering classification gap to solve the proposed credit scoring problem so as to complement any theoretical shortcomings. Specifically, by using the linear programming (LP) approach, phase 1 is to make the associated decisions such as issuing grant of credit or denial of credit to applicants. or to seek any additional information before making the final decision. Phase 2 is to find a cut-off value, which minimizes any misclassification penalty (cost) to be incurred due to granting credit to 'bad' loan applicant or denying credit to 'good' loan applicant by using the mixed-integer programming (MIP) approach. This approach is expected to and appropriate classification scores and a cut-off value with respect to deviation and misclassification cost, respectively. Statistical discriminant analysis methods have been commonly considered to deal with classification problems for credit scoring. In recent years, much theoretical research has focused on the application of mathematical programming techniques to the discriminant problems. It has been reported that mathematical programming techniques could outperform statistical discriminant techniques in some applications, while mathematical programming techniques may suffer from some theoretical shortcomings. The performance of the proposed two-phase approach is evaluated in this paper with line data and loan applicants data, by comparing with three other approaches including Fisher's linear discriminant function, logistic regression and some other existing mathematical programming approaches, which are considered as the performance benchmarks. The evaluation results show that the proposed two-phase mathematical programming approach outperforms the aforementioned statistical approaches. In some cases, two-phase mathematical programming approach marginally outperforms both the statistical approaches and the other existing mathematical programming approaches.

Portable low-cost Kinect sensor was used to analyze standing balance ability of the elderly. Eighty subjects who can walk alone and have a normal cognitive level participated in this experiment. Based on Berg Balance scale (BBS) test with 52 points, subjects were divided into Healthy older (HO: 46 persons, BBS: $53.80{\pm}1.19$) and Impaired older (IO: 34 persons, BBS: $49.06{\pm}2.03$) group. Each subject performed 30 seconds four different standing balance tests (EO: Eyes Open, EC: Eyes Close, EOf: Eyes Open on foam, ECf: Eyes Close on foam). Five variables (Mean distance, Range of distance, Root mean square, Mean velocity, 95% ellipse area) were calculated from the hip joint center movement of Kinect sensor. Results showed that there were significant differences between groups for four different standing tests. Calculated variables from kinect sensor showed significant correlation with BBS score. Especially, mediolateral mean distance, mediolateral root mean square, mediolateral range of distance and 95% ellipse area showed discriminative ability for all tests. Mean values of variables of IO were higher than those of HO, which means the decreased balance ability in IO compared with HO. Therefore, it was possible to estimate simple balance assessment of the elderly using portable low-cost Kinect sensor.
Feature-based similarity retrieval has become an important research issue in multimedia database systems. The features of multimedia data are useful for discriminating between multimedia objects (e 'g', documents, images, video, music score, etc.). For example, images are represented by their color histograms, texture vectors, and shape descriptors, and are usually high-dimensional data. The performance of conventional multidimensional data structures(e'g', R- Tree family, K-D-B tree, grid file, TV-tree) tends to deteriorate as the number of dimensions of feature vectors increases. The R*-tree is the most successful variant of the R-tree. In this paper, we propose a SOM-based R*-tree as a new indexing method for high-dimensional feature vectors. The SOM-based R*-tree combines SOM and R*-tree to achieve search performance more scalable to high dimensionalities. Self-Organizing Maps (SOMs) provide mapping from high-dimensional feature vectors onto a two dimensional space. The mapping preserves the topology of the feature vectors. The map is called a topological of the feature map, and preserves the mutual relationship (similarity) in the feature spaces of input data, clustering mutually similar feature vectors in neighboring nodes. Each node of the topological feature map holds a codebook vector. A best-matching-image-list. (BMIL) holds similar images that are closest to each codebook vector. In a topological feature map, there are empty nodes in which no image is classified. When we build an R*-tree, we use codebook vectors of topological feature map which eliminates the empty nodes that cause unnecessary disk access and degrade retrieval performance. We experimentally compare the retrieval time cost of a SOM-based R*-tree with that of an SOM and an R*-tree using color feature vectors extracted from 40, 000 images. The result show that the SOM-based R*-tree outperforms both the SOM and R*-tree due to the reduction of the number of nodes required to build R*-tree and retrieval time cost.
