  • The current study aims to investigate the relationship between tax avoidance and firm risk in an emerging market called Iran. The study population consists of 400 observations and 80 companies listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) over a five-year period during 2012 and 2016. The statistical model used in this study is a multivariate regression model; besides, the statistical technique used to test the hypotheses proposed in this research is panel data. The results showed that low effective tax rate (tax avoidance) is more consistent than the higher effective tax rate. Moreover, there is no significant relationship between tax avoidance and future tax rate volatility. The findings also proved that lower effective tax rates are positively associated with future stock price volatility. This implies that since Iranian firms have many financial problems because of economic sanctions, they have a tendency to delay the disclosure of bad news about their firms. Needless to say, when a huge number of negative news reaches its peak, they immediately will enter the market and lead to a remarkable fluctuation in stock prices.

  • Though Korea has received attention through an exceptional economic growth and the big K-POP fever all over the world, its happiness level is not so high. Therefore, this research aims to find not only the Korean' s condition of the happiness and unhappiness, but also the way to enhance their happiness. We collected various web data(89,127 cases from 2013/01 to 2014/12) through searching our own 26 keywords based on Alderfer's ERG Theory. Also, we tried to analyze the subjects related to happiness and unhappiness by using LDA topic modeling. As the result, the condition of happiness and unhappiness were the top topics extracted from each field. We conducted the second detailed analysis based on the data of condition of the happiness and unhappiness which are the top topics of the previous analysis. From the second analysis result, we proposed several ways to enhance happiness from the perspective of government, corporate, family, education, social welfare. This paper is meaningful because it catches the condition of happiness and unhappiness based on a real web data as well as transform the data into the knowledge. Also, this paper provides the practical methods from the view from all walks of life that may enhance happiness and relieve unhappiness.

Methods: For this purpose, a total of 1,035 teachers were surveyed. The validity of the career happiness survey tool was examined through previous research, expert review, and factor analysis. Results: The results of the study are as follows. The individual variables influencing career happiness of childcare teachers were mainly age, and there was a difference in the career happiness of teachers over 40 years old and teachers under 29 years old. Second, the teachers at home daycare centers showed a high level of interpersonal relationships and working hours. The teachers at workplace daycare centers have a good balance between work and life, and teachers at corporate group daycare centers have a high sense of happiness about income. • The study seeks to evaluate the impacts of three types of credit - formal, semi-formal, and informal credits - on the well-being of households in Vietnam's rural areas. Based on data from the Vietnam Household Living Standard Surveys in 2014 and 2016, the research uses the instrumental variable fixed-effect models to estimate the effects of three kinds of credit on household's per capita income and expenditure. There are some significant findings. First, in rural areas, formal credit is the most popular source with stable and cheap borrowing costs. Informal credit is a complement to formal credit to meet urgent needs. Funding agriculture activities is the most commonly cited purpose of borrowing, followed by purchasing assets. The highest misuse rate belongs to the group of loans for agriculture production. Second, the results show that credit helps smoothen consumption rather than generate income for rural households. Three types of credit have insignificant or negative effects on household's per capita income. Formal loans significantly improve total expenditure and spending on healthcare and education. Informal and semi-formal credits show a little influence on consumption. Informal loans have a significantly positive effect on healthcare expenditure. In contrast, having semi-formal loans tends to decrease spending on foods.

  • Fair trade has received increasing attention from ethical consumers in the North Trans-Atlantic world. It is a movement establishing alternative trading organizations to ensure minimal returns, safe working conditions, and to provide continuity in the trading relationship for disadvantaged producers, especially women and indigenous people in the South. Despite of the growing fair trade movement in the U.S. and Europe, it is still in the introductory stage in Korea. Although fair trade has gained some attention because of the efforts of activists, most Korean consumers are still unaware of it. This paper is divided into four sections including an introduction and conclusions. In section two, I analysed sales of the fairly traded products and the websites of the fairly traded products sellers. In section three, I proposed two effective recommendations for the better marketing and promotion strategies of fairly traded products. One proposal is for providing consumer information, like fair trade certificates, consumer campaigns, and consumer information of the fair trade sellers' websites analyses. The other is for establishing the infrastructure to promote the consumption of fairly traded products such as consumer education, corporate social responsibility, social enterprise, fair trade town and school, and networking. This study is relavant to academics, non-profit fair trade organizations, manufacturers, retailers and governments.

  • This paper aims to investigate the impact of chief executive officer's (CEO) attributes on firms' performance. Specifically, it examines the influence of CEOs' education, professional experience, and tenure on Saudi firms' performance. We look at a sample of 120 listed firms on Tadawul stock exchange from 2014 to 2017. Data on financial and accounting variables are obtained from the annual reports of the selected companies. We follow the existing empirical literature and use a panel model and formulate three different equations using the GMM estimator. Findings prove that CEO educational background does matter. In particular, companies employing CEOs with business administration, economics, finance, or accounting degree will perform outstandingly better. Similarly, stock performance gets improved when the CEO has a postgraduate qualification, i.e., when the CEO holds an MBA, a master, or a PhD degree. Besides, results reveal that executives who have an experience in a related field will positively affect the firm's performance. Finally, evidence shows that high CEOs tenure improves corporate performance. Overall, these findings demonstrate that executives' attributes are key factors that would explain differences in Saudi firms' performance. These results would help shareholders to make the right decision in selecting CEOs to manage the company.

  • I think that there are few domestic enterprises that recognize standardization of logistics equipments is necessary, which causes a lot of waste in costs and also reduces their business competitiveness. The purpose of this paper is to make the companies be aware of this situation, to exactly analyze where the Korean logistics equipments status are, and further to provide practical directions of methods and activities for effective standardization. Through analysis in the study, there were some findings, as listed below. First, the standardization level of each company varies depending on its own corporate characteristics. Second, if a company adopted standardization process in logistics equipments, it would accelerate process of work efficiency or productivity. Third, when logistics equipment are standardized, it would boost efficiency in storage utilization. Fourth, the delivery services through this standardized logistics would be implemented at a higher speed than before due to the accelerated flow of materials. According to the above findings, it is confirmed that logistics standardization would greatly affect on business performance positively. For the domestic manufactures to facilitate logistics system more easily, as an easiest way, it is required to build logistics standardization teams and surveys. Then afterwards, to achieve it earlier than expected, the company-wide education and training for workers have to be followed to let them be aware of necessity and inevitability about standardized logistics.

  • Most approaches for continuous review inventory problem need tables for loss function and cumulative standard normal distribution. Furthermore, it is time-consuming to calculate order quantity (Q) and reorder point (r) iteratively until required values are converged. The purpose of this paper is to develop a direct method to get the solution without any tables. We used approximation approaches for loss function and cumulative standard normal distribution. The proposed method can get the solution directly without any iterative procedure for Q, r and without any tables. The performance of the proposed approach is tested by using numerical examples. The budget constraint of this paper assumes that purchasing costs are paid at the time an order is arrived. This constraint can be easily replaced by capacity constraint or budget constraint in which' purchasing costs are paid at the time an order is placed.
