As coastal erosion is increasing sharply because of sudden changes in the natural environment and increases in artificial development, the problem of coastal erosion become an important issue, socially and economically. To building the data which needed to grasp the situation and find a solution, we need the monitoring system for long-term. In this study, we analyzed the coastal topography and land cover changes in the Haeundae Beach during 60 years. The Haeundae Beach is the most famous beach in the country and coastal erosion are going on. First, we analyzed the change of coastal topography by calculated the coastline and area of the beach using aerial photos during 60 years. We extracted the coastline by digitized on aerial photo and corrected the height of tide level using sounding and GPS survey data. And we computed the area of beach and analyzed the change of area during 60 years. Second, we analyzed the change of land cover using landcover map. We made the detailed landcover map by on-screen digitizing and estimated the soil loss for the area nearby Haeundae Beach. As a result, we could see that the coastline get nearer to land and the area of beach has been reduced in general. We think that interception of sand supply by the development is the artificial cause of coastal erosion. The result of this study would be useful in long-term coastal monitoring and to analyze the cause of coastal environment change. We expect that the result is available on the coastal information system.
The purpose of this study was to develop a reliable and valid instrument to measure hope for cancer patients in Korea. This Hope Scale(Kim & Lee Hope Scale ; KLHS ) was developed based on not only critical universal attributes explaining both basic hope (generalized hope) and specific hope but also particular characteristics varing from culture and situation, which were revealed in a comprehensive review of the literature. Initially 60 items were generated from three sources : 36 items from the Q-sample used in the Kim's study, 1992, 21 representative items(statements) from the rest Q-population of the above study, 3 items related to the newly discovered category in the new qualitative study using 10 open ended question(death and dying) from the new qualitative study on the 20 cancer patients. At first 3 items were eliminated by the critique of the content validity experts, who were high experienced nurse, nursing professors. And then 4 items were eliminated in consideration of corrected item total correlation coefficiency, theoretical framework of this study. After that, 14 items were eliminated in comparing two or three items identified with the same meaning in each factor by this research team with factor loading and communality. This Hope Scale was finally constructed with 39 items. Psychometric evaluation was done on 492 adults(104 cancer patients, 388 adults who imagined who were cancer patients ranging from 18 to 76 years old. The results revealed high internal consistency Alpha coefficiency of .9351. Princial Component Factor Analysis with Varimax Rotation resulted in 8 factors with more than 1.0 of Eigenvalue. Referring to Eigenvalues, percent of variances(>60%), reproduced correlation matrix, and our theoretical framework, we decided the eight factors were the best1 solution to represent hope dimensions sufficiently. The eight factors were "confidence in possibility of cure", "sense of internal satisfaction", "being in communion", "meaning of life", "Korean hope perspectives", "belief in god", "self confidence", "self-worth". Among these factors, "confidence in possibility of cure", "sense of internal satisfaction", "Korean hope perspectives" were identified as different hope dimensions from those of Nowotny Hope Scale and Herth Hope Scale. There was significant negative correlation of r=-.4736 between this hope scale and Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS), and significant positive correlation of r=.3685 between this hope scale and Life Orientation Test (LOT) which indicate convergent and discriminant validity. The range of hope scores was from 71 to 244, with a mean of 171.97(SD=28.16).
Ground control points are needed for precision geometric correction of satellite images, and the coordinates of a high-quality ground control point can be obtained from the GPS measurement. However, considering the GPS measurement requires an excessive amount o f t ime a nd e fforts, there is a need for coming up with an alternative solution to replace it. Therefore, we examined the possibility of replacing the existing GPS measurement with coordinates available at online maps to acquire the coordinates of ground control points. To this end, we examined error amounts between the coordinates of ground control points obtained through Daum Map API, and them compared the accuracies between three types of coordinate transformation equations which were used for geometric correction of satellite images. In addition, we used the coordinate transformation equation with the highest accuracy, the coordinates of ground control point obtained through the GPS measurement and those acquired through D aum M ap A PI, and conducted geometric correction on them to compare their accuracy and evaluate their effectiveness. According to the results, the 3rd order polynomial transformation equation showed the highest accuracy among three types of coordinates transformation equations. In the case of using mid-resolution satellite images such as those taken by Landsat-8, it seems that it is possible to use geometrically corrected images that have been obtained after acquiring the coordinates of ground control points through Daum Map API.

Color distortion of the dark images acquired under a low-light-level environment with a weak light source can be cause of the performance decreation of various vision systems. Therefore, recovering the original color of the images is an important process for enhancing the performance of the system. For this, this study proposes a color restoration method using a dichromatic reflection model. This paper assumes that the dark images can be classified into two parts affected by specular or diffuse reflection. Two different color constancy methods were then applied to the images to remove the effects of each reflection and two images were created as a result. The resulting images produced a one color-corrected image by combining with different weights according to the position in the images. For the performance evaluation, this paper used a synthesized image, and considered the Euclidean distance and angular error as an evaluation factor. In addition, a performance comparison was performed with the existing various color constancy method to achieve the objectivity of evaluation. The experimental results showed that the proposed method can be a more suitable solution for color restoration than the existing method.
We report $^{230}Th/^{234}U$ disequilibrium ages of fracture-filling carbonate veins from the Ipsil and Janghangri fault zones, Gyeongju, Korea by multiple collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. The U and Th fraction was extracted from totally dissolved samples by rapid and convenient coprecipitation and ion exchange chemistry. The recovery was around 80% for Th and 70% for U. The $^{234}U/^{238}U,\;^{230}Th/^{232}Th$ ratios were analysed for this preconcentrated fraction and the U/Th ratio was directly analysed for untreated sample solution. The $^{234}U-^{230}Th$ system is in secular equilibrium for the Ipsil carbonate samples, supporting previously reported ESR ages. The detrital-corrected $^{230}Th/^{234}U$ age of the Janghangri carbonate samples is $48\pm$41 ka, which constrains the minimum age of the fracture zone.

Rice paddy accounts for approximately 52.5% of all farmlands in South Korea, and it is closely related to the water environment. Climate change is expected to affect not only agricultural productivity also the water and the nutrient circulation. Therefore this study was aimed to evaluate changes of nitrogen load from rice paddy considering climate change scenario uncertainty. APEX-Paddy model which reflect rice paddy environment by modifying APEX (Agricultural Policy and Environmental eXtender) model was used. Using the AIMS (APCC Integrated Modeling Solution) offered by the APEC Climate Center, bias correction was conducted for 9 GCMs using non-parametric quantile mapping. Bias corrected climate change scenarios were applied to the APEX-Paddy model. The changes and uncertainty in runoff and nitrogen load were evaluated using multi-model ensemble. Paddy runoff showed a change of 23.1% for RCP4.5 scenario and 45.5% for RCP8.5 scenario compared the 2085s (2071 to 2100) against the base period (1976 to 2005). The nitrogen load was found to be increased as 43.9% for RCP4.5 scenario and 76.0% for RCP8.5 scenario. The uncertainty analysis showed that the annual standard deviation of nitrogen loads increased in the future, and the maximum entropy indicated an increasing tendency. And Duncan's analysis showed significant differences among GCMs as the future progressed. The result of this study seems to be used as a basis for mid- and long-term policies for water resources and water system environment considering climate change.

Inclusion complexes of ketoconazole(KT) with ${\alpha}^_$, ${\beta}^_$cyclodextrin(CD) and $dimethy1-{\beta}-cyclodextrin$ (CD) and $dimethy1-{\beta}-cyclodextrin(DM{\beta}CD)$ as nasal absorption enhancer were prepared in 1: 2 molar ratios by freeze-drying and solvent evaporation methods. In order to compare with the intrinsic absorptivity of KT in the jejunum(J) and the nasal cavity(N), the in situ simultaneous perfusion method was employed. The in situ recirculation study revealed that KT-CD inclusion complexes with the greater stability constant and the faster dissolution rate proportionally increased the absorption of KT in the J and N of rats. The rank order of apparent KT permeability$(P_{app}\;:\;cm/sec\;{\time}\;1O^{-5}{\pm}S.E.)$, corrected by surface area of absorption, was $5.10{\pm}0.3(N,\; KT-DM{\beta}CD)$ )> $4.13{\pm}0.4(N,\;KT-{\beta}-CD)$ )> $3.52{\pm}0.2(N,\;KT-{\alpha}-CD)$ )> $2.76{\pm}0.3(J,\; KT-DM{\beta}CD)$ )> $2.61{\pm}0.5(J,\;KT-{\beta}-CD)$ )> $2.42{\pm}0.4(J,\;KT-{\alpha}-CD)$ at pH 4.0. The in crease in permeability of $KT-DM{\beta}CD$ inclusion complex was 2.6 folds in the J and 4.5 folds in the N when the perfusing solution was changed from the buffer(pH 4.0) to saline. The absorption rate of $KT-DM{\beta}CD$ inclusion complex after nasal administration was more rapid than those of ketoconazole alone and $KT-DM{\beta}CD$ inclusion complex after oral administration to rats. In comparision with an oral administration of ketoconazole suspension in corn oil, the relative bioavailability was calculated 137.3% for the oral and 195.0% for nasal $KT-DM{\beta}CD$ inclusion complex in rats. The present results suggest that $KT-DM{\beta}CD$ inclusion complex may serve as a potential nasal absorption enhancer for the nasal delivery of ketoconazole.

A study was carried out on the dissolution of spent PWR fuels and performed on the fuels and the separation of iodide for the quantitative analysis using SIMFUEL which has chemical composition of a simulated spent PWR fuel (burn-up; 35,000 MWd/MTU and cooling time; 10 years). To dissolve the SIMFUEL effectively and to minimize the formation of volatile iodine through dissolution process, the optimum ratio of mixed acid ($HNO_3/HCl$ 80: 20 mol%) was established and ozone gas was purged. In the separation step of iodine with $CCl_4$, $NH_2OH{\cdot}HCl$ was used for reducing ${IO_3}^-$ to $I_2$.The optimum acidity of the dissolved solution and the added of $NH_2OH{\cdot}HCl$ were 2.5 M and more than $1.5{\times}10^{-3}mole$, respectively. The recovery of iodide by ion chromatography was $82.8{\pm}4.1%$ and the total yield was corrected by gamma spectrometery using $^{131}I$ as a tracer.
We performed refraction, keratometry, slit lamp biomicroscopy. We selected 58 current spherical RGP lens wearers for this three-month study. All patients exhibits at least 0.75D of corneal astigmatism measured with the keratometer, and 37 patients had corneal astigmatism of 1.50D or greater. At least follow-up visit, we measured Snellen acuity with lenses, and performed overrefraction, overkeratometry and slit lamp biomicroscopy. We charted lens position, movement and surface quality. During the three month, biomicroscopy revealed no corneal edema and neovascularization on any patients. Fluorescein staining were 52 patients case of grade 0.5 patients case of grade 1, and 1 patient case of grade 2. In evaluating post-fit residual cylinder, on overrefraction as a percentage of refractive cylinder. By the initial visit, one-week visit, one-month visit, and two-month visit are 41%, 34%, 29%, respectively. In this data, we knew no change after one month. The average overrefraction for these eyes in absolute diopters is 0.26D(initial visit), 0.22D(one-week visit, 0.17D(one-month visit), and 0.16D(two-month visit). The use of a regimen containing a dedicated daily cleaner was more effective in maintaining patient comfort and lens cleanliness than was the use of a regimen containing only a multipurpose solution.
Background: Ingestion of $^{210}Po$ laden seafood accounts for a substantial amount of the effective dose of $^{210}Po$. Among seafood items, mollusks, especially domestically produced oysters and mussels, are highly enriched in $^{210}Po$ and are consumed in large quantities in Korea. Materials and Methods: Oysters and mussels around the Korean coasts were collected from major farm areas in November 2013. Samples were spiked with an aliquot of $^{209}Po$ as a yield tracer, and they were digested with $6mol{\cdot}L^{-1}$$HNO_3$ and $H_2O_2$. The $^{210}Po$ and $^{209}Po$ were spontaneously deposited onto a silver disc in an acidic solution of $0.5mol{\cdot}L^{-1}$ HCl and measured using an alpha spectrometer. The activity concentrations of $^{210}Pb$ and $^{210}Po$ were decay corrected to the sampling date, accounting for the possible in-growth and decay of $^{210}Po$. Results and Discussion: $^{210}Po$ activity concentrations in oysters were in a range from 41.3 to $206Bq{\cdot}(kg-ww)^{-1}$ and mussels in a range from 42.9 to $46.7Bq{\cdot}(kg-ww)^{-1}$. The $^{210}Po$ activity concentration of oysters in the turbid Western coast was higher than the Southern coast. The $^{210}Po$ activity concentration of the oysters was positively correlated ($R^2=0.89$) with those of the suspended particulate matter in the surface water. The calculated annual effective dose of $^{210}Po$ from oysters and mussels consumed by the Korean population was 21-104 and $5.01-5.46{\mu}Sv{\cdot}y^{-1}$. The combined effective dose due to the consumption of oysters and mussels appears to account for about $35{\pm}19%$ of that arising from seafood consumption in the Korean population. Conclusion: The annual effective dose of $^{210}Po$ for oysters in the Korean population was found to be higher than other countries. The total annual effective dose of $^{210}Po$ due to consumption of oysters and mussels consumed in Korea was found to be $76{\pm}42{\mu}Sv{\cdot}y^{-1}$, accounting for $28{\pm}16%$ of the total effective dose of $^{210}Po$ from food in Korea.
