Performance of Adaptive Correlator using Recursive Least Square Backpropagation Neural Network in DS/SS Mobile Communication Systems (DS/SS 이동 통신에서 반복적 최소 자승 역전파 신경망을 이용한 적응 상관기)

  • In this paper, adaptive correlator model using backpropagation neural network based on complex multilayer perceptron is presented for suppressing interference of narrow-band of direct sequence spread spectrum receiver in CDMA mobile communication systems. Recursive least square backpropagation algorithm with backpropagation error is used for fast convergence and better performance in adaptive correlator scheme. According to signal noise ratio and transmission power ratio, computer simulation results show that bit error ratio of adaptive correlator uswing backpropagation neural network improved than that of adaptive transversal filter of direct sequence spread spectrum considering of co-channel and narrow-band interference. Bit error ratio of adaptive correlator using backpropagation neural network is reduced about $10^{-1}$ than that of adaptive transversal filter where interference versus signal ratio is 5 dB.

  • In this paper, we design the sliding correlator SS transceiver which supports short message service. We also analyze the PN code acquisition circuit that is essential for spread spectrum receiver. Using Maxplus II tool provided by altera Co., Ltd, we have designed PN code generator, and sliding correlator for PN code acquisition. Then, they have been made into FPGA by way of EPM7064SLC44-10 - a chip of Altera Co., Ltd. Additionally, we have designed delay clock circuit which is faster than the clock of Tx PN clock, designed switching circuit to control the clock rate and data demodulation circuit. The performance of the transceiver is evaluated from the experimental results. Especially, the performance of PN code acquisition accomplished by sliding correlator which is very important to evaluate spread spectrum receiver is evaluated with the comparison of the lock states.

  • We describe the design for a correlator and an access code generator in bluetooth system. These are used for a connection setting, a packet decision and a clock synchronization between Bluetooth units. The correlator consists of two blocks; carry save adder based on Wallace tree and threshold-value decision block. It determines on an useful packet and clock-synchronization for input signal of 1.0Mbps through the sliding-window correlating. The access-code generator also consists of two blocks; BCH(Bose-Chadhuri-Hocquenghem) cyclic encoder and control block. It generates the access-codes according to four steps' generation process based on Bluetooth standard. In order to solve synchronization problem, we make use of any memory as a pseudo random sequence. The proposed correlator and access-code generator were coded with VHDL. An FPGA Implementation of these modules and the simulation results are proved by Xilinx chip. The critical delay and correlative margin based on synthesis show the 4.689ns and the allowable correlation-error up to 7-bit.

  • A simple six-port direct conversion QPSK receiver which is made up of a six-port phase correlator, a signal power detector, and I/Q channel signal de-modulator is designed and implemented in this paper. The output phase signals of six-port phase correlator are also analysed. On the basis of $90^{\circ}C$ phase relation among the six-port phase correlator output signals, the QPSK de-modulation circuit is designed by a simple circuit. The six-port phase correlator is made up of $90^{\circ}$ hybrid branch line and power detector. The six-port phase correlator, which is designed in frequency range of 11.7 to 12.0 GHz, gets the phase error characteristics less than $5^{\circ}$. By considering matching network and amplitude balance in the designed fiequency range, the designed six-port direct conversion QPSK receiver demodulates the I and Q signals with performance less than $5^{\circ}$ phase error.

  • Because output of multi-code CDMA system adapted high speed data transmission becoming multi-level system use linear amplifier in output stage and complex output signal. Therefore, Multi-Code CDMA system has shortcoming of high price, high complexity etc. Binary CDMA technology that allow fetters in existing CDMA technology to supplement this shortcoming proposed. In binary CDMA system When correlator process high speed data, bottle-neck phenomenon is happened on synchronization acquisition process, it is very important parameter. Because existent correlator must there be advantage that power consumption is small but flow addition of several stages to receive correlation's value, the processing speed has disadvantage because the operation amount is much. Therefore in this paper, proposed correlator has characteristic such as data is able to high speed processing, chip area is independent and power consumption is constant in structure in binary CDMA system.

  • The WCHF-FSJTC (wavelet circular harmonic function frequency selective joint transform correlator) using th wavelet transformed CHF as the reference image in FSJTC is proposed for rotation invariant pattern recognition. Since the wavelet transform has the property of feature extraction, the proposed system can have the better DC (discrimination cpability) and the higher SNR(signal to noise ratio) compared with the conventional CHF-CJTC(circular harmonic function conventional joint transform correlator). And since the structure of the proposed system is FSJTC which can eliminate auto-correlation and cross-correlation between input images, it can eliminate false alarm caused by the overlapping among correlation peaks. The used wavelet functio is the morlet function, which is proper for the reference image used in this paper. the optimal dialation parameter and oscillation frequency of the wavelet function are also achieved with varying the parameters of the wavelet function. The computer simulation shows that the proposed system has the best performance when the dilation parameter is 0.8 and the oscillation frequency is 0.48.

  • In this paper, a new hybrid opto-digital multiple information hiding and real-time extracting system was suggested and implemented using a volume holographic optical correlator. The multiple information hiding system in which the multiple information can be hided in an arbitrary cover image was digitally implemented by using the combination of pseudo random sequence and Hadamard matrix. In addition, a real-time optical extraction system in which the hided multiple information in a cover image can be extracted in real-time was implemented by using a volume holographic optical correlator. In the VanderLugt-type holographic optical correlator used in this experiment, the multiful matched spatial filters corresponding each of the hided informations were recorded in a photorefractive crystal by using the moving window-based angular multiplexing scheme.

  • In this paper, an optical encryption system using binary key code based on the joint transform correlator (JTC) is considered. The binary key code is synthesized by using a design technique of the pixel-oriented Computer Generated Holograms (CGHs). The independence and efficiency of the binary encryption key are investigated through computer simulation. To test the efficiency of the encryption system using binary key code, a holographic encryption system is constructed, and the experimental results prove that our holographic encryption system has high ability.

Coded Single Input Channel for Color Pattern Recognition in Joint Transform Correlator

  • Recently, we reported a single input channel joint transform correlator for the color pattern recognition which decomposes the input color image into three R, G, and B gray components and adds those components into a single gray image in the input plane. This technique has the merit of a single input channel instead of three input channels. However, we found this technique has some problems with discrimination impossibility in the case of a simple primary color pattern which results in the same gray level through the addition process. Thus, we propose a modified coding technique which selectively recombines the decomposed three R, G, and B gray components instead of the simple adding process. Simulated results show that the modified coding technique can accurately discriminate a variety of kinds of color images.

Roll Angle Estimation of a Rotating Vehicle in a Weak GPS Signal Environment Using Signal Merging Algorithm

  • This paper proposes a signal merging algorithm to increase the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of a GPS correlator output to estimate the roll angle of a rotating vehicle in a weak GPS signal environment. Rotation Locked Loop (RLL) algorithm is used to estimate a roll angle using the characteristics that the power of the GPS signal measured at the receiver of a rotating vehicle varies periodically. First, delay times are calculated to synchronize GPS signals using satellites' and receiver's positions and the rotation frequency of a vehicle, and then correlator outputs are delayed in time and merged with each other, resulting in the increase of an SNR in a correlator output. Finally, simulations are conducted and the performance of the proposed algorithm is validated.
