An evolutionary approach for predicting the axial load-bearing capacity of concrete-encased steel (CES) columns

  • In this research, the gene expression programming (GEP) technique was employed to provide a new model for predicting the maximum loading capacity of concrete-encased steel (CES) columns. This model was developed based on 96 CES column specimens available in the literature. The six main parameters used in the model were the compressive strength of concrete (fc), yield stress of structural steel (fys), yield stress of steel rebar (fyr), and cross-sectional areas of concrete, structural steel, and steel rebar (Ac, As and Ar respectively). The performance of the prediction model for the ultimate load-carrying capacity was investigated using different statistical indicators such as root mean square error (RMSE), correlation coefficient (R), mean absolute error (MAE), and relative square error (RSE), the corresponding values of which for the proposed model were 620.28, 0.99, 411.8, and 0.01, respectively. Here, the predictions of the model and those of available codes including ACI ITG, AS 3600, CSA-A23, EN 1994, JGJ 138, and NZS 3101 were compared for further model assessment. The obtained results showed that the proposed model had the highest correlation with the experimental data and the lowest error. In addition, to see if the developed model matched engineering realities and corresponded to the previously developed models, a parametric study and sensitivity analysis were carried out. The sensitivity analysis results indicated that the concrete cross-sectional area (Ac) has the greatest effect on the model, while parameter (fyr) has a negligible effect.

  • This report describes the analysis method of the full-scale propulsive performance by using the data of model test and the full-scale speed trial. The model test data were analyzed by the computer program "PPTT" based on "1978 ITTC Performance Prediction Method for Single Screw Ships." Also the full-scale speed trial data were analyzed by the computer program "SSTT" based on the newly proposed “SRS-KIMM Standard Method of Speed Trial Analysis." An analysis of model and full-scale test data was carried out for a 60.000 DWT Bulk Carrier and the correlation between model and full-scale ship was stuied.

  • This paper is study that the mathemetical model of water mebrane splinklikler capacity in fire prevention block. The methmetical investigation are performed about prediction of five temperature in room and water membrane splinkler capacity by use of experimental model. The good correlation between predicted and experimental results is indication the adequacy of the mothemetical model. However. further experimental and analytical worke are needed before a more general mathemetical model can be proposed.

  • This article introduces transfer function model (TFM) with conditional heteroscedasticity where ARCH concept is built into the traditional TFM of Box and Jenkins (1976). Model building strategies such as identification, estimation and diagnostics of the model are discussed and are illustrated via empirical study including simulated data and real data as well. Comparisons with the classical TFM are also made.

  • The purpose of this study is to reexamine our test method in the light ofstatistical methods for data interpretation. Our trial to apply Plackett-Burman statistical model in multifactorial welding experiments shows that is saves much time and cost and extracts very accurate results. In this study, the parametric effects of bead shape on pulse MIG process in Cu-Ni alloy are investigated for verifying our trial.

  • The method for the Schlo"gl model with the first order transition is extended to the Scho;gl model with the second order transition for a photochemical reaction. We obtain the explicit results of the time-dependent average and the time correlation function at the unstable steady state of the model in the neighborhood of the Gaussian white noise and then discuss the effect of noise on the dynamic properties.

  • 중대사고시 고온·고압의 열수력적 현상과 증기의 억제효과를 정량화할 수 있는 수소연소에 의한 화염속도 상관식을 제시하고 보정인자들을 정의하였다. 이 상관식은 기존의 Iijima-Takeno 상관식에 중대사고시에 예상되는 수소와 증기의 농도 범위에서 증기의 억제효과를 정량화하는 인자인 증기억제율을 정의하여 추가하고, 초기 압력의 영향을 고려하는 보정효과를 변형한 것이다. 또한 기존의 화염속도 모델은 상온·대기압력에서 수행된 실험에 기초한 상관식으로 중대사고시의 고온·고압의 열수력적 현상을 올바로 모사할 수 없으며. 증기의 억제 효과를 정량화할 수 없었다. 따라서 화염의 구조를 정의하고, 해석적 분석을 통해 화염속도를 계산하였고, 이 결과를 중대사고 해석용 코드인 MAAP, HECTR의 상관식 결과와 FITS 실험자료와 비교하여 해석적 모델의 적합성을 검증하였다. 이러한 결과를 기초로 화염 속도에 대한 증기의 억제 효자를 정량화하고, 초기 온도와 압력의 영향을 보정하는 인자들을 결정하여 수소연소에 의한 간편한 형태의 화염속도 상관식을 제시하였다.

육상 중력자료 기반의 전 지구 중력장 모델 분석 (Analysis of Global Gravitational Models based on measured gravity data)

  • 본 연구에서는 전 지구 중력장 모델 EGM2008, EGM96을 우리나라 육상에서 측정한 16,786 지점의 중력 자료와 비교 평가 하였다. 육상 중력자료가 가장 정확하다는 가정 하에 육상 중력자료와 EGM2008, EGM96 간의 상관계수(correlation coefficient), 차이, 차이의 평균제곱오차(MSE), 표고에 따른 차이의 변화 등을 통하여 분석하였다. 육상중력과 EGM2008 간의 상관계수는 0.824, EGM96 간의 상관계수는 0.538로 계산되었다. 육상중력과 EGM2008, EGM96 간의 차이에 대한 표준편차는 각각 13.196 mgal, 18.685 mgal로 계산되었으며, 차이의 변화폭 역시 EGM2008이 EGM96 보다 작은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 육상 중력과 전 지구 중력장 모델의 표고에 따른 고도이상 차이는 역시 EGM2008은 큰 변화가 없었으나 EGM96의 경우 고도 변화에 따라 고도이상의 차이가 큰 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과로 EGM2008이 EGM96에 비하여 우리나라의 중력장을 잘 표현하고 있는 것으로 평가된다.
